The (surprising) design choices for the power train of a world class solar car

Solar Team Twente builds one of the world’s fastest solar racing cars. To be fast in their competition means to be efficient, so we have collaborated on a Gallium-Nitride based motor inverter using our VIPER building block. Designing the core components of the solar car power train requires design choices that might not seem obvious at first. Our presentation will therefore focus on this performance study and its surprising outcomes. We will explain some of our choices and the thought process behind our extremely efficient motor controller. We hope to inspire you to use this mindset in your own designs!
