  • First time and first thoughts for Li-Ning, a China-based brand making some very high-end racing stuff, like the Feidian 3 Ultra (and this collab version with Soulland). Featuring a dual-arc carbon-fiber plate and Li-Ning Boom midsole (basically Peba-based), it's a pretty sweet race shoe that's been landing on podiums at some big marathons. It also costs $335 US.

Speaking of Chinese super shoes, you guys need to test Xtep 160X 3.0 Pro. In 2022, over 60% of Chinese marathon finisher who run under 3 hours wear Xtep (特步) shoes.

Why is no one mentioning that this is a colab with a Scandinavian fashion brand? (Soulland). Might explain the slightly ridiculous price point.

I've tried finding them for sale online. And I thought the pricing was some weird thing about tiny importers marking it waaaay up. When I could find the shoes - which was almost never. Obviously this shoe would have to be SIGNIFICANTLY better than the Vaporfly, Alphafly, etc... given how much of a pain it is to even find the things much less the insane price.

Really? I have the 361 flame and the vaporfly, and for me, it's night and day. Maybe I got a dud, but the flame have absolutely no bounce, and the plate is super stiff so it makes you do all the work.

@@nicholaskraut1704 Yes plate very stiff but the same in my Vaporfly.. I have tons of energy return (hard and bouncy) but because of the stiff midsole I can also run slowly without pronation and the Achilles Tendon discomfort is get after a slower run in them Vaporfly V2.

Chineses super shoes has always been very good like last 3-4 years or so but only in asian market mostly. This soulland collaboration is more like gimmick than anything, but xtep and lining even qiaodan ( jordan lol) had been leading in super shoe market in Asia!
Was going to try 361 flame myself but waiting on their new offering like Hurricane and Flying ST from 361. 361 flame is more like training shoe than super shoe thought, vaporfly just out right beats it imo in long distance racing.

What an idiotic comment. 1) CCP? So what? How is the Chinese government any better or worse than say the US government or most governments you could name?
      2) Hong Kong? Are you serious? That's a city....in China. Sorry to blow your mind pal....it's a city in China. Last time I checked China is not a democracy. So why would Hong Kong be? If one city in America wants a different political system from the entire rest of America.....do they get it? And let me ask you .....Hong Kong was a British colony for decades. Why didn't the UK ever give them democracy?
      3) What about Covid? It was first recorded in China. But the origin remains a mystery because no proper investigation has ever been done. Though my guess would be given that the US government was funding the lab in Wuhan....there never will be.
      4) What about Taiwan? Did I miss news? What did China do to Taiwan? Last time I checked it's still there. You might want to go read up about the One China policy that 99% of the world recognizes. It's in the name pal. It means 99% of the world recognizes that China and Taiwan are one country. And ..Taiwan itself to this day claims it is China. None of that is my opinion. Those are the facts. They are both Chinese people. And both argue that they are China. All of it. They just disagree over who the rightful government is.
      5) Ukraine???.... Seriously? China played zero part in starting that war. Blame Russia and NATO/the US. They are the parties involved that got it to where it is now. Not sure how in your delusional mind China played any part in that.
Geez.....at least know what you are actually talking about before you regurgitate mindless government propaganda/talking points.
I bet you are the type of person that has an iphone and wears Nike's despite both being made in China.....while you spew your hateful anti-China bile.

American exceptionalism alert. Sure ... because it's impossible for Chinese people to innovate or develop anything right? Certainly not like Americans right? Despite the fact that China produces 4 times more STEM (science, technology , engineering, and math) graduates than the US and has been doing so for years already. And despite that FACT that China is ranked number one in the world in PISA (the international ranking of students globally). The US isn't even on the list anymore.
I should also point out that the history of Nike was that it started out as an agent for Asics called Blue Ribbon. Phil Knight was so impressed with Onitsuka Tiger (as Asics was called then) shoes that he travelled to Japan...met the founder and made a deal to import their shoes to the US. While there he toured their factories and offices and it's what gave him the idea to start Nike. So.....a bit of "copying" going on there........
The point is that NOTHING is created in a vacuum. Everyone and everything is inspired by something else. So even if Li-Ning is inspired by Nike......just as Nike was inspired by Onitsuka Tiger/Asics .....that's not unusual or a bad thing. Especially given that they have developed into a very innovative sports brand themselves.
