    So this video is slightly different, but I figured you guys would still appreciate it and find it useful. If you're subscribed to me or watch any of my videos, you already want to improve as a player. So why don't you take your games as learning opportunities? Your pride is preventing you from learning from your peers. You are blinding yourself from a great source of knowledge. Tame your pride, open your eyes, improve at a much faster rate.

  • @elektrolites2891

    This is interesting, I am the polar opposite to this. I have no pride, and blame myself for everything that doesn't go well during a match. It really lowers my already-low self-esteem. I get raged at for being a horrible player, and although I like LoL, I already get depressed playing. ( I play fiora and my username is Spectral Nexus) what can I do? :'(

    • @foxdropLoL
      @foxdropLoL  10 ปีที่แล้ว +69

      You shouldn't get depressed when playing. I don't know your personal situation so it's not easy for me to give too much advice, but try to think of it this way: who cares? Who cares if you are literally the worst player in the world? There is nothing wrong with 'being bad'. You say you enjoy LoL, and that's the important part.
      Having said that, you are also most definitely not the worst player in the world. The very fact that you are watching this video proves that you want to get better. That is already half the battle. Someone who is good but doesn't really want to get better or blames his team will soon be overtaken by someone who admits fault and tries to learn from their mistakes.
      Also, flamers happen. They exist. I get flamed all the time. Sometimes it's justified (not that flaming is ever justifiable, only that I will make mistakes) but most times it's just people venting or getting frustrated. Don't take the flamers to heart. You could be the best player in the history of LoL and still get flamed. As long as you know in your head what you did wrong, that's fine. Don't dwell on it. Just learn from it, and move on.
      If you really struggle with ragers, use the mute button liberally.
      Hope that helps, good luck in your games :)

      foxdropLoL - Be a Better League Player I really can't thank you enough for this support you're giving me, it's so kind-hearted of you, and I really thank you for helping me. I'm trying hard to ignore ragers, and although from time to time I still get quite sad, this helped me a lot and made me feel like a good player! Thank you so much, this is *really* inspirational and uplifting, thank you for giving me hope again!

    I find it more difficult to do these things when I'm in a premade team, or in Duo Queue with a friend. I tend to go on tilt much easier and I get angry much quicker, and my sportsmanship is almost non-existent.

      Also, I don't know if this applies in ranked, but if you're per say in normal draft, the more players you have (Let's say all 25's or something) you will get matched with level 30s. Why? The game believes being in a premade lobby is an advantage. Just saying

    that wukong that got fed off jax. i want to learn what i can do to stop that wukong rather than what i can do next game.
    so sick of playing games where the enemy has to much Armor/health to burst down, and too much damage to get away from. i want to learn how to get away from that.

    • @seniorgir
      @seniorgir 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      maybe get common gank times of when jax will get ganked. look at each lane occasionally to see how each champ is fairing vs the opponent. give them pings - pings are quite literally the most effective way to make a player listen. ping them a warning and say Wukong is coming, or that wukong will allin soon. prepare to gank for them. If you couldn't help the first death, be prepared for the second - alot of low elo players camp the same player over and over for "free kills". If he's too fed, maybe its time to abandon the lane. leave jax and go help bot lane. help mid lane. maybe those lanes are fine and you need to just farm for lategame to deal with said wukong, or maybe you have opportunities to counterjungle, or maybe you aren't in the jungle, but you're in a lane, are you farming as perfectly as you can? are you zoning the other or roaming effectively? there's so many possibilities and options. you just need to look for them yourself, dont ask for them on a silver platter then expect to get elo just because you "read a guide". think outside the box.

    • @ANDELE3025

      Pressure and objectives, enemy can be miles ahead in stats, but it means nothing if your team can obey and provide pressure on lanes while you push for towers.

    Most Gold supports take this theory a little too far.
    They take a kill - sorry my fault
    enemy steals Dragon - Sorry I should've warded more
    You miss a cs - Sorry I must be putting you off.
    It's a little extreme at times.

    I'm gonna share a story.
    My summoner name is Alpha Fallen, and I play Support at summoner level 24, i've never played a Ranked game, and I am by no means a flawless human being. During a match I just played, our team was destined to lose. However, something happened that I never counted on when this happened. The rest of the team didn't quit simply because things looked bad, which as you all know, is very rare in unranked matches. Due to the players having a good attitude, and me pulling my weight as a support, we kept the match alive for a full hour before eventually succumbing to the enemy team. I learned that you don't have to win a match to learn something important tonight, and then I watched this video.
    Mind. Blown. Wide. Open.
    Thanks for reading!

      ***** Just wanted to share the same story that happened to me a while back. During my ranked matched on silver, one of our teammate rage really hard and decided to afk. So we are forced to fight 4 vs 5 for the rest of the game. But we simply didn't give up the match! We decided to just farm up and push the lane whenever possible up till that teamfight. For whatever reason, their fed Katarina decided to check the bush where the rest of us stayed. We killed her and slaughter their team one by one and that's pretty much the turning point of our match. So the point is simply don't give up and learn not to spend the rest of your game flaming each other.

    Hello foxdrop,
    I am currently gold III in EUW, I have been jumping around in gold for a while now, like half a year. For some reason, I don't get the feeling that I'm improving as a player. I do get to know some champions better when I play them, but I don't really think that I'm improving even though I play quite a few games a day. I tell myself that I want to learn from a game, I try to watch my replays as much as I can (When I can actually watch them, LoL really needs a replay software) and I see my mistakes. It's just that actually applying this information into gameplay seems really difficult for me. I am also doing stuff like playing customs to work on my csing and lane control but it doesn't seem to get me all that far.
    Do you by any chance have any advice for someone like me?

      @TimothyMarto 10 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      i used to play bots all the time too, but that won't make you a better player cause bots cant strategize like real players. Keep playing normals, even if the others flame you. You're only there to learn and you're doing your best. Best thing (in my opinion) to do is to play with friends who are better than you. They can help you slingshot your experience and then you'll be better than players who are on your level (i kept playing against level 30 players when i was level 12). Remember that if your team keeps flaming, just silence them. Cause you're doing your best to become a better player. Keep that in mind. ^^

    Wow foxdrop. You are quite possibly the most honest and straightforward league player and commentator I've seen and heard. I played through my provisionals and made bronze 2 (which made me kinda happy), but I'd rage so much that I stopped playing ranked altogether. I've been in normals for a very long time because I'd blame my teammates and other players instead of learning. However, after seeing this video and other "tips to escape elo hell" vids from you, I;ve really had a complete change in my attitude. I mean, I've now made silver 3 because of your tips and your reasons for rage, pride, and learning. So tl;dr thank you so much for your outlook and understanding of this game and even people.

    This is a pretty good point. Pride is actually very helpful to keeping you playing your best; being confident that you are better than you enemies encourages you to play better. But just learn when it's good and when it's bad to be prideful.

  • @foxdropLoL
    @foxdropLoL  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    That's a good question. It's hard for me to tell you ways to boost your confidence because it's all personal to you, but a good way to do it is to just play and play until you know you're good with a certain champ or whatever. Also, ignore people who hate on you. Don't let others ruin your confidence.
    Be confident in the fact that even if you make mistakes, you'll learn from them and improve. If you keep doing that, you'll only get better and better.

    It depends. If you're losing lane the first thing to do is avoid dying. If your laner is roaming, make sure you've got wards up. If he is just pushing, try to clear waves as best you can and then go help your team. Grouping with your team will give you a numerical advantage and, if played right, you can make use of this advantage and get some kills/dragon/tower. This will also force your enemy laner to get off your lane and help his team.

    Foxdrops, thanks for all your videos. I finally got out of Bronze and into Silver. Making my way up the ladder slowly. I keep coming back to read your stuff to remind myself of what I need to focus on. Here's something I see a lot (and i'm glad you covered the topic of "pride"). Many times, when you try to offer advice or tell someone something they take it as micro management or get offended. It could be as simple as asking your support to ward the bush for you or telling someone who's failing in their lane to try building armor. All of a sudden you're toxic, trolling and micromanaging. How do people expect to grow and get better? I'm not pro, but it shouldn't matter where I am to make a decent, legitimate point. Mind you, I'm not cursing or calling someone bad. It's honest and non-brutal or mean feedback, but that pride element plays strong and they take it as toxic.

    I was recently on a losing streak and went from silver 3 to silver 5 which made me mad honestly.. but i kept asking myself why... days later I was playing a game as J4 top lane vs a Panth, and while we exchanged killls in the heat of battle he ended killing me once more than i had on him...i felt this feeling inside and i didnt know what it was and I now know it was my pride. While I played that game i subconsciously stopped my pride from getting in the way before it became frustrating and next thing i know I was having fun and we won the game . I just want to say thanks for making this video! made me smile and I have learned from it, do more so others can learn as well..Thanks Foxdrop !

    Finally was able to watch this with audio. Another thing this does is not just make you better at the game but more enjoyable. Like foxdrop said it also applies to life. Ever since I've found this mindset a month or two ago my elo has increased and general outlook on life as well. See what YOU can improve on.

    Good advice, reminds me of a game i played recently where i went super agressive for first blood and got out with like 100hp. The other guy said something to the effect of "that was lucky, you didnt know you were going to live" when i knew full well both of our burst potential and that i had that fight won before it started.
    Im sure ive been on the other end of that too where i assumed luck and i was the one who was wrong. I will try to keep that in mind from now on.

    I time it myself. I use timestamps in my chat so whenever a buff goes down I write "tb" for their blue, or "tr" for their red, and then I just add 5 minutes on to whenever I wrote that down.

    i really like this video, it makes me think alot , i do alot of what you described. i think also you should include as we get older the brain gets worse at this due to how many times you have solved an issue , you're brain thinks it already has the solution and is even more resilient to taking in ideas or information, in other words the older you get the more you are going to come up with reasons as to why it isn't your mistake but theirs. thanks for the video

    It's ok man, ty for taking the time to answer, I'm trying to be open minded because all I want is to learn and not to complain. I'll try some of the stuff you told me, however it's gone better for me recently so I guess I was just on a bad luck streak or something :)

    I like to think I keep a positive mindset and respect my opponents (provided they're not harassing in chat) but you've given me a new way of looking at things regarding other lanes. This kind if stuff applies to life outside of LoL as well, which makes it all the more valuable. Thanks Fox.

    I use time stamps to track buffs. I just type "tb" or "tr" when I kill that camp, then I know it will respawn 5 minutes from when I typed that.
    Good rule of thumb: 7:10 for the second blue respawn, ~13 min for the third.

    you know i legit started thinking about how much i suck at certain aspects of the game and literally after one game i started winning and not just winning like total shut out the last game i played last night the enemy team got 1 kill and couldnt do anything against us its really enlightening when you start doing that and looking and what youre doing wrong how fast you can improve

    This video was a massive eye opener for me, i always play like a complete jackass where if i die im really bad or if e.g the toplaner has 4/0 i blame my team members.. watching this made me realise that i should actually think that maybe it wasnt their fault and that they were "outplayed" etc thank you so much for helping me improve my attitude to league of legends!!!

    Hey foxdroplol! If it matters, this video has really taught me that I need to learn from other players. Thanks :) I don't consciously have a superiority complex, but I am subconsciously just ignoring the fact that they are doing well, and that I could learn from that, so I'm going to change that! This video has gotten me to get a replay device, and I'm going to watch what others do to help myself! So again, thank you!

  • @foxdropLoL
    @foxdropLoL  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    You don't necessarily need to ask for advice. It's more about teaching yourself. Watching what is happening in the game, asking yourself why they're successful, and trying to absorb that.

    This video makes perfect sense, and if you just be nice to people, most are willing to help. But I was wondering if maybe you could do a quick video about gameplay basics? I'm still pretty new, and everyone tells me that I cant get any better at the game without having the free roam camera option, but I just cant seem to get the hang of it. Do you have any suggestions?

    I can try to give some advice. I get extremely anxious before games also, even normals. I know that I'm proficient enough for my MMR, I rarely truly feed (only in extremely poor games where the whole team feeds) and typically I make a very positive impact for my team. What I find helps me out is, once I'm in the lobby, I try to be social with everyone else. Just be courteous at the very start and gauge the team's response. Usually if you start polite, they stay that way and nobody gets too angry

    So question and what do i do than blame my teammates or me of lane top or bot getting killed im myself most zed mostly i win my lane but bot and top getting than killed alot so they get bit fed and if i roam there its not possible for me to kill i get lower kills because i secure kills mostly and no deaths thats mostly how i die i do naturally lose my lane sometimes but mostly it happens like this ? blame me or them ?

    hey, i have a problem when i play toplane, i have no idea what to do when im winning a lane. when i win my lane i usually go 2-3/0 and i start pushing towers, after i get a tower or two, enemy midlaner/jungler comes up and kills me. and this happens more than once setting me for an even score like 2/2 or 3/2. I often do this, but i dont know what i should do, help me please?

    id like to ask this when i started playing League i use to get up to 15 kill per game i started 1 week before school ended and until now i was extremely good in my opinion (not trying to be cocky) but i stopped playing for 2 weeks when i hit lvl 15 because i got very busy for those 2 weeks since then i have been trying to play better but instead im doing a lot worse than i use to for example now i get very little kill about 3-5 and 10-15 assists and it is really annoying and no i dont play support. Pls tell me why
