That is a beautiful boat, especially as a living space. Widebeams are certainly a hell of a lot more liveable looking than narrowboats (from afar anyway). And you can have a dog or cat. You can travel at whatever pace you want and park it and go elsewhere too. In town and country. So cosy!
Congratulations on the new boat! I hope it serves you well. It'll be well suited for some very different water-based adventures than we've all grown used to seeing.
Well that's certainly a change, to say the least. There comes a time when one lifestyle finishes and another begins. No better or worse just different. I hope she is all you want her to be. Good fortune with your new adventures.
You guys were the first TH-cam channel I ever watched and subscribed to. I gave up for a while after we sold our sailboat. It was a wee bit painful to live vicariously. We are thrilled with your new purchase. What a beauty. Wishing your happiness, good cheer, cold beer and good health. Exciting stuff!
Looks lovely, light and spacious. Living in a Victorian house I know how nice it is having a fire to keep you warm. Turns the winters into something to look forward to rather than dread. You'll have a great time on this boat.
So happy for you both! That's our other dream!! A canal boat! No worry about bad weather just love living on the water. ❤❤❤ Congratulations 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Congratulations, she's a beautiful new home and Liz the beaming smile on your face says it all. We look forward to following your journey and especially look forward to meeting the dog, whenever it joins you 🐾
She's lovely, well done, I'm sure you will enjoy a slightly slower pace of life. When you get a pooch he or she is going to love curling up infront of the log burner after a frosty winter walk
Congratulations to you two and your new home. Can’t wait to follow to two through the canals. Love the fire place . And it looks so homey and comfortable. Cheers you two. 🍻🍻🍻
CONGRATULATIONS to you both, FANTASTIC! I am so happy for you! I think you will have loads of fun and exciting times on your new boat! So glad you will be on the canal system in the UK and maybe some offshore use with you new Widebeam . So exciting!
A big change for you both. It was obviously the right choice because you both seem very happy and eager to get on with it. I am looking forward to watching your new episodes. 😊
Hey Susanne. We moved in today (just after recording this) and she already looks lived in! We'll have some footage of the 10,000 boxes blocking our exits soon!
So the Valium Express has a side hatch so you can serve cups of tea and sandwiches to passing boats. So much space as I was when I moved in to my apartment after living on the yacht for a couple of years. I did like the cathedral window midships to let in lots of light on those dim winter days. Yes the dodger looks like a stroller so when under it will you pull on a knitted head covering like a 5 year old? Great to see your both happy little vegemites. I look forward to catching up some time in June.
Well spotted, Nige. That Houdini Hatch is a really nice touch. It's covered in the winter boot it'll be great for letting in the cool air during the summer months 👍👍

Great plan to get a wide beam/Dutch barge. I looked at canal boats ages ago and was amazed by how many people go for narrowboats when the mileage of canals you can’t access in a wide beam didn’t make the lack of width of a narrowboat worth it IMHO. And obviously it will be much better on rivers etc than a narrow boat. Can so tell you have lived on a sailing boat for a long time. People moving from a house would be saying: ‘it’s a bit small but we can do it’. For you it’s so much space you don’t know what to do with it all. Beautiful boat. Looking forward to your future films.
congratulation! I’m so very excited for you…and us (your viewers) lol. thank you for continuing the adventure. would love to see more photography themed videos if you can budget it
What a stunning interior! No money was spared for the kitchen luxury, complete with a marble table. I'm sure there will be many happy days on this boat, and what would boat life be without some boat-related issues? 😀
Looks lovely, and certainly good for long term liveaboard. Only guest sleeping is the pull out bed in the living area? Name change? Food for thought for future vlog - comparing naviagable waterways available to a wide beam, compared to a narrowboat.
I am so happy for both of you; still on a boat, still on the water, and closer to family as I know that Jamie's parents are aging so getting to them if need be will be much quicker but hopefully you don't need to. Again excited for both of you and can't wait to see the trips around the canals with the cities and country side of your country. I think that it will be fun despite the elbow grease you will need to put into her in order to get her working, I mean the boat NOT Liz LOL
So happy you’ve found your next home on the water. Coincidentally I was watching one of my favorite episodes of “Great Canal Journeys” with Timothy West and Prunella Scales, who are long time canal lovers, traveling the Grand Union canal from Brentford to Limehouse “The London Ring” which I’m sure you will try in the future. Funnily enough I used to live in Northfields, just a stones throw from their start point, small world eh? If I wasn’t content living on land here in Thailand the idea of narrowboating, or wideboating in the UK would be very appealing, and anyway I couldn’t afford to buy a house there! So from Moon and I, congrats and good wishes, with Moon saying “no sails, no big waves, no hidden reefs or sandbars, no storms and dragging anchors, no raising and lowering dingy to go shopping, what a great way to live on a boat”. PS hope you kept all your UK power plugs. Cheers Mac and Moon.
Dear Mac and Moon, so nice to hear from you. I think Moon hits the nail on the head there, pretty much all the practical motivations of making the move to the enclosed canals versus the open seas. We may not have the weather but we do have the seasons. Looking forward to seeing daffodils for the first time in two decades!
Congratulations on your new boat, she is lovely. I really hope you take to your new life. We have just accepted an offer on our narrowboat, as I commented in your last video, it's not for me, I'm going back to sailing, I want the sun and sand which I should never have left and you just can't have in the UK. I'm in portugal now, looking for a suitable yacht to live on again. Love to you both in you new adventure, have fun.... And lots of it.
I think you will be surprised how you adjust to more space. I think you will find you will love the rain shower head. I don't think you made a mistake at all. It will be fun to learn about England as you tour the canals. The engine room will need some good sandblasting and painting. Good luck in your new adventures.
Ooh! You went luxury! Widebeams are exactly how you want to go on the canals and rivers ideally. The room is expansive compared to a Narrowboat. Obviously limited on some of the networks, but who cares? At least you can live in style. I can see you faffing in that engine area often, needs a clean up and a lick of marine paint probably. :)
Have been following your channel for sometime and am so pleased for you. What a change from your yacht! Hope you will love waterways life.I have had a narrowboat for almost 10 years and I still love it .Are you planning to cruise or will you be resident in a marina? Coincidentally I have a Vetus engine , very reliable, and the worktops in my 20 year old Chinese built boat are exactly the same black granite as yours.Very well built by a shipyard and all the outer steel is fully galvanised so no rust.Hope you settle in well.Your new home looks brilliant.
Hey Chris, nice to hear from you. We've paid for three months at Staniland, just to get all the systems up and running. After that, we intend to constantly cruise. It's what we're used to, after all. Great to hear you're happy with your Vetus. Our last engine was a Beta. A little smaller and only one alternator, so this setup is a little different.
I am really going to miss your saling to remote places that I've visited myself. But I'm happy for you to be still independant and closer tocivilization. Fair winds or should I say fair diesel?
I think you've made the right choice. I could never understand why folks put up with all the problems & inconvenience of sailing in a tiny yacht just to see boring beaches & grubby towns. Enjoy yourselves!
Wow it's a lovely boat with so much potential to make it your own touch on it, I for one will enjoy the new direction of boat work and to see where you get too, I thought you might of gone Norfolk broads boating bet kept that to myself, better to wait and see kind of thing, Cafe Amigo was busy last Sunday with quite a few tour de France types there and us lot of course, Liz don't worry about the soot stains, I barely noticed ;)
Unfortunately the Broads are cut off from the rest of the canal network, Brian. We can get close to them via The Wash, which would be a day out on the open sea 😮
@@followtheboat I only thought the Broads because canal boat in the comments got a Noooo ( computer says no ) and do know the Broads is limited unless you go out and round into the canal system, not as bad as taking a canal boat to Holland from here lol

The biggest difference besides the size, with the canal boats you don't have the same weather issues as you are on protected waters. The wide beams have restrictions on where they can go, over half the canals are not accessible.
Yes, no more weather to worry about! Regarding access, that's Dutch barges. Widebeams can access most of the networks apart from the bit in the middle and a couple of others.
Big thanks to Jamie for not telling me about the soot stains on my jumper, and filming before I washed my hair. 🙄 Liz
😅Ah, that "Y" chromosome is pretty powerful at affecting the vision, though! Just makes you ask, "Y?"

I'm a woman on a boat and I'm NEVER clean 😂😂
Just thought - there’s plenty about canal channels but very few about the rivers and guys would very interesting have fun xx

Cosy is definitely how we would describe it, especially with that fire cranked up in the colder months.
As much as I miss your sailing adventures. I am equally looking forward to your canal adventures.
I think the canals have just as much to offer in terms of adventures. Just a little different!
Looking forward to more on the mechanicals and systems as well as new adventures!
Same same but different with regards to the mechanics, I'm hoping. Completely new scenery though!
Congratulations on your new home, may it bring you happiness and a lovely new life
Thank you, Michael 🙏
Congratulations on the new boat! I hope it serves you well. It'll be well suited for some very different water-based adventures than we've all grown used to seeing.
Yes, let's ring the changes! Can't wait!
Oh, your boat looks beautiful. I'm so happy for you.
Cheers, Aaron 👍👍
Looks well built ❤
She's the Oyster of widebeams, built by Blue Water Boats.
Even stained, you look so happy Liz. Congratulations to both of you!
Neither Liz nor I noticed that at the time 😂
Happy Days are here again.
Thanks for sharing. 😊
Always a pleasure. Happy Days are here again!
I love it! Way to roll with the changes guys!
It couldn't be more different. Well, it's still on the water, still had a diesel engine and is still 12v, but you know what I mean!
I love sailboats but this is absolutely an upgrade.
Aye, we couldn't have put it better ourselves.
I’ve not watched your show much, but I feel simply delighted for you both-thank you!
Thank you too 😃👍
congratulations on yr new home and adventure....for all of us
Thanks, Susan. Hope you are keeping well.
The boat looks great. I'm sure there will be plenty of Happy Days. 😊
I think that's pretty much guaranteed 👍
Oh, wow - looks wonderful! I’m feeling all warm and fuzzy inside, on your behalf 💕
Hey Carin, nice to hear from you! Hope you are well. Lots of love from our new boat!
That is incredible, you will lose each other in that space. What a well finished interior.
That's why we bought it. Now we don't have to look at each other all the time 😂
Well that's certainly a change, to say the least. There comes a time when one lifestyle finishes and another begins. No better or worse just different. I hope she is all you want her to be. Good fortune with your new adventures.
Thank you for the kind words. Yes, it's just different. No worse, and maybe a bit better, especially as this is all new to us.
You guys look great on the boat! Congratulations
Thanks, Teresa. We're very happy. Happy Days!

@followtheboat perfect, hope you've got a good stack of logs and somewhere to keep them!
How exciting!!🎉

She's lovely, well done, I'm sure you will enjoy a slightly slower pace of life. When you get a pooch he or she is going to love curling up infront of the log burner after a frosty winter walk
Yes! That's what the log burner is there for, Darren. Needs a dog 🐶
looking forward to it.

Thanks for posting and sharing. Glad to see how excited you are despite “the usual issues.”
It wouldn't be a boat if it didn't have the usual issues, Lance 😁
Congrats on selling and buying! Gotta say, this looks much better for you than sailing offshore across the Pacific as you once planned.
I think it'll be a slightly calmer passage 😉
Many great daze ahead. Congratulations!
I see what you did there 😉
I love your new boat. So happy for you both!
Thanks, Kay 👍
Thankyou 👍 looks very nice

Congrats on the new boat. Wishing you both all the best. Safe “canaling”.
We need to learn the correct terminology, Anthony. Canaling? Boating? Barging?
Very cool... Congratulations guys!

Going to miss the sailing but you really enjoy your next adventure
Marvellous, it looks absolutely great.

Your new home is beautiful! It'll be exciting to see once you've moved in.
Hey Susanne. We moved in today (just after recording this) and she already looks lived in! We'll have some footage of the 10,000 boxes blocking our exits soon!
Thank you for sharing every detail here! Were in the middle of doing a major refit on our 65' power catamaran, and this helps us a lot!!
Ooh, we really enjoyed doing our refit. Good luck and let us know if you have any questions.
@followtheboat Awesome thank you and Thanks for following our journey! 🔥❤️🔥
I like it. Looking forward to following the new boat.
Cheers, Peter. We're happy to know you're sticking around 👍
Congratulations, good choice. A wider boat will be extremely comfortable. Can it cross the Channel? Endless relaxed adventure ahead (no sail changes).
It could in very calm seas, although Brexit robbed us of long-term cruising plans in Europe.
@ In Australia at the moment. I just bought a security camera with twin cameras and 180 degree vision they claim sees like daylight in the dark,…in colour, and it does just tested that. It is the ReoLink Argus. Have a look, you might want one Fore and Aft. And on a boat like your new one could be used for navigation too. Im returning in late April, with my ReoLink which when mounted in the Saloon my sister can see what is going on through the G5 internet connectivity. Awesome features and easy fault free connection.
Thanks for this. I have been considering security cameras so this is great info 👍
Congratulations 🥂

Beautiful boat. Looking forward to your future films.
You hit it on the head, Julian. As sailors we're used to no space and just got used to it, so this is ridiculously luxurious in comparison.
Congratulations to you both!! The definition of hygge❤!
I had to look that one up, Heather, but you're absolutely spot on!
congratulation! I’m so very excited for you…and us (your viewers) lol. thank you for continuing the adventure. would love to see more photography themed videos if you can budget it
Yes, the camera is raring to go. It'll be a little different from earlier work but we hope to profile more photography in future episodes 📸👍
Congratulations on your new home.
Looking forward to see more of inland UK.
It should be interesting, and a little different too!
Congratulations! Been following the boat for years, glad you love the new one!
Also, please change the name.

Onto seeking out remote pubs in Yorkshire now, Bill 😂
