  • Another limited edition this set is really lovely with wonderful details on loco and coaches alike.
Take your seats for the Lyme Regis Billy.
Note I made a slight slip up at 6:39 with the locos age, they were in fact 77 years old in 1959

Your commentary, which almagates history and the locomotives. I like the gentle pace, which is good for the subject matter. Thank you. Patrick, Northamptonshire

As a child we used to be able to play and explore the old Lyme station for years until it was eventually dismantled. At the time we didn’t realise what a wonderful history we had just minutes away from our secondary school.

Superb video Mike, definately looks like a brilliant railway set!
Really liked some of the shots taken, especially those representing other locomotives that worked the branch

thanks! I enjoyed that and the 4-4-2T and its coaches were lovely. As a teenager I favoured the LSWR lines and Bullied Pacifics and the M7's that were available then. Now my layout is set in Kent but you've made that Radial tank a very tempting purchase!

Again you have bought a model train pack back to life . Terrier no.8 Freshwater of the IWSR was LSWR 734 on this branch line .

Many thanks Robert, ah yes. I see Hornby plan to release the two from the branch in LSWR livery, so an order will be placed from me :)

Come on I want some N gauge ex LSWR suburban coaches! You 00s modellers get all the best stuff as poor old N gauge just get LNER steam, growlers or modern railway stuff

@@ModelRailwaysUnlimited he was a clever guy who started as a tool maker before joining the southern region. He also worked the Seaton branch where in his breaks he got to know a local toy shop owner. A certain Mr Pritchard. That is how Roy worked on the first tooling for peco track !

Thank you Mike, some great history again. Amazing how those Adams Radial's lasted so long. So many lines that could have been very useful today were lost to Dr. Beeching's axe. Shame. Keep safe, David.

Great video Mike. I quite like the SR locos, yours seem to run very nicely. The curse of Bachmann split chassis and splitting nylon axles strikes again? I managed to fix mine with super glue, heat shrink and sanding with emery paper till it fit the axle bearing. And silicone grease. Goes quite well now, but not sure how long it will last. Thanks mate. Steven.

Late to the party, but, have to say that this is a superb little set! Got it as well and must say that Hornby have nailed the look and performance of it too! The loco can crawl around at near imperceptibly slow speeds, allowing realistic motion and nearly silent to boot! Detail is superb, which we find very relevant as this very ( running numbered)), engine passed by no more than a mile or two east of our house, back in the day! Nostalgic or what!? Cheers
