- Minecraft Best IRON FARM - 1.20+ Iron Farm Tutorial
Hey guys, in this video I show you how to make a very easy and efficient Iron farm which gives a lot of iron!
This tutorial shows you how to make the BEST IRON FARM In Minecraft 1.19, but it works on older versions as well! With this farm you can get tons of iron in Minecraft. This is an Iron golem farm. You can build this in survival.

For those that talk about their farms only working at night, it is because one of the requirements for the panicked villagers to summon a golem is for them to have slept in the past 20 minutes. When you first finish the farm, there will be no iron golems spawning in the area until the first night afterwards, when the villagers will try to sleep (and be waked up 2 seconds later constantly by the zombie, which is normal) and start the 20 minute timer in which golems will spawn, covering both the current night and the following day, as they last 10 minutes each. This also applies when you go back to the farm during daytime after being away from it for an extended period of time, as the villagers in the farm did not start any 20 minute cronometer because the farm along with them was unloaded, so you'd have to, yet again, wait until the first night after loading it for all the iron golem requirements to be met again.
My iron golems are spawning outside the farm . help
@@insanityofficial2455What do you exactly mean by "outside the farm"? 'Could it be that you have not elevated the farm? If so, spawn proofing the surrounding area should do it (cover it with slabs, buttons, etc so that the golem cannot spawn on them). Golems can spawn in a relatively small 17x17x11 area around the village, so it should not be too tedious
my villagers wont sleep
@@nowaywalkerr4796 as I said in my main comment, they will try to sleep but be almost immediately waked up by the zombie. But that one second in which they lay in their beds is enough to start the 20 minute timer. If you mean they are not sleeping at all (which would be unusual) cover the side of their pod facing the zombie with solid blocks (so that they don't see the zombie) and see what happens
hey man i wonder if it works in bedrock edition
For those whose Iron Golems are spawning outside the farm,You most likely built the iron farm around a terrain which is too mountainous. You can fix this by spawn-proofing the surrounding area with slabs. Me personally, I made a border 19 blocks out, completely around the farm, and filled it in with slabs.. Also, spawnproof any ravines that might be under your iron farm. After doing this, my iron farm worked perfectly. Additionally, I suggest adding in a lightning rod above the middle of the farm, as well as bubble elevators to get in and out of the collection area relatively easily.
To note, the slabs have to be BOTTOM HALF slabs.
After an overnight AFK Session with the edits I made to the farm, I got about 12,000 Iron, or 1,800 an hour
if you are still playing in your world is this farm still working?
@@Buffstonesword Yes, works like a charm.
Is that 19 blocks from the edge of the center funnel or the edge of the 4 cells
Works perfectly in 1.19.4! Excellent design. If you put zombies in first, put dirt in between their line of sight and where you want villagers to go. Otherwise the villagers won't want to sleep in the pods. If they refuse to lie down, change the direction the bed is facing. Soul Fires def worth it as well!
Mine isn’t working at all😢 only thing I did different was use torches next to the water to keep them from freezing cause it’s in a snowy biome.

Just a bit of friendly advice: maybe put the lava in the killing chamber after you've finished building the whole structure. I was following the tutorial and accidentally threw my enchanted diamond axe into the water, so it ended in the lava and I lost it forever. 😅

READ THIS BEFORE READING OTHER COMMENTS
Be careful in the comments to the people saying "for people in 1.20 etc... dont do this do this instead"
Sometimes it's super useful but for this farm in 1.20 and 1.20.1 the tutorial is perfect.
Remember that most of the time the people who built the farm the wrong way will comment more than people with no issues.
For that video dont bring the villager closer, don't put trapdoors instead of glass, don't put a solid block instead of slabs etc...
These where the thing that made me lose a lot of time.
I built it like the tutorial after trying some things i saw in the comments and it works perfect so don't do the same mistake please.
Great vid tho voltrox :) sorry for my english verbs and sht
(the only tips i can give you is that campfires are pretty necessary for the iron per hour, bring a lot of buckets for saving time, and place torches under the platforms so mob dont wait here during daylight)
I built a farm like in this video. but why doesn't the golem want to spawn. im in 1.20.1
Tested times with both campfires and withouth exactly the same; 12 seconds to die for each golem. The rest pretty useful thx!

Dude!!! I appreciate the non annoying or overly stimulating music along with amazing edits!
I just like the way it doesn't be annoying with the steps and gets to the point and the fact it lists stacks and numbers instead of just number (ex: 1st 53 instead of 117)
Hey for your items list, it should be two stacks and eight stairs you have it as a stack and 20. you’re 68 stairs short according to your items list
Yeah man, I was wondering if I counted something wrong when I ran out of stairs before finishing the build, but that explains it. Thank you!
Thank you, i appreciate it
it’s even more than that i think of you include those stairs at the bottom of the first pit
You also need 58 Glass instead of 38. 8 Villager Cages with 7 Glass each and 2 on the chests. Mistakes like that that happen when you build everything in creative. Would be so nice if this would be built in Survival.
Thank you! I was just confused what the st meant lol 😅
I struggled a lot with this, I'm playing in single player, and the only way i found it to work with *all 8* capsules separately spawning golems at once was by using 8 zombies instead of 4. There was probably a better way to fix this but i tried eveything in the comments and even researched all about zombie scaring and sht. Was a pain but was worth it. No one else seemed to struggle with the same issues as me so maybe i'm just a little special. idk

Love this tutorial, build this farm a few times in my worlds because its super easy and reliable, but it definitely doesnt produce 4500 iron per hour. I built this on land, over land, and over ocean, the best rates I got were averaging 1700. Which is still pretty good for a farm this easy to build, but I cant get them to produce more than that.
How did you get the best results
Exactly
If a golem die instant and spawns by villager panicking the farm can produce maximum of 400 ingots
We have 8 villager spot so we get maximum of 3200 ingots
Also golem doesn't die instant, zombie dont move exactly at 600 ticks and random ticks to spawn aren't that accurate so its definitely lower than 3200
This farm has 8 villager clusters, even if it was max efficiency it would still produce 3840 per hour.
The 2 villager clusters per platform are redundant and more often than not, the spawn of one cluster gets detected by the the other cluster of the same platform, defeating the purpose of more villagers than 12.
The time for Iron Golems to get out of range is also considerably slow.
So the 1700 seems right.
have you tried building this on a mushroom island
just bring the zombie from another island by boat
@craig-zt9ot yo have you finished the farm yet
works great in 1.20 however even with the soul fires I only get 1300iron per hour compared to the advertised 4500+ iron per hour but its still enough until i decide to make a mega iron farm
I'm also playing on 1.20 but no golems spawn during the day?
u play on hard ?

In my experience, you need to make sure the villagers can occasionally sleep through a night, or the farm will stop working after a few days. I solved this in my farm with a daylight sensor which raises / lowers trapdors to hide / show the zombie.
Meaning that when it gets dark, the sensor raises trapdoors that block the villagers view to the zombie. So they villagers are not terrorized anymore and can go to sleep. When the sun comes back up in the morning, the sensor will drop the trapdoors again, and the villagers will be scared by the zombie again, and start spawning golems again.

tip: dont fuck up the material count, half of the list was off by like 10-12 blocks
Important tip: you should make this farm several blocks in the air. If you make it ground level and you leave blocks under it, golems will sometimes spawn outside the water platforms. In case you made it ground level, you'll have to empty the ground under the platforms.
Edit: an area of 8 blocks (horizontal and vertical) away from any other possible spawn surface should be enough, because this is the max range from villagers in which golems can spawn currently.

2. the golems are not spawning even if the villagers are sleeping and waking up
can someone provide me the solution plss
edit- also there are green stars coming from that particular villagers who are not spawining iron golems
block the view to zombie with temp blocks at night. make sure all villagers are asleep, remove and replace the water under zombies to reset bobbing then unblock view to zombies. If villagers are not sleeping you've done the bed placement wrong. It's a good idea to double check you've built the zombie enclosure correctly.
@5:23 you need to place slabs 1.5 blocks above the first slabs, you'll need to crouch place the block to place it in the air, otherwise it places strait ontop of the slab and you'll be 0.5 block too low. I made this mistake and it messed up the spawns.
I found through the comments that there wasnt a clear enough solution to the issue of golems only spawning on 1 side of the farm. Heres how i fixed it!!
1. Must be 3 villagers in each cage.
2. The placement of the beds are very specific. Just one wrong placement could mess up the spawning. At night, observe each villager cage to see which bed is not being used at all.(You’ll know, as working beds will be used by villagers sleeping and getting up repeatedly.) When you find it, flip it the other way. I suggest using scaffolding for all of this process because villagers can stand on it when they get back up.(I unfortunately lost a villager when i placed a leaf block near the cage when fixing my issue.)
My farm now spawns 1 on each side and occasionally 2 on a side at a time. Lmk if thats normal or if i should be having 2 each side per spawn.

bro thank you, you are my hero
Isnt suppose to always spawn 2 per side?

Lol
Works really well. I built mine over an ocean by building the portion he dug underground and got about 1500 in 10-15 minutes
why are you lying about this in 15 minutes with already good odds with spawn rates you'd be getting around 120 iron in 15 minutes nothing near 1500
Also make sure your storage system can handle it, to put it simply, when you think you have enough storage, you don't, add more. I left this running for a night with 3-5 double chest's worth of storage empty and when I woke up, iron wasn't even able to get picked up by the hoppers, and this was with only 3 of the 4 wings possible.
"when you think you have enough storage, you don't" best quote. It also applies to any storage system. (of smaller scale farms of course)
this is how good the farm is lol
Lol
I've installed a crafter in the storage system. Poppies go through a composter, ingots through the crafter, storing them as iron blocks straight away. It takes some extra space for the crafter circuit, but it's worth it!

Man this is a great IRON farm
Works amazing 1.20.4, if your villagers aren’t trying to sleep, break the beds and place them back, this should fix it.
does this work for java and bedrock both ? or any one of these?
mine doesn't work ,it doesn' t spawn any golems
Mine used to work now all of a sudden it isn’t producing golems
Just build it and works great. I had one issue tho :
The farm wasn't working at daytime (villger had slept). By looking closely i saw that i missplaced the villager platform, it was one block too far from the zombie platform. Changed it and worked like a charm.
I'm in java 1.20.1 btw
u suuuuure?
@@mrbm1309 I'm pretty sure that the missplaced bed platform helped to make it work daytime (replaced it and it worked) btw the bed platform are now like in the tutorial.
But a second problem arose : during night time one of the villager in each cell kept on sleeping while the others where frightened by the zombie, so i moved that bed to a different pos/orientation and problem fixed (maybe due to not positionning the bed like in the tutorial).
Can you use dirt for the farm
i just built it on 1.20.1 on spawn chunks and works so good... FOR EVERYONE HAVING ISUES WITH GOLEM SPAWNING OUTSIDE THE WATER simply put some trapdoor right nextto the stone walls (walls located on the botom, not those at the sides) and put them all in vertical position, this way the golems will track the block as a complete one and will ended up in the water :)
where exactly bro
@nileshapsingkar3723 looking at this exact 4:00 ... put the trapdoors in front of the walls in vertical position
i built this in 1.20.1 but its not working
Can you use dirt for the farm
@diegomonsalve7514 due to endermans picking up blocks like dirt or glass, it's recommended using any other solid block
How many blocks away from a village do I have to build this farm?
can confirm that this farm still works great in 1.20.2 with great rates i would suggest combining it with voltrox's villager breeder
1.20.2 here I've just copy all his instruction... but I highly suggested that you should put the lava at the end after you build this project
man will this work on java
Yo brother, my villager cant seem to want to get up the staircase when its nighttime, any tips?
@leapser try using an unemployed villager and placing a workstation a few blocks away, the villager should walk over to it, repeat this a few times
@@leapser try to remove the glass first because sometimes villager don't recognize beds nearby
Yep your like me built the whole thing in bedrock 😂 i fixed it by using the deleting all the boxes for villagers and zombies. Build a 5x5 chamber with 10 beds and 10 flecthing tables. Place one of these 5 blocks from the back wall center on each side. Enclose however you want. Bedrock picking mine up as 4 sepearte villages as soon as one dies another 1 pops up. Hope this helped some probably not 🤷🏾♂️
Can you tell more explained or make vid of showing it because I’m confuesed
Same. Thanks for the info.
Thank u
works good in 1.20.6
Any idea of why I have golems spawning outside the farm? Has something about golem spawning changed?
same :(
@@leonardolonghi1919 I haven't managed to fix it, but ive found that if you place trapdoors on the walls and stairs for the golem to get on top of them they will try to reach for the zombie and fall back in the water, killing them either way
I Dont know why but it only works in night time i did every single step right and it just works at night only+ i had to make a platform for the golems to spawn they dont spawn while im standing in the iron collecting chamber Im 1.19.4 btw
I’m having the same issue bro
I figured it out you have to break the middle glass block facing the zombie
@@itsjusttodd69 but wouldn’t the villagers jus push each other off like what did u replace it with
@@ripms_ no there should be a bed which stops them the glass block that should be broke should be facing in towards the zombie
@@itsjusttodd69 oh yea thx for clearing everything up
does this work on bedrock edition or only in java
no idea just built it on bedrock and its not working for me
I completed this farm EXACTLY as shown and it is nowhere near 4500 per hour, it only will produce 700 per hour as shown. You have to have all the villager pods 2 blocks closer to the zombies and even then you will only get 1600 per hour! And yes those figures include the soul camp fires.
For me 1600/h would be awesome cause I’m getting 360/h 😭😭😭
There should be two air units above the bed and at least one next to it, maybe because of this many people have problems like mine. Conducted many tests. The farm is operating correctly, but the inhabitants should not be closed until they sleep in their beds.
As per my afk sessions, I'm only getting about 1100 iron per hour instead of the claimed 4500,am i missing something?
I am not getting shit so be happy with 1100
@@jannod9659 if it wasn't falsely advertised, I'd have never built this farm coz there's another farm which produces same amount is 10 times easier

just 1/4 of the farm is working
I think with moving villagers its more effective to use water elevator get a bit higher than needed then either boat if at same level or use water and make a tunnel for them. Work slow with ya first on as looks like you are going to need a zombie :) so just make a spawning platform near you at 20 -50 blocks above and check if zombie spawns name tag. I've not played since 1.16. Is the line of sight work the same ?? and can you still break a pliagers shield and use him. I believe he scares from a longer distance.
Moving villagers is extremely tedious for me and I can't really handle it so I just use a datapack that lets you put a leash on them, makes things way easier
I usually have 2 job stations, composters since they break fast, lay both down on the tunnel they need to walk, when they get to one break it, then replace it after the next one (like a composter leap frog) I keep doing this until they sync with the bed, or I put the composter right next to the one block hole and then nudge them in when they go to sync up with the composter.
I built 2 more layers above and it works extremely well, strongly recomend, you should start building 3 blocks above the villagers cage.
STILL REALLY GOOD IN 1.21
thank you
love you
my farm is only spawning cats??
Tame 5 cats nearby
To anyone building this, do not count the blocks on the screen when he is making the wind, it is 17, not 19
No, they are 19. :)
@@godLyusko No, the video represents it wrong. With 1 stair and 16 to the right, you end up with a total of 17, but the video shows it as 19.
@@pandabros954 The stairs are one block in, Lmao, I know that one part of the video it seems like they are 17, but they are NOT! Watch it more carefully if you want the best experience with the farm.
welp. I have no middle in the stairs part
Can you build this over an ocean? I'm doing a survival Island and don't have that much space
Great farm! I had to remove the fence gates though as iron golems continued to get stuck on those.
uuum nothing gets stuck on fence gates you sure they were open?
try replacing them with signs maybe?
same for me but i realised i had put them one to close, what i mean is, i had put the fences om the stairs when you are not supposed to do that
If you want this to work in bedrock, all you do is connect each villager to a workstation. Just place one down. And wait until you see green particles, and then move it to that pod.
Tried this it don't work
@callumjackson8376 it takes awhile to make sure the right workstation is accessible to the right villager
Is this still working for you in the current update in bedrock? Made this thing and have been modifying and moving it around trying to get it to work for probably 4 in game days now. I used trap doors instead of glass. Each villager has a job they have slept through a whole night and still not a single golem. I do have a villager breeder about 160 ish blocks away from it. Could that be causing the problem?
@carlcousin8641 Unfortunately, I had to build a different one, but the one silent whisperer made for bedrock works great, and it's easier to make
Important! The area under the spawn area needs to be either very spacious or two blocks or less in height, otherwise (in my experience) golems could spawn right under it. Otherwise golems could spawn outside the farm.
And if you intend to stand AFK overnight, make sure to add more chests, at least to rows extra, this farm is very efficient ;)
which spawn area ?
the platforms recovered by water where the golems spawn

Okay, I'm going to ask something here:
Is there any specific villagers that you don't want in there, like Nitwits? Or does it not matter as long as they're adult villagers that can properly fit in those little boxes there?
Just wanted to ask is all.
you can use any kind of villager in iron farms
@@leviutasi3593 Nitwits take capacity and don't contribute anything to the head count, leading to less than the required villagers.
I did have to make some adjustments with the villager cages, as well as place lightning rods high up and near the center of the farm to prevent the villagers from turning into witches.
This farm works with 1.20.1. One thing to note, it may be extremely frustrating to build! I built this above ground and it took over 2 IRL days to complete this farm. You will have times where you leave a spawnable block and your zombie dies from an iron golem, or your villager jumps off when you destroy the minecart it was in.
I built this farm yesterday in under 5 hours so im not sure what your play time is that it took two days, but i just want to make it clear that this is a VERY simple farm to build, its just big.

Btw.. Is there an actual need for so large concentration pool. I suggest spawn proofing any other tile except the 3 directly below the villager pod and wall them of as sections. This will ensure that the golem one pod summons do not count as a recognized golem in 16×16×16 area of the other neighboring pod
