In October 2007 I bought a 2008 Jeep Liberty with a Lifetime Powertrain Warranty and also purchased a Lifetime Added Care plus Service Contract. Dealer told me I would need tom have an inspection done at the 5 year point to keep my warranty in effect. Nothing was included in writing about the inspection or the frequency of the inspections. I had the inspection done at the 5 year point. I had the vehicle serviced at the dealer a few times during those years for things I didn't take care of myself. I followed every maintenance requirement listed in the warranty manual. In 2020 Chrysler cancelled my warranty and the Added Care Service Contract I purchased because I didn't have an inspection in 2017 even though I had the vehicle at the dealership in 2017. Fought with them for 3 years. Even the Attorney General in my State stated they defrauded me. Chrysler's response was "If you don't like it, you can take us to court". DON'T BUY ANY CHRYSLER PRODUCT WARRANTY OR SERVICE CONTRACT!

I researched it but Chrysler isn't disclose the conditions anywhere at the time. They didn't include it in the Warranty Manuals until 2009 vehicles came out. The Jeep has been the most dependable vehicle I've had. I've had it now for 16 years and have driven it 203K Miles with no big failures so I really can't complain about the Jeep itself. Still looks and runs like new.@@lincolnmarklt

I used to work for a used car dealership during the lockdowns. However, the owner was honest (yes, I was there during the process) and he wanted to simply unload the cars and offered a ridiculous 30 day return policy which is unheard of. 95% of used car stealerships wont do that but he did. In addition there were abusive customers who would intentionally use this loophole to change or damage the cars. Customer and dealer BOTH have faults and it's not a one way street. Customers are scumbags too.

As a 5th generation UAW Chrysler employee retiree. The only resolution to resolve this entire situation is to force all of these automobile manufacturers to restructure their entire spectrum on pricing. They have completely went off the rail and the only pathway to regain their success in sales is to lower the MSRPs. If the people refuse to pay the price the manufacturers will reduce the price. That is not the only reason, they car dealers have raised prices by a lot, to make a bigger profit. I'll second everything you said. I wanted to buy a 2023 Challenger Hellcat Widebody. The honest dealer I wanted to buy from, who would sell at MSRP, didn't have enough allocations; he used the few he had to cover 2022 orders that didn't happen. My local Autonation dealer wanted $25K ADM for the same car. I said No Way. They even wanted to charge me $5K ADM for my 300C. If you are familiar with how that car ordering works, you know that makes zero sense, as I selected the dealer to order thru, and it was not part of their allocation. I ended up going 2,000 miles away to the honest dealer (Who didn't have the Challenger allocation) to get my 300C. I'm done with Stellantis and the games they encourage.

This leads to what’s going on now. Dealerships full of inventory “with major markups”! It is not just dodge, it is all dealerships. Now since they’re selling much fewer cars, they are smacking stupid high addendums so they can make money on a car. This has become a battle between the manufacturers/the dealers/the customers. At the same time, manufacturers are requiring these dealerships to build new mega luxury showrooms to keep their franchises. It’s a total mess and it is not going to end well. It’s just a matter of time. I just went to a dealership in Tampa Florida yesterday that has a $1295 dealer fee/$2500 addendum add one for nitro tires/blinking brake light/some other stupid thing and on top of that they charge $375 for titling fee which explains there are profits to the dealership within that money as well as it only costs about $80 to do the titling! Then they offer me $70,000 trade on a vehicle that books out $89,000!!! This whole thing is nonsense. They are still trying to feed on the weak!!!! All dealerships are out of control, and will pay the price at some point

Hello Mr Motivator, I agree completely with your assessment. My Dad and family owned a Plymouth dealer when I was a kid. They had a Superbird sit on the lot around one year. It had a high price from the manufacturer. The rest of the models continued to sell. Now for all the reasons you mentioned Stellantis and the Dealers have created a much worse situation for themselves. Two biggest offenders IMHO are Stellantis trying to dictate what people want to buy. And Dealers screwing over the buyers. In my past I bought a 06 Charger R/T, 12 Challenger R/T, 2018 Challenger Scat Pack. Did I mention I owned and personally restored a 69 Charger R/T? I went to SEMA Nov 2022 and my heart was broken. Last call-sheesh. Having seen the prices put me out since then. A year ago I went for a used Magnum. Cost 5k. Not even a decent down payment for the new good cars. Also Dodge putting the v-6 in chargers and Challengers and forcing them on the dealers was not smart (I believe they wanted to deplete their stock of V6’s before the discontinuation). Another bad move. Hard to believe the business majors running Stellantis figured the whole forcing EV’s on Dodge consumers would make the Hemi Buyers want them. (Tin foil hat time) -Almost as if the Europeans running Stellantis hated seeing the Hellcat Chargers and Challengers blasting past European cars on the Nurburing track in Germany. So they bought Dodge for the Ram trucks and don’t care if they destroy the iconic American muscle car. Remember the big money families in Europe that own everything there. Money to burn…

Four salesmen sat on the stoop and one got up and approached us as we looked over one. We asked him to get a key so we could look it in but for some reason we couldn’t have access to that one. So we ask if had one that we could inspect and his demeanor was it would be an inconvenience to do so. So we got back into our vehicle and proceeded up the street where a Ford dealership happened to have a
2023 Mojave on the lot with low miles which we purchased. It seems that Stellantis attitude toward the brand is reaching all the way to the sales staff. I hope someone who wants to save the brands buys the Chrysler group soon!

And it's not only Ram/ Dodge. I have a 2017 Ram 3500 dually Limited with 50k miles and excellent condition that I thought about trading before the 7 yr warranty expired, but I am keeping it a few more years due to the dealers robbing people. I have been needing to trade my Tahoe Premier for business reasons, after seeing how Chevy dealers have been ripping people off the past few years, I have just been taking the tax hit and currently have no plans on replacing the Tahoe until something changes. Boat market, I had a 2020 24' bay boat that I paid $72k out the door. In 2021 it was totaled after a tornado went over us and put 2 trees on the boat. The exact same boat was then $140k. Luckily after a lot of research I found a good dealer 4 states away with the same bay boat but different color, got that boat for $86k.
The dealers were having a great time ripping people off during covid, I was hoping the consumers would return the favor in the future!

We were supposed to pick up the car tomorrow and it is a 500 mile trip to pick up the car. After the last Dealership gave me the run around and tried to fleece me for a $25,000 markup due to "high demand", I went down the street and bought a Toyota Tacoma for under MSRP. But, it's not just the Mopar camp trying to screw the buyers, Ford, Chevy, and Now Toyota, and Nissan are trying to play the game and fleece the unsuspecting buyers... They made me come back to sign a financing contract which they made up and tried to have me illegally sign something with falsified information. He also charged me $500 for wheel locks when the scat pack plus package that I bought included the wheel locks in the package I bought. It was ridiculous. I confronted the finance guy about this and he told me “oh that’s because you have some in your trunk and another set installed on the vehicle, so you get two sets.” I said “I’ve been driving this car for two weeks there’s nothing in the trunk.” Then he says “oh well I don’t know I’m just saying.” Honestly such a horrific experience I can honestly say I will never consider buying another vehicle produced by any company associated with Stellantis.

But when your average car payment is $500 OR MORE for a new car people just don't have the money. And forget about buying a $90-$100k truck or performance car unless you can swing a $1000 car payment. Also, the lenders have tightened up requirements for giving out loans and you can see how bad things are getting, and trust me, it will get MUCH worse.

AWESOME video and you're totally right. After a LOYAL dodge customer for 45 years I went to buy a Challenger and almost GOUGED with huge markup. I walked away and vowed not to EVER NEVER buy a Dodge vehicle again.Goodbye and you lost a customer for life as well

I took my Charger for some maintenance this past week. A salesperson took me to where the cars are kept and OMG! The quantity of Challengers but especially Chargers was absolutely insane. Between V6 and all kind of V8 they had at least 250 Chargers including a Super Bee and at least 10 Daytonas,a Mopar Edition and a Demon 170.

We had been Dodge/Chrysler customers since 1999. Owned 7 different vehicles since 99. We had a 2011 Dodge Durango at 100k the motor developed a vibration. Took it to several dealers. The last dealer said look the vehicle has a 100k miles on it, you have to expect it will have vibration. I called corporate, I was told we stand behind our dealership. We bought our first Toyota in 2022. Not one issue.

If they want to sell those cars, they better start by taking 30k off the top of them. Nobody is going to put those prices for those vehicles.

I totally agree with you. I have been saying this for over a year. DCJR has fallen into six digititis. Lots here a loaded with Charger and Challengers to the point that they have run out of room on the lot. Dealers have no room for new inventory which means that they are losing sales. I took my Grand Cherokee in for service and just walked around the showroom looking at sticker prices and there was nothing there for less that $110K...there is not a Challenger Hellcat made that is worth $110K unless it is a 1969. I live in the Houston where the median income is higher that many cities around the state, but these cars are not moving. I say they are like a microwave oven...once you have one you don't need another. Dealers have screwed themselves with the "limited availability" story...just walk the lot and you quickly see that lie does not hold.

I wanted to trade my 2019 Scatpack in for Last Call Hellcat Redeye, but the price increases by Stellantis combined with dealer mark-ups were insane. I ended up buying a ZL1 1LE for $30k less and kept my Scatpack as a daily.
I ended up with a faster 0-60 and 1/4 mile car that corners far better than an HC and kept a terrific daily. I had never bought a Chevy before. Stellantis may have permanently lost a customer.

The business model occurred about 10-12 years ago, with a coffee shortage. The price spiked to $15/lb from $10 but there was never empty shelves. During the pandemic ,the shortages along the supply chain was used as a reason to inflate prices, remember masks? Lumber? Computer chips? Toilet paper? How the Russian invasion caused a huge price spike and in 2008, people quit buying cars but the auto industry would counter the high gas price with hammering the supply chain shortage. Supply shortage is the new ongoing business model for the foreseeable future. The only way recreate this is to shut down factories temporarily.

  • @PassportBrosBusinessClass
    @PassportBrosBusinessClass 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

The dealers marked these cars up for one reason: because they knew that the public was stupid enough to overpay on them. For them to try to blame the pandemic is for them to completely ignore all of the markup that they put on hellcats and Demons prior to 2020.
One of the other issues no one seems to mention is that interest rates have risen considerably since the pandemic 2020. When Russia invaded Ukraine, in 2021 the federal reserve raised interest rates, almost as if it was a reflex.
This country is fine with 3% interest but when you get to 7% interest now you’re basically paying double per month on what you have bought.
That’s what caused a lot of people to walk away from there Corvette, C8 06 allocations. Apparently Dodgers, consumer base can’t easily walk away from their allocations.
But at the end of the day, it’s also important to remember that, with the exception of the hellcat engine in these cars, these cars are old. More than 10 years old, and played out at this point. Even though people may not like the direction that the charger and challenger are going in or the jeep EV the fact is that they are going to sell even if they are limited numbers.

I'm glad you mentioned the dealers being predatory & taking advantage of the less knowledgeable customers. Which to your point is going to come back & bite them eventually. The banks & financing are to blame & the insurance industry is going to get impacted as well. A storm is coming & they sold their soul. So the consequences for that has to be paid. Good lesson for the auto industry still coming.

It’s the pricing. Myself, my wife and my sister are looking for new vehicles this month. We started at Jeep and laughed at the pricing. I’ve had several jeeps as late as 2019 and the same trim is like 20k more. Not going to happen. It’s stupidity. They’ve raised their MSRP almost 50% since 2020. That’s not going to move inventory. On a side note I say that dodge Hornet at a dealer and the ones they had were in the 50’s. lol. I couldn’t believe something that competes with the low end Toyota and Honda small SUV’s was almost twice the price. Insane.

My neighbor is a retired Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep parts manager. I have been watching his driveway for over 40 years. He drove all Chrysler vehicles, and his driveway was filled with them. Even most of his friends drove Jeeps and Ram trucks. But lately it’s been anything but Stellantis.

I am a first time Ram Customer. I wanted a 2023 Ram PowerWagon in the summer of '23. Best price I could find was $72,000. And there was only one in that price range. Still $20,000 too rich for my blood. So I found a 2023 White(my color) Ram Power Wagon with 22,000 miles. Jumped on it and haven't looked back. Price was $55,000. Close enough to my budget and I have been very happy. No significant issues except gas mileage. But what do you expect in a 3/4 ton crew cab 4x4 with a 410 hp v-8 ? Gas is cheap. I do want a bed mounted 110 gallon auxiliary tank.
    Very happy!!

Very good and well thought out video. You are absolutely right and this seems to be going across the board on many products and services. I think we are not just tired of being milked but the behaviour just leaves a bad taste in our mouth instead of the great feeling of buying something new and exciting brand loyalty only goes so far and then buyers become very mercenary about the whole thing

I agree sir. Been following you for years. I owned four different Challengers ( 17, 19 RT, 19 Scat Pack standard body and a 21 Scat Pack Widebody). I tried to close a deal on a 23 Scat Pack Widebody. Obtained the VIN and stock number. I was working the deal ( got them down to $51K). The sales manager stepped in and raised the price to $58K. I ran the VIN number through a confidential "source" through Dodge FCA/STELLANIS and my insurance company. The vehicle was coming back as a DEMO and warranty was activated in March. I argued back and forth with sales manager. I reported the dealership to the BBB and filed a complaint with the FTC ( they are trying yo yo financing) which is illegal. I have also found out the higher end Challengers/Chargers are sitting on their lots for over 340 days. It's fricken ridiculous. They are trying to rip off customers. It's better to try to work a deal on a RT, than a higher end Scat or Hellcat.

I don't understand why MOST dealers do the things they do... Makes no sense... I always liked the gladiators, but wasn't going to spend 10K or more over the price of a nicely loaded Colorado at MSRP... Then just before the end of the year Stellantis put 15% off MSRP and a FEW dealers matched that 15%. Most went at least 10%. So, I had a dealer doing 30% off and made a deal under 43K on the 61K MSRP. I did good.
