I’m a union ltl driver. I make between 140 and 160k a year. But ups drivers make what you make driving a package car at top scale. We have company paid medical and pensions. I once made 8,900 in one week . All the proof is in my videos Not knocking you I’m sure you make more than 250k especially if you stay out

@ good plan on getting an older truck as a keeper. Plan on the same as I bank more money and acquire more knowledge and tools to be able to fix myself. N14 is a good engine having driven a few in Western Stars hauling dirt and equipment and logs. You can get decent fuel mileage with them if geared right. 12.7 Detroit would be my personal favorite as you can get a lot out of them without spending stupid money . Anyway that’s down the road for me and my DD15 will keep me occupied and my son can learn to work on it while also learning new swear words.

I retired about eight years ago. The industry has changed a lot, but I’ll tell you this the N 14 I had was one of the best engines I ever had. Lots of power it only had a 10 speed 13 would’ve been better anyways have a good one.
Over 100K gross s still heavy haul. You own the trailer, or are you leased on to a carrier that provides your trailer? Good plan to have a pre-emissions truck as backup. Much less expensive to maintain.
I’m leased on hazmat insurance is expensive, for now. I have a flatbed trailer, and my truck is fully deleted but I don’t think the ISX is a good motor well its good for 500,000 miles but to expensive to rebuild

@@chrismoody5977 no multi axel just keeps you more local it pays more per load, but a tandem is more versatile to stay loaded, you would be out 5 days with a tandem.

i was thinking the same 7 axle runing heavy and hazmat on top of it ... i run empty probably 50%+ miles home daily and gross around $250k-$300k as well pulling a reefer trailer local .
