I been playing guitar for 15 years & I wish you were around when I was learning. This is great tutorials. Hopefully every beginner/intermediate players click on your videos.
One of the best guitar lessons on YT. This guy is the perfect teacher. I would like to add: Always start to rehearse a riff slowly. Very slow, so you get all the right notes stored in your brain, in the right order. Repeating say ten times with excactly the same moves in slow motion, you have finally stored the right finger progression into your memory. Afte that you can play it without even thinking of, which notes your are picking……and then gradually speed up the tempo, untill you reach the desired beats pr. minute. Thats the first guitar lesson in my opinion. Keep up the good work, and rock on friends. Per in Denmark😎🇩🇰
I just happened upon you while looking for more information on power chords and chord alternatives. But what I really needed is what I found here! Implementation with real life, real songs, and explanations. Your website is very interesting. I’ve never seen anything quite like it and trust me I’ve been looking. I have subscribed and look forward to learning more. Thank you!!!!!
It’s always an exciting moment to see a new building blocks of rock video! I’m starting to digest the major CAGED shapes so it’s really helpful to dive deeper and see these shapes put to use in all the classics.
Thanks so much for this and all your other videos. These are THE BEST guitar tutorials and learning tools on TH-cam I've ever come across, period. You are really helping me along the improvement journey. Your app is brilliant. Thank you again for all your wisdom. 👏 👏 👏
This is great for newer Praise and Worship players as the chord chart often calls for "slash" chords such as D/F#. The third in the bass sounds great!!!
Thank you for doing this series. I know a fair bit of theory (a long slow road). And in my studies, I have noticed that there are certain common "shapes" or little bits and pieces that are used by a lot of guitarist that are fragments or pieces of particular pentatonic shapes (Like the Albert King box). Over time, I too, have built up a little catalogue of these parts and pieces. But the way you show the shape, show some familiar songs, and demonstrate how to work around them is exactly what a lot of us need or could have used early on. Keep it up. If you have a chance, look at some of Slash's soloing. He often plays a shape over the five chord and slides it back 2 frets and plays the same motif over the 4 chord. That would be a good one to discuss.
I cannot thank you enough for this series. My interest in playing has gone up 1,000% since finding your channel. I had been working on scales as the entree to improvising, but learning these licks is so much more useful and immediately applicable to songs I really want to play.
This is exactly what I have been needing, the nuanced riffs that are essential. I've mastered all the pentatonic positions major and minor and know some songs but really need to build my stockpile of rifts and licks. This is very helpful. Really appreciate your content!
Your videos are absolutely fantastic! Thank you so much for what you do. Your way of teaching is so refreshing. It's so much fun and inspiring to learn all these building blocks as you call them. I'm sitting here with my guitar having a blast. 🎸😊👍🎸
Absolutely brilliant lesson. I’m new to the channel and love it. I’ve been playing for years and stuck.. this lesson was like unlocking a new level. Thanks a million 🙏☘️☘️☘️
Finding this channel has really been the highlight of my guitar journey for the past few years. Love the content. Not many people are explaining the theory or giving examples. Thank you
Knocking basics out of the park yet again!!! Very cool how you show how different songs share similar building blocks but also then get into the specific fine details as well. 👏
Simply one of the best instructional videos! Thank you for sharing and showing! I’ve been fumbling around rhythm guitar many decades and you’ve shown me some of my favourites I’d never learnt!
I could write a long, detailed comment about how much this page of yours has helped me but suffice to say...THANK YOU Kevin! I have been stuck in neutral for a while now and your page is a breath of fresh air and new ideas!
This is the first video ive ever been compelled to comment on after years of watching youtube. Thanks for the great content. Your app is fantastic. All aspects are greatly appreciated. Kudos for the player view. I've been wanting for someone to do that since I stated to learn guitar a couple of years ago. So brilliant! Thanks again!
I love what you’re doing here and that you referenced Marty. I’ve learned so much from him on his channel, how he teaches a version of a song has been so accessible to me. However as I’ve started to learn some music theory I’ve become fascinated in the “why” riffs or progressions work or sound great. From what I have seen so far this is a fantastic complement to those kinds of lessons. Before I’d been taught some CAGED and scales this lesson would have been great but so much of what’s in here would have gone over my head. Thank you for putting this together; I now have some great things to go and practice.
What a brilliant teacher and teaching method this is by far the Chanel I have been searching for a very long time. It goes without saying I have subscribed and of course hit the like button which I’m sure everyone else will also do, it’s the very least we can do. Once again thanks and I am eagerly looking forward to your next lesson.
Another top lesson - keep them coming. Loving your work. Its adding some great bits and pieces for my playing that i havent really picked up from anywhere else (other than when studying specific songs and your knowledge of songs is WAY wider than mine).
Good day Sir: Wow, amazing video and channel. I play along with records , tapes and cds. Where i have the problem... is with the counting and trying to match the guitar strums with it. What i think is throwing me off is the drums and the bass and what the bass is doing with the drums. What is the bass doing with the drums? When the drummer is using the kick drum are the kick drums the main count of a song? And is the snare the 2 and 4 ???? I cant figure out the whole drumming thing and when they use the cymbals. For the life of me i cant stum and count the beat at the same time if i am follow tab. I know a few songs but if im not playing with the recording, i cant play them. Could you do a indepth video on counting the beat and the strumming with it?? Please???? Also, could you do a in depth video on scales and soloing?? I can play the scales...... but i cant solo with them. Could you do a indepth video on that too?? Love the channel, and how you are breaking down stuff. Also checked out your web. Wow!
Love your videos mate, thanks! I've been playing guitar for a long time but my 'riffs, licks and tricks' knowledge is severely lacking. These videos have given me some great tools to use in between around regular chords.
A light 💡 has come on for me again …. I can really see the A shape the G shape and the E and how they relate and connect … the inversion thing just became clearer … another piece of the puzzle 🧩 👍🏻
I love what you do. Can't believe no one has yet. Been looking for something like your site since I got a guitar shaped fire lit under my ass a few months ago.
I've been playing for *years* and I've always bee frustrated that some of my licks just don't sound right. This guy comes along and shows me what I've been doing wrong in the first 15 seconds. lol
I’ve struck gold finding this channel 😮😮
Exactly what I said!
True dat!
Right?!
I agree too!
Me too.
It is no surprise to me that this channel is blowing up so quickly - this is exactly what most guitarists want to see.
I been playing guitar for 15 years & I wish you were around when I was learning. This is great tutorials.
Hopefully every beginner/intermediate players click on your videos.
Agree , never too late
I‘m playing for 40 years and I knew how to play the songs showcased here. But still there have been some nuggets for me.
You’re done learning?
There’s lots of ‘how’ videos out there but hard to find ‘why’ ones. This was amazing. Thanks!
