    There is a lecture from 1998 (University of Florida) where Buffett says that he has been looking into Japanese stocks and that he can borrow money at very low rates but he has not found anything yet. So Buffett can have a concept in his head (buying a basket of undervalued foreign stocks by using cheap leverage in the foreign currency) for decades and act when he finds an opportunity. 22 years of waiting before he acted. Buffett is a gangster.

    Idk why but I just remembered when I was watching some of mohnish's older videos when he didn't have a good mic, and now feeling grateful for all you commenters on here that helped convince Mohnish to get a high quality mic. Now we can hear all these Buffett and Charlie stories and investing ideas in general thanks to you guys

    I fully agree with Mohnish. Unfortunately, I haven't had the same luck. I created my business and ran it for 20 years. I became very bored to deal with all the politics and stupidity. Then I moved to the employee role, and after 10 years, I ended up dealing with many idiots. After all the frustrations, I cut all my living costs and became a swing trader, and I am doing very well. Last month was my best month ever . Regards Turkey I went there last year and the country looks like my Portugal 30 years ago, but has very cheap labour and relatively skilled. Is a very good emergent country to invest .

    Mohnish, I love your investments in Met Coal. Your approach of simple ideas and high bets on these is my learning path. I hope to achieve a comparable confidence in my ideas to also make remarkable bets on them. Currently more than two dozen investments are running well for me but the bets are too low on each because I always be afraid that I did not cover all information…

    I still think micron will do well. Like you said it's really hard for a fourth player to come in the picture and just bc one of the players lowers their price does not mean people will quickly switch over to the cheapest producer.

    • @ethanadkins5638
      @ethanadkins5638 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So I have invested in Micron largely on Pabrai's thesis. I was somewhat surprised when he sold his position in the company, but I remain invested. The one bit of information that he leaves out, and maybe it's not significant, is that Samsung did come around to cutting their memory production. Maybe its still not enough of a cut for Mohnish to think they came back to their senses.

    To catch a salmon, a spear isn't ideal as you have to aim beneath the salmon. If you miss, you will scare the other salmons. It's best to use an Algonquin fish trap and check later.

    warren buffet berkshire is not performing for last 20 years. Please put some light on that

    • @stevenbond4637
      @stevenbond4637 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hear this a lot but I think Berkshire are doing great. Twenty years ago it was about 80,000 dollars a share, now it's 550,000 dollars a share. If we leave out that weird company Lindt & Sprüngli AG, the second dearest shares in the world, then a Berkshire share is worth nearly x100 times more than any other company share in the world. In the twenty years it's been 'not performing', a Berkshire share has increased in price by nearly x100 times the current share price of any other company in the world (save one). Also, when people say it hasn't performed for 20 years they are not working out the earnings power or intrinsic value of Buffets companies, they are looking at the market price. If they listened to Buffet better, they wouldn't consider market price a fair gauge of Berkshire's performance. And even if we are talking about Berkshire's stock price, it's not going so bad lately, a double in the last 3 years for example. The 50% a year growth Buffet says he'd get if he was working with 10 million in small caps just won't happen in Berkshire unfortunately, it's just too big, and a 7x in twenty years is well below the 20x or so we see in Microsoft say, but half a million dollars a share is hardly struggling. It's been performing just dandy for over 50 years now and it's set up so well that it's probably going to keep performing for the next 50 years as well. If it performs as well as it did over the last 20 years it will be worth about 60 million dollars a share at a rough guess. I might still be alive then and when I was born they were about 250 quid, that'll be a 240,000X in my lifetime, pull up your socks Buffet, lol.
