  • Phuntsho Tshering is Bhutan’s glacier specialist and the only person authorised to climb the Himalayan country’s sacred mountains. He spends months away from home measuring the rapidly melting glaciers, while faithfully recording videos on his phone for his daughter, Yangchen.
    Yangchen in turn has an inner dilemma. She prays that her father won’t disturb the Snow Lion, the mythical embodiment of the glacier which the Bhutanese believe could provoke a natural disaster. Meanwhile at school she is taught that the biggest threat to survival of the Snow Lion is not her father, but climate change.

    Oh, Bhutan!
    When the rest if civilization dies, you will be our last testimonial to the hopeless state of man!
    Teach your children well. Respect your elders. Love the Earth.

    Really enjoyable little doc. Let's hope we can find a way to stem the tide and maintain the unspoiled nature of countries like Bhutan

      Why should he "survive a day" at the place you mentioned? He is not climbing these Himalayan mountains cause he wants to, he is doing to do survey of the glaciers so that the Bhutanse government can take appropriate actions to prevent flooding/bursting of any glacier lakes , he is spending months away from his family doing this which I don't think understand the value

    Go vegan. It is the most important thing. World veganism is the future. 🌱💪

    • @MrGrumpyGills
      @MrGrumpyGills 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Our ancestors were omnivores and our bodies are built accordingly (teeth, digestion etc.). We cannot live on plants alone. Veganism is not healthy and it won't save the environment, either.
      By the way, did you know that by building off shore windparks the ocean floor gets irreparably damaged? That's just one example of many of how ideology destroys nature.
