    • @FGame2star
      @FGame2star 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @Bart Pomerantz well I value women for their accomplishments but I don't want a woman that consistently belittles or questions me, it just seems like she wouldn't be able to keep that under wraps, and a confident more successful man than her would put up with that even less. so she has to go after poor betas or maybe a much younger guy that doesn't know any better.

      SNL doesn't allow any comic to display talent. SNL is a detriment to comedy. Anyone that goes there suffers for it

    • @motogriso1
      @motogriso1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I read David Spades book and heard other things. SNL demands aggressiveness and you have to be good at writing new material. This lengthy interview showed Melissa as passive against Whitney’s aggressiveness. And it showed Melissa checking out. I have for a long time wanted Melissa to have more airtime on SNL but from the things I noted and I assume she is not constantly writing new skits I think SNL will never make her a Kristen Wig or Kate McKinnon. Hopefully she will always find a venue for her rich talent.

    • @motogriso1
      @motogriso1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      SmithCommaBenjamin
      You mean
      Bill Murray, Chevy Chase, Dan Akroyd , Mike Myers, Dana Carrey, Chris Rock, David Spade, Adam Sandler, Billy Crystal, Will Ferrell, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Amy Poehler, John Belushi, Jimmy Fallon, Kristen Wiig, Chris Farley, Bill Hader, Kenyan Thompson, Andy Sanberg, Fred Armisen, Robert Downey, Jr., Tina Fey, Eddie Murphy, etc., etc.??
      It boggles the mind how many careers it launched and just imagine how much money it generated if you combined all the incomes of these people for their career beyond SNL. Amazing. Great entertainment.

    • @jyjjyc
      @jyjjyc 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @motogriso1 I feel like the thing that you miss is that she's a stand-up at heart, she's extremely likable and that counts for a lot once you graduate from SNL. It's, basically, the Harvard of comedy where people go to get their terminal degree in being funny. Much like the actual Harvard, the graduates are graded on a case by case basis and not everyone goes on to achieve superstardom. You ever seen this level of personality in a Kate McKinnon interview, no? Agree with the comments up top that SNL is more constricting than anything because it forces a bunch of talent to write sketch which isn't even something most people like seeing live. Stop judging a fish on its ability to climb a tree, make them laugh!

However when she addressed them she used the term LaninX and received an unexpected backlash. She was quite shocked by this turnout as this invented term was birthed on the internet. I think she's pretty much over trying to please others at least I hope so. SNL really has been virtue signaling rathering than seeking out talented cast members. Actual torture. The truly esoteric can distinguish and describe the sound processing differences between misophonia and hypeacusis. They're very close but distinct in the way they impact highly sensitive people.
    Whitney surely knows; she's an encylopedia of off the grid non-mainstream experiences. Melissa could describe every one of those same sonic experiences, but organically and never needing to know the academia around it. Which is of course why she is so f'ing adorable. Yay

      Respectully I'd like to say that someone can grow up in affluence and but also grow up in a family with devastating trauma. Someone can grow up poor, but with fairly healthy dynamics in the family.

    • @jellyfishbrained
      @jellyfishbrained 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@mbaker9721 You're right but I'd struggle to say growing up affluent wouldn't be significantly easier even with trauma than say someone who's broke but also has to deal with the same trauma. It sucks to say but when your rich your problems are gonna be minimized because you have a lot more resources to make it a better experience overall compared to someone who has literally no other option but to sulk in their misery with no other distractions.

    It’s so interesting to me that Whitney, an inspiration to so many women, finds it a challenge or novelty to do some of the things the women she’s inspired do so easily like it’s totally natural. It reminds me of how Fiona Apple’s new album being largely home recordings is revolutionary for her, while there are a million young female bedroom musicians because of her.

    Early October birthday here, and I agree! I don't have to compete with anybody else.
    Only downside is, everyone's already started celebrating Halloween a little, so there is already some competition for attention. But at least it's not the gift-giving kind!
