And then we go to "Yeah, but if you don't cooperate, we won't be able to sell you parts in the future" (Now he didn't say this last part- but we can all imagine it) screwed, glued and tatooed. Send rope- no, wait, send body armor.

Mario was right at 42:34. Technically public employees pay no taxes. It is the private sector who pays taxes. The public employees receive their salary and compensation from those taxes. While public employees may also pay taxes, their net earnings are all derived from taxes that were already taken from the private sector. So they simply use tax money to pay taxes and don't actually pay any real taxes themselves. It's a wash. It's also an excellent observation and another good reason to despise the majority of public employees who produce nothing of real value, provide no real worthwhile service, and just leech off of the private sector taxpayer.

In Austria the Austrians have just voted in the 'far-right' FPO. One of their manifesto commitments is to prevent businesses etc only accepting card payments. Cash is very important to the Austrians.

I just turned the big 5-0, and debt free also.
With a CBDC, the government can print money and avoid inflation by forcing you to spend it only on the things they want. That is what they think. What will happen is that people will work less in that situation because the money they earn is not very usefull to buy things beyond the limits the government sets. You can only buy so much meat or fuel and only fly once every three years.
Making more money does not help to get a better life then. The system will look a lot like communist east Europe. People no longer motivated to work hard, poverty, control, censorship. Nobody likes this, exept the ruling elite, just as in the USSR. The elite is convinced that this is the best way to save the planet from climate change and overpopulation.
If you lose 5% a year for 10 years you are actually down just over 40%. The compounding of discounts is different. Great show and, as usual, gives a lot to think about.
