The old Yankee Stadium; the house that Babe Ruth built. Also, nice vintage footage. This was the time the redbirds dominated the IRT division; both mainline and worlds fair.

Back then alot of people been reporting to the MTA that the ceiling at Fulton Street Broadway Nassau on the Western end on A/C is a mess and especially people were having a confusion to transfer from the A/C to the 4/5 2/3 J/M/Z around 2007 I think around summer 2008 Crazy right people can't stand this about the celling problem people ask what are those yellow stuff on the walls i think is just the lights up stairs probably.

Brings back so many memories when i once lived by the 4 train since 1984, i remember riding it with my mom and grandmother to my eye appointments and other places, and I'll never forget how colorful every train station looked before they got renovated. Now the IRT lines are not the same after the retirement of the Redbird trains.

I remember when the upper sections of the el still had semaphore signals in the early 60’s. Probably the last ones left in the system. Also there were plenty of lo vee trains still running on the Woodlawn.

    This was a pre-911 world...
Went off to college for the fall that year after graduating HS in the prior June. But I believe during the filming of this video, I was actually back in town having flown up for the holidays. I live closer to the 5 which had always been dominated by redbirds even more so than the 4, though in the previous year I did notice an increase in the number of R-62s.
    Thanks for this.

As l been stating that these ancient history cars of the Redbird subway cars, When special paints was picked it’s been 99 to 100% graffiti free when older cars overhaul programs began, when the page became rust and mold spots happen the entire fleet need newer re-weldings, it was a sick time these cars came to an end of an era!

The 4 train was grimey til the R62s came along. Wasn’t a fan of the redbirds. Always wanted an R62 to show up riding the 4 living in Brownsville Brooklyn. That said, I miss the authenticity of the New York subway system with the conductor calling out the next stop and riding the front car looking out the window. For that I miss the Redbirds. That authenticity is slowly dying with the new trains. And I love the new trains.
