Fantastic restoration! I love those old Elgin/Embury lanterns with their gently curving air pipes. Just came out of eight days without electricity due to Hurricane Helene and my hurricane lanterns proved worth their weight in gold during those Days of Darkness! Folks clamor for the new jive that uses batteries, but they always seem to let me down. The "old fashioned" oil lanterns, though, work perfectly year after year. I just picked up a Meva lantern to try out, and it's shown itself to be a very good lantern for the money. Of course, the Feuerhand lanterns made in Germany are the best on the market, and I'm a proud owner of a 'vintage' Feuerhand 280. I'd love to have a lantern restored like you did here. Beautiful work, and you truly honored the craftsmen who built it all those many years ago.
Thank you very much! I see you are a real connoisseur and collector of kerosene lamps, so your praise is especially valuable to me. Nature in your area is really cruel. I hope you are all right. Take care of yourself.
Outstanding restoration of that oil lamp!!! You made it look better than new and gave it a new life and purpose. Well done!!! I also enjoy restoring old items but I am a rank amateur. You are a master at this process!! The Old Army Scout… thanks for sharing your experience with us!!
Thank you for regularly viewing and commenting on my works. As for restoration, I am the same amateur, only very persistent and I simply restore a lot and gain experience.
Good to find your restoration channel, one that does it properly and meticulously! Subscribed to you just a few days back! Thanks for sharing your work with all of us here!
Thanks for watching and commenting) I hope you managed to restore your lamp more easily than I did. My lantern made me sweat a lot, especially during the assembly stage.

Beautiful job! I would also add that it would be helpful to know what your intentions were, why and what you were using to to make those changes, otherwise, as I said, beautiful job!
Thank you! I promised subtitles and I think I'll add them over time, but I'm at a really crazy pace right now. One video a week costs me a lot of effort, and I upload the video to TH-cam while it's still hot, right after editing. I don't have time, but I don't want to slow down, so that the channel does not stop developing.
At the expense of the work, I had in mind the replacement of the ends of the lid fasteners, because the latter were badly rusted up to the holes. I also replaced the triangular handle of the lid and its fasteners with a stainless one. I subjected all parts to the passivation process so that even when the paint is damaged, rust does not creep from the chipping under the paint.
No, the original color of the lamp was blue. But in general there were also green ones. I chose this color for variety. The previous lamp was blue, so I didn't want to repeat myself.
@@Bloodshed.restorations yes, this color has been widely used from dishes to motorcycles. It's funny, but I have this paint left over from the restoration of an old motorcycle))
after renovation things almost look like it is newly made in china...it is up to the owner if the patina and age should be or if it should look like it is new made today.,,my self like the patina that get it the age it has.
it's epoxy glue. When I cleaned the lamp, I noticed that the sand knocked off part of the factory glue. Therefore, he applied new glue to the same places where it was.
Don't get so angry. The logo is placed automatically at the end of each of my videos. I just missed the point. I will fix it now. The fact that you have watched the video up to this point makes me very happy. Thanks for viewing and commenting.

Très bon travail, merci pour cette vidéo 🎉

Nice refurbishing project. I really like those type lanterns and you saved this one and made it look new again. Thumbs Up!

Nice video format... What camera do you use to shoot video?
Are you a professional or an amateur - in the topic of video?
Thank you! I use a Nikon Z6. Yes, I am a professional photographer, so composition and working with light is not something new for me.
Another great resto👍🏻 was the colour a dark green? My colours aren't too great, either way, it's a classic colour.
No, the original color of the lamp was blue. But in general there were also green ones. I chose this color for variety. The previous lamp was blue, so I didn't want to repeat myself.
@@Dr.Pepperovsky it really suits, remember seeing a lot of enamel kettles etc in a similar colour, back in the day 😀

I love how the pepper logo COMPLETELY blocked the 🔥 of the lantern...😂🤔🤨😏

What is this liquid sealant that you added around the filler neck?
it's epoxy glue. When I cleaned the lamp, I noticed that the sand knocked off part of the factory glue. Therefore, he applied new glue to the same places where it was.
@@Dr.Pepperovsky Yes, it was noticeable when you sandblasted the lamp!
What kind of liquid is the brown one
This is pumpkin oil. I use vegetable oils to stop the reaction between the metal and acid residues.
