In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.

To be fair, there's a large number of watchers who don't know that simply because of Greg and Alex's roles on the show. lol
They're very good at keeping up the act even with their improv.

atlas I get what he’s saying. I’m on ADHD meds, too. They’ll help you focus, but they can cause anxiety, they alter your sleep cycle, and they mess with the creative abilities that come with being ADHD. All of the best songs I’ve ever written have come to me at night when the meds have worn off.

I remember reading an internet comment once from someone saying they couldn't watch Taskmaster because they didn't like Alex Horne. But considering the amount of abuse and torture Alex goes through on this show (i.e. coffee waterboarding) you think this would be the perfect show for people that don't like Alex.
Also funny how he created the show but goes through so much considering he is the main producer
@@immortxelle I think that's a big part of what makes the show and his role in it so lovely. He created a show where he pits people up against each other in bizarre challenges, but he wants to have fun with them and get involved with it and is really comfortable making himself the butt of the joke.

I'm a huge fan of British comedy in general, but Alex never hit a chord with me before this show. I just found his previous work rather weak.
Man alex has nerves of steel. Rhod practically waterboarded him and only got +11.
Alex is probably desensitized to it all now, which is a bit disturbing. Getting stripped down? Being waterboarded? Been there done that I guess!

HurrayTsk there’s a moment I think in the last episode of series 5 where Sally basically asks Alex to do the whole task for her, or else she do something wildly humiliating to him. That sticks out in my mind just for being the last time Alex did a task for someone since Al Murray paid him off. Given that Sally did pretty much torture him throughout, he was definitely scared she’d follow through haha!
Some of the stuff Rhod did in that task wasn't even shown due to Health and Safety reasons - there's an interview where Rhod says that he basically gagged Alex with an egg in his mouth.

I do too. I also find it funny, but genuinely a little concerning, how he uses every possible chance to physically attack Alex.

I wonder if Greg's years teaching Deaf and hard of hearing students made him better at lip reading. Because that was truly impressive.
That would explain a lot. Out of all five contestants' facts the only words I managed to lip read correctly were "Phill", "Wang" and "Greg" - the latter with a thick Welsh accent. Quite an impressive performance from His Lordship Davies there.
globaljabouble that would explain why it was that task. Alex knew Greg could do it normally but the contestants exaggerated causing missed words.
I didnt know that i thought he was a drama teacher or something. It was insanely impressive, all I understood was Kerry's. Him getting James and Jess blew my mind.
Agreed, I was actually pretty confused how the hell he could have understood as much as he did. Every contestant would have gotten 1 star if I were the judge.

One of my favourite things in this season (or in any season for all that matters) is Rhod just sitting down with his head on a table in the beginning of every task and just thinking in complete silence for 5 minutes
All the other contestants dive straight in the task whereas he just vibes for a second and then does some mad fucking shit

This show is made funnier when you realize Alex Horne is the one writing it all. Dude is topping from the bottom with startling efficiency.

I got into task master from the NZ version and I thought it was supposed to be ironic like the asssistant is actually the taskmaster bc he administers the tasks and the official taskmaster is just for show. "Best Noise" task is my favourite of the series, it really showcases how clinically insane each and everyone of them is.

James just grabbing ahold of Phil’s hand at the end was so sweet. I loved it when they walked on stage still holding hands. You don’t see men holding hands often and it made me happy to see that.
I also love how Greg will sometimes affectionately touch Alex’s arm when they’re discussing the tasks or results. It shows just how comfortable everyone is with each other.

@@carjaroo One of the contestants from Series 6. Every time she walked into a task, she'd call Alex some pet name. It never really got properly addressed, so it's understandable if you missed it, but if you haven't seen the other seasons I'd definitely recommend watching them :P

For some reason I adore her more than any other contestant so far, she is like a golden retriever
James' reaction @6:14 when Carry pulls them all in and Jessica claps on top of his head DEFINES EVERYTHING that makes this series the best one yet.
So Rhod joined the show to just take the piss out of Greg on every episode. I can't wait for the rest of the series.
They are all different shades of insanity but still have ingenuity
I love that usually each series you have one or two that do the literal thing without thinking while the rest go more lateral and think carefully and this season everyone is like that but Rhod

I think the accent thing does play a part tho bc I'm Canadian and I rely on lip reading bc of my audio processing disorder*, and I could barely get anything out of their mouthing. And tbf Greg had the hardest time with the two who had the most different accents to him (Rhod and Phil)
*basically my ears are fine but my brain sucks at processing audio information, so I often have a hard time understanding people, especially if there's background noise, more than one person speaking, etc. Like much worse than most people - if there's ANY background noise I HAVE to lip read or else I'll only make out like.... Maybe half of what they're saying. I hear them, it's just jumbled nonsense is all, or general sounds that I can sometimes guess at but yea.
Tho I'm now kinda curious... Like I've been told by others who lip read that I'm easy to read, but I have a VERY Canadian accent (rural Ontarian (like on Letterkenny, look it up on TH-cam if you're unfamiliar) with hints of Quebecor, Newfie, and Nova Scotian bc of who I grew up around).... So I wonder if he'd be able to read my lips 😂

I'm Dutch and I hate ASMR, last time I tried one video out, I nearly cried, it was awful. Rain on an umbrella, was supposed to sound nice. Awful.
@@Widdekuu91 I have the exact same response to both ASMR and Phil's tongue thing - it's like nails on a chalkboard for me. I'm afraid I'm not Dutch, I'm from the US. I know many people in the US love ASMR, so I suspect it's a personalized thing - for some reason, when three people hear weird mouth noises, one will feel nice shivers, one will feel nothing, and one will run screaming from the room.

Either way, I'm so glad I found other people that don't like ASMR. It's horrific sometimes, when it appears out of nowhere in video's. Like loudly whispering in your ear or something.
I like the noises when I'm standing next to them myself (like the soft tingling of a metal element in the curtains, while the wind blows through them) but nót on a recording and nót so loud that it's "happening in your ear."
This episode really shows the genius of Rhod Gilbert. That freaking golf task, thinking way out of the box as the sly old fox that he is.
Rhod Gilbert has no half measures. Hes either a problem solving genius with radically lateral thinking... or a bullheaded hard charger steamrolling over a literal interpretation of the challenge.
And it is glorious.

the best part of rhod's torture is that you can see broken eggs on the ground and some yolk on alex's chest, which means that rhod tried tossing eggs at him and for whatever reason they decided to leave it out of the cut

Its James. Phil still cant leave. Every time he asks, James calls Greg and tells him the situation, then hands the phone to Phil. Phill becomes slightly more depressed and says "you are the Task master" "I did" "ok" "ok" "im sorry sir", and then hangs up and hands the phone back before going to do the dishes

What I really (really) admire in this show, that the creators (Alex, Tim, etc) take a contestant's effort and turn it into a task in a latter series.
For example Kerry makes Alex try to score a goal with a football at 15:30 , and that comes back later in s12 e05 as "Prevent Alex from scoring a goal"
Another example is the infamous "Sit On The Cake" task. (s06 e10 ---> s12 e05)
Also wondering if the best noise task came from season 5 (don’t know which episode) where Bob Mortimer accidentally created a good noise a wished that was the task
Mike Wozniak 's tush would be in a better condition if Kerry hadn't thought that a fart would be the best sound.
Phil Wang's best noise is the dictionary definition of "Moist".

Series 4. Dennis, Lycett, Gedroich, and Fielding, ft Adafope. Can’t beat that group, they’re incredible

@@jane9250-h5v Agree to disagree. I preferred the Series 5 camaraderie and chemistry over the others, even though I enjoyed all of them. All entertaining in their own way, so I guess it's just subjective :)
@@christophermccarthy2801 Dennis had a methodical madness about him, lycett is a lovable troll, giedroyc is the funky mom, fielding is always unhinged (and surprisingly laddy, lol), but adefope puts it all together by being endearingly normal

Everyone always talks about James or Rhod but I think Phils probably the funniest and Jessica and Kerry are both really fun. Jessica's noises kill me. Really good chaotic cast, this and season 4 have been my favorite.

A bit too aggressive in the putting though. It's not like boxing, where you try to punch *through* the other guy. You're supposed to end up closer.
