I’ve built loads of pole barns, I never put the poles in the ground, always use 5’ long lengths of galvanized pylon steel, sink it 3’ in the ground in concrete, with 2’ sticking out to bolt the pole to. Easiest way of getting it level, square and you can shim and adjust the poles…
Not sure if this an episode of last of the summer wine “ which way you going, yea clockwise that’s it clockwise” as they turn the pole anti-clockwise 😂😂😂 I
Brilliant video watching the construction of your traditional pole barn using traditional techniques. One to be proud of, and within tolerance too. ! The cattle look well. That Bull calf wearing the poo saddle is a lovely specimen. Daddy bull is a big lad. Keep the vids coming they’re great. Well done to all involved in project pole barn. 👍
Good video 👍 something very satisfying about building a shed on a farm using a lot of reclaimed materials done a few in my time using second hand corrugated metal sheeting 👍 good job by all involved 👌
Hello really enjoyed that video...great to see teamwork like that, making a useful barn like you have ... amazing what a few guys can assemble with a bit of old school can do attitude and knowledge....well done 👍
Last time i constructed wan of those sheds with telegraph poles i dug the holes with a spade! Class job!next project make a tripod with the leftovers for the camera😅
You lads don't mess about...went out half way through to the shop to get my cans of ale...by the time I got back you had finished it...will have to rewind🤣😂 Seriously for what it is you lads couldn't have done it any better
Very good video. Just wondering how much did it cost and what size of shed. Asking as we are wanting to built a shed but didn't know what the price range is to built one yourself. Cheers
I wouldn’t have drilled through the truss to put in threaded bar to hold the bracket, you should’ve welded two angle irons together to make a bracket so that both the truss and purlin could be bolted on their sides and no need for screws and nails with two bolts holding them together. Also I’m not sure why you didn’t extend the shed beside it with a pole barn instead of building at right angle to it.
Has for comment about concreting being waste off money which is total nonsense the site is very exposed to bad weather and needs to be stable, think about it!
Also if you have to many overlaps ,then when you have to walk on them there's a chance they will crack because of the gaps between them .hope this explains 🤔

Loved the video mate but the guy standing on the cement sheets proper dangerous only needed a scaffold board underneath him seen plenty people fall thru them things they go with no warning or even use a double pallet😁
" no need to put concrete around pole " 🤦 perhaps you meant to say... " we've done pole barns many times... not used concrete ourselves.... but belt and braces is no bad approach". 👍
Grand to meet you at Bakewell Market yesterday. This is great

Thanks nick ...Good idea
Nice tidy job some spouting needed eventually will undermine back of shed.
Beautiful cattle.
With me,i always said after i finished a shed, with 2 poles and ive have another 16x16 shed
Perfect planning prevents piss poor performance lol good effort though
What size timber are the purlins and side frames? 6x3”?

Thanks crofter , I'll try and do a short break down of cost video soon .
How deep did ya do the holes
Hi Matthew, on advrige the holes were 3 to 4 foot deep

What sort of cladding are you using ? cutting with handsaw !?
Hi jont, it was cement fiber board

Do you do commisions😂
What’s the reason for cutting the corner off on the roofing sheets ??
So they fit together and you don’t have too many overlaps….
Also if you have to many overlaps ,then when you have to walk on them there's a chance they will crack because of the gaps between them .hope this explains 🤔

Loads of health and safety issues! Looks more like a “young stock” shed.
well you said no spirit levels -try again ;;
No need at all to put concrete around poles, waste a money, have an acres of sheds with poles
All depends ur exposure to the wind

Great video lads team work makes dream work 💪🦺🔨🔧
