Watched it from beginning to end. I was born and brought up in Rowlands Castle, lots of memories of walks and mucking about in Stansted Forest. My brother worked in the forest and at the sawmill for a while too, back in the 70s.
Those "peanuts" look like field beans / broad beans that have ben left to blacken? Sometimes if a Farmer has to leave a field fallow one year, they will grow beans to increase nitrogen in the soil & then just plough it all back in. They might be used for animal feed as well.
