I just heard a great reply from Johnny in an interview on YT: The guy asked him if he gets with other guys to jam and have jam sessions or if he plays guitar a lot around the house. Johnny said, no, he don't do any of that. All he plays are Ramones songs - they're the only songs he knows. He plays when they're on stage and in the studio. That's it. To me, that's the pinnacle of the true punk guitarist. He's not in it to make a name for himself as a guitar player - he's in it to play Ramones songs. Turns out, he did make a name for himself with a style almost no one can perfectly duplicate.
