    Heck yeh man! Love it on the grand scale. But you can put 50-60 in each of those :)

      Hey Justin! Sitting here ordering my materials to build the Chickshaw 2.0. Have you seen wood prices lately? 😲 Can't wait to meet up with you and Rebecca in Front Royal this fall!

      Thanks for the inspiration for our Chickshaw :) Holding up well after 4 years of wet & windy conditions here in Scotland.

      I agree, why push 25x5 chickens around on enclosed land they are already shitting on?

      @@davebannasch I ordered every piece and part off the chic Shaw pdf but once I got to building it I realized I could just over lap the 2X4s opposed to using so many angle brackets. I ended up returning over $120 worth of parts and mine is bomb proof.
      Same concept just modified a wee bit. 🤙

      Do the birds stay in the chick Shaw over night?

    Nice work. I really like your modified kick stand.
    A gust of wind flipped my Shaw last week. I’m glad no birds were inside

      You’ll See what I mean when you get to building it. I would just recommend either buying a cheap pocket jig from tractor supply, or like I did- just overlap the 2x4s. 🤙

    How protect against winter drafts?
    Raccoons can push pull nesting boxes to get in?
    Roosts not necessary?
    25 birds in 6x6 ? That's 1.4 sq feed per bird. Crowded?
    Neat wheel design. How is it attached?

    Put automatic, solar powered doors on those coops. You'll save yourself a ton of time and effort not needing to remember to go out there after dark or early in the morning.

    Hi there, John McElroy from Enniskillen, Ireland here. I love the idea of having multiple units to get the numbers up but that you don't have to go inside a stinky unit and that there will be little or no compaction moving the chickshaws manually. I am thinking of doing something similar. I have on query if I may. Do you ever have problems with too many birds going into one of the chickshaw with the others being left half empty?

  • @christopherrandall3124

    How do they know which coop is their's? Or do they just compete for sleeping space since there is so many of them?

    It’s a great chicken coop until it’s raining and muddy or on a tiny slope. Looks like you have flat land so it shouldn’t be a problem for you.

    Do you have to worry about predators from above? We got 4 chickens and I"m in process of building a coop. Do you use these during winter?

    Sorry, but I dont understand the point of the "chicksaw"? Are they roosting those at night? does it lower to the ground? I just dont get the point.

      no sense with his method

    • @dre.ale.1191
      @dre.ale.1191 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      How is it “no sense?” This Shaw is for rotational grazing. When you pasture raise your chicken, you move them daily/weekly so that they don’t deplete the grass, and they get fresh forage daily. You need mobile fencing and coops for this method to work. It’s not “nonsense,” it actually works. If you are keeping your chickens in a stagnant coop, this Shaw would not work for you.

    • @sinsinnomore5555
      @sinsinnomore5555 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Have you seen what 100 chickens can do to the ground? They turn it into poultry poop mache, dig holes to dust, and eat every seed, grain, and pod till it's barren. Chicken poo isn't fertilizer when it turns to pavement. Stagnant coops are horrible fro everyone and this method is worth the effort

    Do you leave the doors open 24/7 or close at night and open in am? I work nights so I’m trying to figure out a solution to putting them up and or letting them out

    Joel Salatin was the progenitor of that idea, where he got it from you will have to ask him, I know Rhodes would not argue with that.
    I looks to me that you are one of those guys that like to spend money by way of establishing status, very underwhelmed here I must say.
