Awwh, thanks for this one. We went for my husbands 70th Birthday in 2019. James Martin was there and came over and chatted , he is so lovely and not a bit'starry', just a down to earth lad. When the bill arrived, he'd paid for our , not cheap wine. My Husband died in 2021. A very important memory for me, so I thank you again.

I agree! I've watched every review Gary has done and not one of them has him being anything other than himself. Other reviewers have morphed into their version of a Michelin guide adjudicator, trying to be too complicated and use stupid terminology. Gary says it how it is, and if it isn't up to par, that's what he says!
I know, even my kids know Gary and one only just turned three! He's so unintentionally funny but most importantly he's authentic and fair.

I'm a fan of the compact menu concept. Especially when the offerings are changed on a weekly/monthly basis. It cuts down on inventory and food wastage and allows the kitchen staff the freedom to be creative and inventive.
Couldn't agree more, gives me confidence the kitchen can cope with room for capacity.

James done a good job
James Martin's is definitely an occasion restaurant. I think it would make for a very pleasant night on the town, a bit of gambling and a fine meal. I thought the food looked delicious, I personally would order a steak. It is also nice that they offered you a complementary drink for the mistake with the dessert. I am pleased to see that not all celebrity Chef restaurants disappoint. Gary really enjoyed the review.............Cheers.

There is also a really cool axe throwing place and a good comedy club nearby here. Had considered going here for food on a date night before and after this review by Gary I am sure I will add it to the list of places to visit.

I’m so relieved that you enjoyed this Gary. After some of the celebrity places you’ve been to, I was worried you’d be disappointed. James Martin is my favourite chef and I’d have hated for his place to be rubbish. I appreciate it’s very expensive, but I’d pay it for a lovely treat. It would be something to always remember. xxx

James Martin is in my top 5 favourite chefs when he does his Saturday kitchen live he seems like a real genuine man and doesn't make too much of a fuss. Great review Gary.

Always seem to be holding your breath when going to these celebrity chef restaurants, but James certainly delivered.
I think it was a fair criticism about the lamb portion size.

The restaurant seemed, from the video, seemed to have a lovely ambience. The presentation of the food was top tier. I agree that the portion of lamb seemed a bit meagre.
The overall price is a bit steep but you're paying for quality over quantity.

I know some people don't like these celebrity chef restaurant reviews but I think they're really important, they tell us which are worth visiting and which are tourist traps better off avoiding (Gordon Ramsay comes to mind..)

My late wife and I used to watch James on "morning TV" and always felt that he came across as a nice person! (Your meal came as a bit pricey, though!). (Another great video, Gary, thanks for that!).

Gary, it’s great to see you’ve enjoyed the first 2 restaurants you’ve visited in Manchester. Like you mentioned in your video, whilst I have no problem with gambling / casinos, I would be hesitant to walk through the casino to eat at James Martin’s restaurant. Another great video which we’ve all come to enjoy and expect.

As soon as you said you were having lamb cannon I knew you wouldn’t be getting a lot of meat. It’s probably the most expensive cut of lamb.
It all looked fantastic - James martin for all his flashiness with the cars and so on is one of the most genuine and experienced chefs of his generation.

As nice as the sticky toffee pudding looked, I would have been tempted to try the whisky bread and butter pudding. The food did look very delicious and I liked the way it was presented, the pudding in the delightful pot was a brilliant idea. Alas, my presentation skills are non existent - I just pile it on the plate and tuck in; I'm such a peasant at heart! A very classy location and I agree Maris, I think with more lamb on the plate then we were getting very close to a perfect 10 but I felt the portion let it down, thank you always x
I think as long as people keep paying these insane prices, the more these so called celeb chefs will keep raising the prices, I make damn good bhajis, I'm gonna sell them on street corners £3.00 each and make around 600% profit!

My friend was on a cruise with a James Martin resturant... he was also on board the ship. He had reserved a table and happened to bump into him in a lift. He mentioned he was looking forward to his meal in his resturant, and got blanked by Martin. My friends a really nice/honest guy, and would not say this if not true. Just saying some people arn't always the person they present on screen. That aside, the food looked good. Love your channel!

Why do you say that?
Not sure everyone realises that James is a classically trained chef, spending several years in old school French, classical restaurants. That's really hard work, and the skills and experience gained is second to none. One reason James has always been very respectful of revered chefs; Michel Roux, Raymond Bland, Pierre Koffman etc.

Hi Gary! One of my favourite vlogs from Greeno was his review of James Martin's "The Kitchen", so very keen to see what you thought of James' casino restaurant.
I don't mind a compact menu, it stops me from faffing about too much!
The interior of the restaurant looked beautiful. I absolutely loved the bowls too. You seemed genuinely taken aback by how good the onion bhaji was! Could tell by your reaction & description that it was truly a stand-out starter. The lamb seemed a little light on the portion, but still a lovely dish. I love a sticky toffee pudding as well. That looked delicious.
OK Gary, this is another one for my list! Honestly at this point, I may as well just move to the UK! 🤔😅
