- In this video I will tell you how I got scammed out of $1,000's because of youtube music. I used to use youtubes copyright free music until I wanted new music. Free music for videos is hard to find so I paid artlist.io to use their songs. Well someone copyrighted my videos and claim the videos as theres and that made me lose thousands of dollars until I showed proof I have full rights and show no copyright music was used. Hope this helps anybody who might be going through the copyright system on youtube because in my opinion. It's broken!

Thats literally the only part of the system that is messed up. Why would you not claim peoples videos? You get free money with 0 proof, then are aloud to keep that money after loosing and being proven that you were lying/wrong. WITH ZERO CONSEQUENCES. So why wouldn't you? Makes no sense not too. its free money.

Square Breaker - That’s not how the Karma works brother. Sometimes we unknowingly do certain things and something bad happens to us or sometimes something bad happen to us of which consequences something good will happen.
It’s very complex than we understand.
Like No pain no gain
So when you lose something it prepares you for a new challenge which you won’t take if something bad hadn’t happen to you.
TH-cam should actually look into the legitimacy of the claim before the strike is applied. They need to change it!

I saw a video about TH-cams copyright and from what it said (and this amazed me) is that when you dispute it, the person who made the claim against you is the person who decides if your claim is valid....isn't that a wtf moment. You can see in his claim disapproval notice that it says The "claimant" has reviewed "their claim".
But Reyes He's going to do it again to someone else if you don't sue him.
Karma will get that dude. Glad you were able to successfully appeal them though man!

I've always had a problem with Copyright strikes.... That's why I stopped doing TH-cam videos last year.. I've learned that Fear has two meanings Reyes.

It's getting tough out there especially for all the Music channels. Adam Neely a music educator got flagged for using a crappy Midi recording of Beyonce's single ladies - it wasn't even the original recording he was just talking about it. Being a Music Educator myself I have to work around it by singing my own parts or just using other methods. I've had copyright things on my own songs before. Not that I know why people would even better with such a small youtuber.

Thanks man. I always use non copyright music from SoundCloud, and generally put the info of the creators in my description, not just because it's the right thing to do but because they deserve the recognition as well cuz the music is pretty damn good.

When the guy made the claim, the money starts to go towards him. But when you make a dispute on the claim, TH-cam holds the money until the dispute is over and then gives the money to whomever won. Well since he lost the first round of disputes, TH-cam doesn’t hold any money at that point it goes straight into his pocket. Which is sad. Im glad you were able to put an end to all that and start getting the money you deserve! Keep on grinding man!

This guy is such an inspiration he can always somehow see the positives in every situation! Reyes I love your attitude man, in my opinion it is the best part of every video you make. Keep up the good work. And despite how much we all want to know who would do something like this to you- not revealing his name was a real show of character.
Take the videos down, change the music, re-upload. I bet there is a guy going around teaching a course on how to make money making copyright claims on TH-cam. TH-cam won't do anything about it. eBay is the same way. There was a guy going around telling college students how to get books for free by filing a "not as described" claim against the seller. eBay always sides with the buyer so most sellers will just give a full refund immediately rather than fight a losing case. Sellers complained about it, eBay does nothing. It's not their money so they don't care.

Or he can also try the TH-cam editor. You can make changes on there without taking down the video. Huge tool if you want to make any changes or trim things up to a video that was already uploaded. 🥁✌🏼

This happened to me recently as well on 3 of my videos. I saw the name of the song that was claimed, and I couldn't even look up and find the song to find out if it matched the song I used. I got the song from a freesound.org and the song I used was licensed under the creative commons license and the song creator on the site said he created the song, so I figured someone had to be wrong. I filed a dispute for all the copyright claims. My channel is new and small at the moment, so it wasn't a financial issue. But I still didn't want some random person claiming my content that I worked hard to create. I had 2 of the copyright claims removed so far, waiting for the 3 claim to be removed. Super annoying!

Mind you, if my understanding of the youtube system is correct, and I'm pretty sure it is. When you file a dispute, your dispute is sent TO THE PERSON WHO CLAIMED YOUR SHIT TO BEGIN WITH, and THEY choose whether or not to drop the claim. When you dispute, it's not sent to a youtube rep who manually checks this shit lol.

Hey man, I know you've already learned your lesson the hard way but I use soundstripe for music and the moment you download the song, you also get a legal ownership document with it so you don't have to email or wait on a process to play out. You have proof of ownership immediately. Hopefully this helps you or anyone in the comments.

It sounds like a good scam. I can go put claims on hundreds of videos and collect the money till they dispute it with proof but by then I can get away with free money
Not how it works. People are so ignorant. TH-cam takes it and holds it for 90days in which time you can file a counter and get it back.

ps. I kinda wish you could sue TH-cam or something for the cash they gave to someone else or that there is some form of compensation considering it was YOU who lost out. Someone didn't do the copyright check properly and the money should essentially be put on hold until the dispute has been proven. That's a bit of a joke BUT at least we got a good lesson out of it!!
