A transholder, methinks.
By the way, if you want to pose the plastic pieces, boil them. I've been repairing and restoring (and smoking) vintage smoking pipes for decades, and to form new stems into the right shape to match an old pipe, I just boil them for long enough to soften them, then bend them around a form to get the right shape.

Late to the game on this viewing, but it's a great looking custom piece.
I thought you'd be using one of those plastic "prize" balls that usually have assorted stickers, erasers, etc., inside them, and then building on that spherical shape.
That could work as well but it would force me into a more traditional beholder shape. It would also be huge for the scale!

Im trying to find a way to gloss the eyeball on my latest creature any advice
Cheapest option would probably be a gloss PVA glue, mod podge, etc. Best results are a drop of UV resin.
