    Thank you for the video; very helpful. In the Google 1 backup and sync, how to I delete photos and files on my mobile while keeping the data intact on Google 1? I want to free up memory on my mobile, but not necessarily clean up Google 1. Thanks.

    Hey Nathan great presentation. May I ask what you used to present. Love your visuals and sound.

    • @tompengilley2688
      @tompengilley2688 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Mercedes, some of our videos are shot in professional studios with great cameras and lighting etc. But I think this was shot at home with a green screen and a Pixel phone (because we, and most people, were trying to work from home as much as possible then). We're not professional lighting technicians and our homes aren't designed for videos so Pixel does a great job of auto-adjusting white balance etc to make us look as good as possible. We do use lapel mics and have quite professional animators/editors though.

    If I'm simply a member of a Google Family that has 100 GB shared storage, how do I start using the shared storage space as well? Since my own 15 GB is full already.

    • @tompengilley2688
      @tompengilley2688 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Martijn, if you're in a family group with someone who has extra Google One storage then you should be able to see it and save to it etc automatically. But the Google One subscriber will have to go into their settings then 'Manage family settings' and click to 'Share Google One with your family'.

    Hi is there a plan that covers Google One and TH-cam Premium Family I see there is a plan for the Pixel Phone but that is not available in South Africa where I am?

    • @tompengilley2688
      @tompengilley2688 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Craig, you are correct. Google Fi is available in the US, Canada, and Mexico and is a sim-only phone tariff with some optional extra features (like expanded online storage) depending on the plan. At the moment there is no plan that covers multiple Google services outside of these areas, sorry!

      If you tap your photo/icon in the top right hand side of your Google Photos app and then 'Photos settings', then 'Back up and sync' and lastly ' Back up device folders' you'll be able to select which folders are being backed up.

    • @tompengilley2688
      @tompengilley2688 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are links to the different areas of Google One from the 'Storage' section of the app, but they'll link out to your Google Drive/Photos/Gmail etc apps. You can filter and manage everything from those apps but it can be handy to see an overview of what's were beforehand 🗄🙂

    Great video! Okay, I have a Samsung Galaxy S9+ I've had the 2 TB plan for a bit now. Unsure if I can delete all the photos & videos off my phone? Will it delete them on Google 1 as well? My brother & parents have passed away. These photos are very important to me. So I keep dealing with all the "storage is full" prompts on my phone. Help!? Lol 😂

      There is a button that removes all backed up photos and videos of the device if backed up in the Google photos app

    • @tompengilley2688
      @tompengilley2688 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you tap on your photo/icon at the top right hand side of the Google Photos app you should see 'Free up space'. This will delete backed-up photos and videos from your phone, because they are safe in Google Photos.

    If I became a member of Google One does that space cover up the things am downloading on TH-cam? Or the Apps I will be downloading??

    • @tompengilley2688
      @tompengilley2688 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Tinashe. No, this storage is in the cloud and is going to be for files like docs, music, photo's and videos etc, so that they are safe, not taking room on your mobile devices and are easy to access from any device. Apps will really need to be on device to work properly (unless they are intentionally a web app) and TH-cam is already in the cloud.

    My backup now button is greyed out. Will turn blue if I remove lock features from phone. Don't want to do this all the time. Can you help?

    • @tompengilley2688
      @tompengilley2688 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi M Gomez, sorry but I don't think I can. Which lock features do you have enabled? I'm assuming that whatever you have locked can't be backed up and is causing the button to be greyed out. It is possible to go into backup settings and choose Device data, multimedia messages, or photos and videos. So depending on what you have locked you could back up everything else? Let us know how you get on.

      Once you've used up your storage, then you won't be able to upload anything else. You can still access what you have stored, and download your stuff, but you won't receive any new emails, or be able to back up any more photos or your phone etc.
      You can manage your storage on your Google One home page though, so you can free up space if you need it.

    If I buy a Google one subscription, use all extra storage and then don't continue with my paid plan, what will happen to my pics that I uploaded?
    Will pics more than 15 gb will be deleted?
    If no then for how long it will be stored there without payment?

    • @Stacy-Google-Lead-Trainer
      @Stacy-Google-Lead-Trainer 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question! If you cancel your subscription then you can’t sync or upload new files. You can’t create new files in Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drawings, Forms, and Jamboard. Until you reduce the amount of storage you use, neither you nor anyone else can edit or copy your files. Syncs stop between your computer's Google Drive folder and My Drive. Hope that helps!

    what if i used 100 gig of my monthly plan?

    • @Nathan.Google
      @Nathan.Google 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey Md Iqubal,
      If you have used up all of your account storage, you won't be able to upload or receive any more files - including Photos and Video, and this also extends to Gmail as well, so you may miss some important emails until you free up enough space (every Google account comes with 15GB free space) or purchase a larger plan. This is a storage quota not a transfer quota, so you can add, remove and transfer the files you need.
      Hope this helps - give me a shout if you have any more questions.

    • @tompengilley2688
      @tompengilley2688 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, it isn't possible to store and run games from Google One. It's storage space rather than an online gaming platform. If you had the original APK file and wanted to store it on Google One that would be possible, but then you would need to download the game and install it on a device to be able to run it on that device. Sorry 🎮🙊

    • @tompengilley2688
      @tompengilley2688 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jan, this could be as simple as long pressing on the Google Photos app on your phone and tapping 'clear space' then 'Free up' however much space it suggests (as this is safely backed up to the cloud). Then you can also use the Files app to set photos and videos to auto-delete once backed up - support.google.com/files/answer/10862356?hl=en

Google Docs, Sheets and Slides are always backed up, and on your device by choice. Other file types should be backed up manually to Drive and a case by case basis.

    • @Nathan.Google
      @Nathan.Google 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey BarryD Rock n Rail,
      Your photos and videos are stored using your Google Account's storage space, but content uploaded to Google Photos won't be shown in drive, and vice versa. This is to help prevent accidental deletion of items across products, and means your photos and videos will exist only in one place.
      This gives us two options.
      1. Head to photos.google.com, or use the Google Photos app, to upload, edit and manage your photos and videos.
      2. Head to drive.google.com, or use the Google Drive app, to store your photos and videos.
      The first is my preference as Google Photos easily allows you to create and share albums, photobooks, movies, animations, collages etc. The second is a great way to store media as a backup in a folder or individually for later use.
      Hope this helps!
