    @erinw1566 2 ปีที่แล้ว +30

    ok, I kind of love "the sober one is currently on tour," kind of because it's totally inscrutable--to us. Obviously this is just conjecture but it really sounds like an inside joke this person had with close friends or family, and now etched into their memory is a little piece that only the ones closest to them get to have access to. It's okay if we don't get it, it's not *for* us. A graveyard is so public and we all get access to this part of a person's legacy, and I think it's really charming for someone to say "no, you don't get to understand everything about who I was, you never *knew* me. That part of me is only for the people I love." I really like that perspective, and I hope the people who get the joke got a good laugh out of it.

    Based on this video, I have to share a book recommendation. Waiting for Gertrude by Bill Richardson is a book based on the cemetery Pere Lechaise in Paris, where many famous artists and creatives are buried. The premise is all of the artists (Chopin, Jimmy Morrison, Oscar Wilde, Alice Toklas, Maria Callas, and more) are reincarnated as the feral cats who live there. Delightful, fun, and very macabre.

    My dad passed away, but before he did he instructed us that his tomb should have “death shall have no dominion” by Dylan Thomas. And so it does. I cry everytime I see this poem

    It’s my favorite when you continue to see each other now- instead of Tuesday or whenever. I have siblings I love to see and so it always makes me happy for you when you get together.

    Greens, both Hank and John: Just wanted to say how much I appreciate you guys. Also, when I saw the video title I didn't expect to laugh this much. Who knew a jaunt to the cemetery could be so entertaining. And, I so love what a safe brain space the comments section of Nerdfighteria is. ❤️

    Highgate cemetery was one of the first secular cemeteries in London. That meant people could use whatever design they wanted for their mausoleums and gravestones without church approval, and they really went for it. My favorites are the life-size statue of a beloved dog and the Circle of Lebanon.

    My mom is buried in this cemetery in the section across from the art museum, it’s a lovey spot. I’ve spent a lot of time walking through the cemetery and I always find something new.

    Can you imagine giving birth to not one but two exceptional human beings such as Hank and John? If I have children one day, I want them to be as awesome as these guys, or at least be as good brothers as they are.

    My grandmother is a historian and visiting graveyards was a very normal event in my childhood, usually hunting for some distant family member or finding the burial place of one of her soldiers (her area of expertise was a particular cavalry unit from the Civil War era). Watching this brought back fond memories! Thanks!

    I used to run tours in Edinburgh, Scotland, which took me into two different cemeteries on the regular, and they were fascinating, peaceful, and full of wonderful names and messages.
