I adore old tools, and I love buying them at car boots etc and restoring them… love this video especially as it has old tools plus multi tools, the perfect combination!!

Often the price at car boot sales and auctions are too good to say no to, especially compared to ebay etc, I picked up a combi oil stone for £1 a few weeks ago! and yeah the old stuff is so much better, best set of chisels I own is a vintage set of Marples etc.
I'm actually planning on doing a similar video but with old axes, bill hooks and drawknife. Also got a 1940s Brengun tool to share on the channel, if you like this video, you might like that stuff, cheers!

Great video mate. I'm a retired chippy and let me tell you , the old tools have got something about them that you just can't quantify. Man alive you've bought well.Keep it up. ATB Tony.

The difference is amazing, I have a new Ray iles draw knife (which are still made in England) and I thought it was the dogs bollocks until I bought an old one, massive difference! I'm now at the point where I'm trying to only by old tools, I try to only buy British, German, Swedish, American and Japanese and so far its served me well. Seen a really nice old bandsaw near me recently for the tempting price of £50, and it's made in Scotland, only problem is my Record power BS250 works fine 🤣

@@scotsman7626 My old Startrite bandsaw is about 40 years old and still going strong. By the way you mentioned a billhook. Old gardening tools are another passion of mine. Did you know that every area has it's own particular shape? ATB Tony.

@@tonysponies.2007 Yeah I have seen something about that, but I think it's an English thing? doesn't seem to be a Scottish pattern bill hook, my is a British made bulldog brand Bill Hook, I'm not into gardening, however I've got some experience in forestry and estate management.
I'm planning on making a video of said bill hook, along with some axes.

I've seen the leatherman mini tool sell for 110 pounds recently

Do you think the washer mod on the Leatherman’s is a good idea?
Like for legal reasons as it can still lock?
And what size of washers did you use?
Edit, do you need to loctite the screw back in place ?
And what about just removing the blade and getting a new tool to replace it?
Saying that I’ve got doubts about the Rebar EDC if it’s legal or the Gerber MP600 due to the locking saw, screwdrivers, scissors and awl as they could count as locking blades and sharp points.

I made the video because I can't see any reason how it can be deemed a locking knife, it literally can't lock. what's the argument? that you're going to carry a modded leatherman, with the correct screw drivers, fiddle around and making it lock again, then stab someone? I don't think so.
Not sure what size I used, I just had some lying around and I just went with it.
A thread locker would help, but I wouldn't worry too much about it.
You could remove the blades if you want, not sure what will fit, you could just use washers, or keys, personally I like having a knife on my multi tool.
As for the Rebar EDC, according to most UK knife dealers its legal, but tbh we are just trying to reason with unreasonable people, we try to be compliant but they keep moving the goal posts, who is going to carry a leatherman to stabe someone with the saw? I mean this is really silly now isn't it? it's a tool at the end of the day, and the authorities are more interested in punishing EDCers than the real criminals that will happily stick an 8 inch knife through you.
You do what's right for you.
