    Alright Damien. I was the second lad to stop off and say hello as I passed. Anthony. Nice to stop and have a bit chat and sorry for interrupting your bait. Drone footage looked great and I always enjoying hearing about some local history. You should do that area down Edlingham we spoke about.
    For the subs reading this he's as approachable and friendly as you'd imagine. Top bloke.

    I'm so pleased my comments have fired your curiosity!
    Harwood Forest, if anything, is further afield than the worst places I've encountered in my night photography. It's a strange place though and once you're deep inside, those open glades hidden away within the trees definitely have a vibe to them. I'm sure some parts of the forest have connections with soldiers from distant wars? Crimea perhaps or WW1?
    For comparison, I also venture deep into Kielder Forest too and more for the random things. The gibbet is well known and popular but hidden in Kielder are a lookout tower as well as the art pieces. For those art pieces, I ventured there one night alone and with a stack of camera gear and lights. My 'target' was the huge wooden head that can be climbed into - Silvas Capitalis. My thinking was various lighting including work lights, torches, gels (coloured plastics) etc. I don't use Photoshop much for effects and instead grab images how I want them - I enjoy that challenge of making them right in camera.
    On this night I managed to drive a fair bit into Kielder Forest (please don't - it's really frowned upon if caught!) and got within about a mile of the wooden head. It was around midnight when I exited the car. I grabbed bags and began the march to it. From the forest haul road I soon met narrow older trails and many were overgrown. A few branches/turns and soon I got to the cycle path that passes the head - I was there!
    I felt nothing untoward there. No feeling of being watched, no unusual noises except for a few owls and the odd snapping tree twig. I managed to grab hundreds separate long exposure photos of the head in varying colours, shades and methods of lighting. Each shot takes a few minutes to set up and around 30 seconds to take. It was during the setting up of one shot at about 2 am that I heard something. It sounded like a vehicle but on the cycle path. I could hear tyres on the fine gravel but no lights. The cycle path is quite close to the head. I wasn't worried about spirits - if anything I was expecting a shouty forest warden about to give me a ticking off for driving there! No-one came to me, I didn't hear the vehicle leave, I saw no lights, nothing. The only weird part was the tyres sounded quite close and yet the engine (like a 4x4) sounded further away. I guessed it was still a warden and did my thing anyway!
    Once done, I grabbed the kit, packed it and set back out on the route I'd come in on. I did indeed walk along where I heard the tryes on fine gravel and there wasn't a single track. The fine gravel had been rained on earlier that day and so showed not even a cycle wheel mark on it. Again, my mind didn't go into overdrive and instead I guessed the warden would be further along waiting to surprise me and if not there, would be waiting by my car. There was nothing. There was no-one. Again the forest just didn't faze me. Kielder just doesn't have the same vibes as Harwood and yet I'd clearly encountered some sort of spirit coming near or at least some stone memory effect.
    I'm sat here typing and looking at one of those colourful head images on my living room wall. I would do it again - Kielder is tame.
    The deepest darkest places I mention in other videos you've done are actually closer to the Tyne Valley by several miles. It's still open moor there but that place (where the non-believer felt being looked at) has the worst feeling I've ever encountered. If I told you that the non-believer experienced exactly what I felt then you'll realise something is up. Not only was the feeling of being watched there but also a terrible smell coming from a room in a building and also sounds. (I'm actually feeling sick just thinking back to the event) The room is in a hidden old building and sealed for the most. To enter you'd need to climb over rubble, sheets and wooden pieces - crawl more like. We both got close to this building and could hear snorts - like a cow or bull would make. Sometimes it would make a step - heavy on the stone floor. The damp heat coming from the doorway was very evident but yet no mist on the cold night air. The smell - like urine and other nasties mixed. Not dirty - just repulsive. Very repulsive. Definitely not farm animal smell. We were both at the only door into the building and yet nothing had gone in. I expected a cow had gone in but it just couldn't do it and hadn't done so. There were no hoof marks in the wet ground around either.
    The non-believer asked me in a whispering voice what it was. I replied I just don't know. I explained it's the only way in and look - no damage from climbing, no foot prints. We couldn't quite see into the room as like most old buildings on the moors it had a small porch for the cold just inside the doorway - that porch exited at 90 degrees to the doorway. The person I was with got nosey and began clambering over the blockage and made a lot of noise. In an instant there was a loud snort and the sound of hooves/feet/whatever tramping the hard floor as it turned to face us. The sound began coming at us. We ran. By fck did we run. I'm massive, muscled and can fight anyone but that? No way was I hanging around. The person I was with was screaming with fear. She sensed everything I did and ran just as fast.
    (I'm actually shaking here!)
    We ran past the field where the feeling of people looking was and jumped into the car and left fast. I'm not joking - I was looking into my rear view mirror into the darkness actually expecting something to be chasing us along the moor.
    I dropped that non-believer home and she was silent. She hadn't spoken much on the way home, only saying "What was that? What was that?" to herself.
    It's a place I will not return to, not even in daylight.
    * I've encountered other scary stuff in that area leading up to the major event too. Seemingly innocent stuff. I've written so much already!
    This video is interesting. Next time you're feeling brave and it's daylight, walk into that opening in the trees. The path leads down the slope at an angle and on your way you'll see some trees felled. They were felled with axes - you'll see them. The trees were cut down a few years back but still noticeable. There's a story, a worrying story behind those. It wasn't me who witnessed it but a good friend. I'll tell you in another video as I've waffled on a bit already.

    Complete agreement with you on the flag display. It’s an honorable gesture done in the wrong location. As for the ‘waffling’, most of us look forward to that portion of your videos. There is something I miss seeing more often here. Some years ago you did a satire using a German WWII military film, but you overlayed your own dialog. I thought it was brilliant! And lastly, I’m a big car/van camper now, too. It is a wonderful way of camping with a higher level of comfort & safety. Thanks!!

    • @Fell_Wanderer
      @Fell_Wanderer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I cut so much out of the waffling and video re-takes its quite disturbing. In the beginning, I used to have 30 to 45 mins videos but soon learned that isnt best practice. Now I can tell the same story in half the time. It feels wrong in the beginning, editing out what one might feel is decent content, only to look back 10 years later and realize, 1 minute watching a pot boil or 30 seconds of sawing wood can be shown in a fraction of the time when story telling.

    It's very interesting and refreshing to see somone these days that believes in the paranormal and spirits. I say this because, I've heard elders talk about spirits and that they live in woodlands and trees themselves, also they are most active at night.

    • @jackking5567
      @jackking5567 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think a lot of people don't realise what they're witnessing and thus don't realise it might be a spirit. Sure in those old days such things were told as warnings to children not to wander and such but spirits exist through all cultures around the world - there's far more to it and I just wish those who don't believe would at least try for themselves.

    • @Fell_Wanderer
      @Fell_Wanderer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not a natural presenter due to the amount of re-takes. Fancy editing hides all that. Basically, I'm not an actor, where I can learn lines and be fluent in presenting a show throughout. I get there winging it with a general idea of filming to edit in post with countless re-takes, previously mentioned. My style is developing with time though. Its hard for anyone to turn a camera on and waffle, getting it right first time, so dude we are not alone.

For all I know, the land owner may have placed it there so it would have been wrong to remove it permanently. There was a local farm nearby which was also flying the flag. All I'm gonna say is this, if I was flying the Union Jack outside my house, I wonder how long it would take before I got a knock at the door to see whether I had planning permission?

    • @Fell_Wanderer
      @Fell_Wanderer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The clue is in the name of the place. Maps only go so back so far and dont show everthing, the earliest ones I have that are reasonably accurate, are hand drawn by Armstrong in 1769 but dont show minor details like gibbets. Good indicaters to historical events are place names like battle or chapel hill which have long since gone but the history and name remains.

    Here's one for you Damian. Sounds totally wacky but......... the recording of a voice calling Christopher. Years ago you did a video with Christopher in the forest. Listening for wood knocks etc. The sun? illuminates part of the tree and creates a face, just above where you two are standing. The Green man/Spirit of the Forest/Woodwose?, or just a weird,coincidental piece of paradolia??
    All the best.

    • @Fell_Wanderer
      @Fell_Wanderer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think its pareidolia most of the time, although I do believe in entities or spirits, whatever you want to call them, living in the woods. Some people believe the creatures are inter dimensional, appearing in trees and vegetation etc, when they enter our dimension, sometimes looking weird and a bit distorted but thats why I tend to think its mostly pareidolia. That video you mention is the one where I got home and listened to the audio recorder and could hear knocks in response to our knocks

      @@Fell_Wanderer There are lots of weird things out there. I've seen a couple of videos where it's possible to make out 'see through', humanoid figures, like in the old Predator film. They are not mentioned by the you tuber filming, so weirdly genuine??

    Here's a little story of when I seen a black panther Damien. about 6-7 year's ago when I used to do a bit pest control back in the day. I used to live at kelloe county Durham and one afternoon was cutting across one of the local farmers fields to get to a small section of woodland. (Bare in mind there's only one way in to the woodland) so I stopped just before I got to the woods, got on my knees and started to unzip the rifle bag. Within seconds I caught something black in the corner of my eye creeping up on me ( around 7-8 metres away ) so as I whipped my head round to see what it was within a split second it turned and took off into the woods. Didn't catch it face on but caught the side of it as it turned and it was big, jet black, shiny coat, long tail. Thought it was a big dog at the time so assumed there was a dog walker trespassing so carried on into the woods regardless, rifle loaded but safety on and did not see a soul in there. Thought nothing of it for months never even mentioned it to anyone then I seen a post on one of the fb hunting groups about a black panther sighting with pictures of it and it was exactly what I seen. Never went public about it only the Mrs and son know about it until now but yeah true story that..... Could've been cat food 😂

    • @Fell_Wanderer
      @Fell_Wanderer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the reply. There have been sightings of big cats in the UK for years and I think its exotic pets who escape and owners can't report it because they are being kept illegally. Saying that, I've found sheep wool with bits of skin and blood up trees in Harwood forest. Not on branches that would support a heavy cat, only about 5ft up, caught on thin pine branches, as if something had carried it through the forest and bits of the sheep got caught on the twigs. Got the pics to prove it.

      I enjoyed your hardwood forest video's it looks creepy but a very interesting place to visit. With the size of the forest it's an ideal habitat for one or many of life's mysteries to live without being seen, but clues are left for us to only speculate on what is living in there? Could it be a yeti? Could it be the ghosts of the past? Could it be both plus a lot more? Only time will tell and it's definitely going on my list of places to visit.... You know it makes sense 😂👍

      I heard a wood break but when listening to the audio, I didn't hear anything out of the ordinary. It was picking up shuffling and snoring from the car because the recorder is so sensitive. Had it pointing towards the gibbet and not at the forest so maybe thats why it didnt pick up the wood breaking sound. Next time I will have to place it in the tree line covered by a tarp.
