- The Glacier Chair and 7th heaven are finally open at Whistler Blackcomb and the skiing on new years eve was absolutely bonkers. I charged down spanky's, pipeline, horstman ridge, everglades and a few other classic Blackcomb lines that sometimes don't even ride that well in the heart of the season. The mountain was shockingly quiet and a lot of locals slept on one of the best days so far this season. I couldn't think of a better way to end 2023 and kickstart 2024 at Whistler Blackcomb. Let's forget about the slow start and get the stoke rolling for all the deep steep skiing ahead.

I finally let it go a little bit! But I think I might fare better in the FWT announcers booth than on the mountain. Maybe we should start an amateur ski fast burn ass comp where you have to chug half a bottle of sauce before sending your run.

@riseandalpine I first skied Whistler in 1968. All there was was the Creekside (rattle-trap) gondola, 2 chairs, and a T-bar. And 10 dollar lift tickets.
You truly are an adventurer. It’s a shame the camera doesn’t do the steepness justice. Looks like it’s flattening out then you get airborne off a small mound!🇬🇧
If they could design a POV cam that shows actual pitch, that would be game changing!

WB received almost a meter of snow over the past 48 hours. Today was full on A+ - huge dump over the evening and then the morning broke to a Bluebird day.
Insanely good skiing today!
Congrats to the WB /Vail team: they have received a lot of flack, but today they did a great job dealing with huge crowds, keeping the lifts running and opening the Alpine in a timely manner!

Nice turns bra, some epic lines in there! If you haven't already, try the auto lens on days like this. It brings out more of the surface detail, even in low light. Would have helped spot some of those sharks !!
I gotta run the auto lens more, it's super sick. I just have the natural tendency to still grab the classic low light when it's shady.

Mid-week is the best. I worked a full time job for the last three years so most of my videos are weekends unless I took holiday. This year I've taken content full time for the winter so I'm skiing more mid week days!

I was worried about getting a seasons pass this year, I figured I'd jinx the season for sure. Even buying a new motorcycle didn't work. And now my 20 year old SUV packed it in, I'm stuck waiting for my new RAV4 to be delivered in 5 or 6 weeks. Gonna be a late season for me.

ill be there the week of the 20th. Unfortunately I have a feeling its going to be packed because of the damn pride week tourists. How are the conditions coming along? Weather shows a 3 storm front coming in over the next ten 10 days.
it's looking like 30-50cm total from now till middle of next week then arctic outflow pushing cold air/clear skies into Whistler starting the 12th. Outflows usually last at least 3-5 days in my experience, sometimes less.
Conditions are coming along great. I think crowds shouldn't be too much of an issue. Always crowds at Whis but if you put in the work/time on the hill and be patient you'll get rewarded with sick days!
