I just picked up a 96 4x4 400 for $100 the other day. Working on rebuilding the top end. It already came with all the gaskets and all. Along with an aftermarket mikuni carburetor and I believe it's been bored over. I also have to replace the brakes along with the rear sprocket and it also needs a battery LOL similar problems to yours. But for $100 I can't complain. I'm definitely going to love this quad when it's done she's going to be beautiful

Check counterbalance oil, often overlooked. Under airbox.
Just got one for $300 just was wondering do you have to mix the oil and gas together
There should be a separate oil tank in front for your 2stroke oil. You should not need to mix
