Have you demoed the PSM 156 from Puritan Audio ? How do the two compare ?

Why hasn't this video got like 1 mil views? Isol8 makes the very best power boxes on the market. Nothing comes close in regards to it's natural sound. Yes Audioquest and Gigawatt boxes that cost a lot more may have a bit more punch and bigger sound, but it just not as natural and intimate.

I wish it were the case - obviously - but remember HiFi is niche

What do you attach to the green ground terminal?

Hi Simon nice vid, how does it compare to the IsoTek conditioner you had, thanks

Isotek is better and a better responsive firm too. Aquarius is very good. Not so much the sirius. Aquarius is better. I can sell you a new Sirius if you want one Sean. It will work well with sources but not so much power amps I think.

13th Note HiFi Reviews I am looking at the EVO3 Genesis this looks interesting for front end gear

I think the dim returns are decently big with those conditioners. Might be wrong. Borrow my Aquarius if nearby

13th Note HiFi Reviews thanks Simon I’m in Ireland I’m afraid, I think the Genenis one looks good but pricy for 1 socket

Sean Flynn buy a different dac to your Hegel (I think you are using that?) would be my rec. don’t go crazy on conditioners.

I also want to point out that the reviewer tested it on Cyrus equipment, which I myself have owned and is nowhere near the top. So if he can hear those differences on that low end gear, just imagine hearing it on the best gear. I myself use it on my Audio Note gear, and it makes other power boxes just sounding like they don't care/unnatural and that the general powerbars most people have that only cost like 1 dollar, sound extremely messy and noisy and actually very unnatural and out of tune without a stable volume control.

Opinions and each to own.....I’d say it depends what you’ve owned in a range re Cyrus and one product in a range is rarely comparable to another. So exercise caution with the house sound ethos. I agree it’s a great conditioner.

Another brilliant video, thank you. I have had my eye on the Audiquest Niagara 1000 and (soon to be released) Niagara 1200 conditioners. I have never tried one. Lots of people say they kill dynamics but until I demo one I won't know.

Hi Jim, thanks for the compliment. I am trying a lot with these vids. Ive heard that said with dynamics too. I didn’t find it sapped dynamics and even if is perceived in a particular system, I think what this unit will bring in tonal qualities and other areas will make up for it. But as always try before you buy is my recommendation (obviously) cheers Simon

@@13thnotehifireviews7 Thanks Simon. I'm not sure if I told you but I have had a Chord Qutest for a couple of months now and love it. I demo'd it with an M-Scaler and I also loved the sound the pair of them gave me. I returned the M-Scaler and then demo'd a TT2 and used it by itself. I didn't care for the sound of the TT2 as much as I do with the Qutest + M-Scaler combination.
I had to return the TT2 and now have just the Qutest again. Now you have shown this Isol-8 substation with your Qutest, I am tempted to try it before buying my own M-Scaler.

@@13thnotehifireviews7 ...could this (Isol-8) cure the sibilance I'm more, or less hearing 90% of the time?

@@nespressoman ...and will it 'thin' the sound out? - something I do NOT want!... thanks in advance, all the best, Si.

Simon Reynolds I think it will depend. These are really great for making music in your system more enjoyable and rounded but it depends what you have and how much it has that sibilance, which usually points to an issue with speakers and amps and possibly the dac. You could try with speaker wires too. Atlas hyper is very good for that.

I've been looking for the Minisub Axis for a while, how does it stack up against the Integra? Is the Integra worth the extra over the Minisub Axis?
You wrote you liked the Isotek better, can you explain why?

    • @13thnotehifireviews7
      @13thnotehifireviews7  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

The Integra was the better more obvious performer over the Minisub. I personally thought the Aquarius had less impact on the overall tone of my HiFi whilst improving dynamics, but conceivably this might be different on other speaker/amp combos of different tone.
