Picked up a repro of this game for $10. Cool part is it’s a UK ROM so the title screen says ninja cop and the cartridge label does too.
Also liked that they clearly made the cart look like a reproduction. They weren’t trying to fool anyone with a fake cart.
You commented on one of my Space Ghost photos. Looked your name up and here I am. Nice review, concise and to the point and Ninja Cop really is a great game. The grappling hook really makes it for me.

I was born in Russia in the 90s, and in those years when this great game came out, we only had dendy (a pirate clone of the nes) and sega mega drive 2. Fortunately, there are now emulators. Otherwise, players from Russia like me would never have had the opportunity to play these games.
It's not that it sold poorly, it just had a very limited (like, old Atlus numbers) print run. I got it back when it came out and still had to settle for a second-hand copy. I never saw a new copy, and that was back when I used to frequent a half-dozen Gamestops a week to dig through the old cartridge bins. Fantastic game, though, and worth it for anyone who likes the old Shinobi and Ninja Gaiden games.
Looked around and found the phrase "homage to Shadow of the Ninja" for the NES made by Natsume. That game had a planned Game Boy version, but Tecmo after obtaining the publishing rights made it into a Ninja Gaiden spin-off called Ninja Gaiden Shadow. And we are here.
Just started playing this "any way I can" and it's really fun! I picked it solely because of the awesome name. I knew nothing else about it.
This is one I wish I'd bought when I first discovered it. The price was pretty high back then, but now it's outrageous.
Now the game sells for like $200-$300, wtf

Picked this up a short while ago and haven't spent as much time on it as id like yet but what I've played so far has been quality. Have Hagane too and that's a another great, balls hard, game indeed.

I definitely find it to be hard as hell, super well made though. Probably one of the best Japanese developed 2D platformers on the system and it wasn't released in Japan! Gamestop had a used copy not long after it came out so I ended up buying that one, cartridge only, but I certainly wish I had bought it new and kept it in good condition.
PS Hudson published Hagane but I'm pretty sure it was developed by Red Company, who made Bonk and Tempo.

I think this game was upwards of 200 bucks at one point, 66 isn't nearly as bad as it used to be. My brother gave me his copy a while ago, he bought it when it was still dirt cheap and unknown so it's a cool thing to have around now that it's kinda rare and too expensive to go out and buy these days.

Ninja Five-O is a horrible alternative name. Ninja *Cop* sounds 1000% better.
This games is going for $200 right now 'good' condition. I'm tearing out my hair because this game looks so good...

I picked this up for 60 CAD from a store. I got lucky as they had lowered the price due to recent sales on ebay...however after further research it appears some guy made a batch of 10 or so fake copies and sold them at 60 a piece which they did not know I guess. Considering the date this was published, I think the $66 average you mention is a result of that as well, as it was going for 80-100 before the fakes popped up and now legit copies seem anywhere from 85-120.

One of my favourite games on the GBA; it's an excellent game. When I first played it I thought "it's like a really good Shinobi game... but better than Shinobi" and still think that today.
I don't think I beat the final level on hard difficulty though (with the lazers); not THAT felt like an unfair level.

I guess it would be too easy, but games like this with the prices, I wish companies would go and research things like this and do re-releases(for a updated platform of course since I don't think they could do it for the original platform now or even would) on say the 3ds/vita. It's rediculous how inflated the demand gets for some of these thanks to falling through the cracks originally

There were plenty of cheap copies in my country some years ago, like at $15 brand new, I thought the game wasn't that good so that was the reason no one was getting it =[

There’s an Etsy merchant who sells reproduction carts of Ninja Cop for $15. Put mine in my Gameboy Advance SP and it works great

It looks like Ninja Gaiden had sex with Shinobi, and Bionic Commando slipped in the back door.

im so freaking mad i had this game for years and never realized it was that expensive and it was my favorite game ever then my parents took it to game stop and traded it in one day for no reason then a now that im older i learn my favorite game is worth a lot of money and really hard to get.
if you want it you go get it! I lost many to gamestops evil trade in ideology, been rebuilding my collection and every penny i spend on getting that nostalgia from my childhood. What else is there to live for besides family friends good health and fun.

nice vid. played this one for a hour or so not long ago. wasnt bad. gba was very overlooked by me. Dode! you ever play or check out the bruce lee game for gba? if not check it out, its also not 60+ dollars
+FieryReign yeah and theres flash carts which arent emulation.. which i think is a happy medium though there isnt one for gba *that i know of... regardless yeah bruce lee was good. the stealth aspects i didnt care for but was cool they tried and it didn't ruin the game for me.

In a Cex store in Birmingham it's going for £440! Thats with NO Gameboy console attached! It's the 'game' only! I thought its a joke but it listed it again further down a game line as being £470 this time! I mean Cex; it's December 2020 Not 1990!

Sounds weird, but 5-0 actually means "cop".
First of all, *EVERYONE* knows that.
Secondly, they are nicknamed that because of the TV show "Hawaii 5.0" from the 70's, where that was the name of their unit.
Only in America, the rest of the word doesn’t know that. Hence why it’s not called Ninja 5-0 elsewhere...

step 2: shower the game in praise if it has multiplayer of any kind regardless if its good or not.

People are way too silly. Ninja cop is just as awful as Ninja Five-O
