Citroen Ami EV Ran Out of Power after 37 Miles - in a Thunderstorm!

Set out in warm sunshine, in my Citroen Ami Electric Quadricycle, for a trip into the Ochil Hills of Perthshire. I intended to drive down Dunning Glen and onto Auchterarder where I could recharge the car for the return journey.
Unfortunately the weather turned nasty and I decided to return when I got (the 18.5 miles) to Dunning Village. In theory I would have enough range (24 miles) to get back home. However, the road back from Dunning to Muckhart is long and steep and the Ami used 14 miles of range on this stretch (it only used 8 miles range on the way down). I got the 3 mile range warning in Saline which is about 1.5 miles from my house. This reduced the speed to 10 mph of the steep hill out of Saline and range dropped to 1 mile before I reached the house. On arriving the range was showing zero miles! Phew - just made it. All the time the car had been running through torrential rain.
The journey was 37 miles and the Ami used all 46 miles of range. Driving time was 1hr 45 minutes. Recharge time was just over 4 hours.

Yup, that's definitely a Ramp. Under different conditions, that would have been a lovely run and starting out under those conditions, you wouldn't expect to need the genset. Man that was Stoatin' at your place.

Hi Lloyd, nothing worse that a warning bleep from an engine check or ABS light. Usually means something expensive.

I only get near full range, about 44 miles. If i reverse my journeys exactly. I go up a couple of steep hills regularly, but always go back the same way. More random journeys are impossible to judge energy wise.

I sometimes get a little water tricking through the door seal. Glad the car has plastic floors and rubber mats.

Unfortunately the Ami's battery and control system work on a canbus system and hacking them is beyond my pay grade.

@@DougsShed Can't wait! Also, Microlino is now available to buy in the UK. I put an order in and cancelled the Citroen Ami 😅 Top battery range is 178 miles.

really? are you new? get a bigger better battery, all that pretty car ain't worth the dust it's made out of without a serious power source, it's really the engine, the electric motor is just the transmission to the ground of the batteries power. so spend your money on the battery or save and carry extra batteries.
electricity is the gas
battery is the motor
electric motor is the transmission
