It won't matter with a deer hit, it will be a total lost either way, the trick is to have the bumper insured as a accessory, it cost about $2 a month extra, I have $5800 in offroad parts covered for about $15 a month. Hope this helps you.
A deer would likely not be a total loss with an aftermarket metal bumper on a pickup. Elk, moose or steer… yes. More so with this style of minimalist winch mount bumper.
This is my own speculation, I don't have statistics or references, but... for a road crash, the aluminum will likely be better in terms of energy absorption/safety. Since steel is more rigid, a front end crash will translate more of that energy into the frame of the vehicle and ultimately the driver. Aluminum being a softer metal will crumple under that force, what that means its shedding energy in the process; which is what traditional bumpers do.
If it is offroad, am choosing steel. If it is road, am choosing aluminium
How do aluminum rock sliders hold up? They're more for abrasion than impacts, and Al is soft
They hold up well but will get scratched up more than steel will. We think it's worth it for the weight savings.
Spend a lot of time out in the hill country and I’ve hit a few deer. Would aluminum hold up?

And for a crash which one do you recommend?
He answered that @ 0:52. I will NEVER get aluminum bumpers

this is an amazing product/design, ruin with branding
I actually thought the Victory emblem looked pretty good! If you don't like it, you could put a sticker over it, or bondo it in
Xterra please
