- In this episode of The Catholic Gentleman, John and Sam discuss the fact that we as gentlemen desire to be competent and capable in the world. A man wants to know (or at least feel like he knows) that no matter what situation he’s placed in, he’ll be able to handle himself - to act rather than react.

Thanks guys. I have been struggling for the last 50 years, and tonight listening to you it was as though a light had been turned on.
Now I understand.
We are on the same page! I am creating a website primarily for men and it's all about spiritual warfare. Your content is amazing!!! You guys are like commanders in this good fight. Keep it coming! Be relentless!!!
I sent you our list of what we teach our children about personal finance, in hopefully an equitable exchange of the typewritten list of 20 skills.
Good points. I have some things to work on! I can't believe a male cop couldn't change a tire!
Good talk guys.
I was looking for chanel like this.
Realizing that pride is the most destructive force in the world.
I listened to the podcast while doing some yard work. Could you please provide a list? Or I could exercise perseverance and listen again. 😉
Hey John, you bet. Send me an email at info@catholicgentleman.com and Ill send you the list! Thanks for listening.
Love the video. Haggling is such a pet peeve of mine, though! Really frustrating to hear "you can do better" when in good conscience you have put your best offer forward.
So true! I appreciate the comment. I have experienced more defeats than were admitted in the video. God bless, Dane! - John
I always feel as though I am being rude or inconsiderate and very un-gentleman-like when I am haggling. Though I know that isn't true I still can't help but feel that way and ultimately will cave hehe.
Great Vid!
Thanks, Kein. God bless!
A list would've been nice
Is there a list to share with others? Thanks!
Hi Jacqueline, If you, or anyone reading this comment, wants a list, just send me an email at info@catholicgentleman.com and I will send you one. Thanks for being a part of our ministry. -John
What skills did we forget?
Shining their own shoes, fix small things at home like a socket not working properly and cooking basic food to avoid waiting for a someone else to do so
Fishing!
@@CAZaboni Absolutely, great additions. It is something my father could always do and it has left a lasting impression on me. Blessings!
@@brianbalkenende619 Being born in Minnesota, I can attest that this is a great hobby/skill to have. Not to mention the obvious virtues that have to be practiced/lived while fishing! Great addition! Thanks, - John
#21. Writing a list
Nooooooo, don't use charcoal. Step up your grilling game with different woods.
@doublem1971 Haha, agreed. Definitely a spectrum. Hopefully, we can agree to get men away from propane only, or ever. ;)
