  • In this episode of The Catholic Gentleman, John and Sam discuss the fact that we as gentlemen desire to be competent and capable in the world. A man wants to know (or at least feel like he knows) that no matter what situation he’s placed in, he’ll be able to handle himself - to act rather than react.

Thanks guys. I have been struggling for the last 50 years, and tonight listening to you it was as though a light had been turned on.
    Now I understand.

We are on the same page! I am creating a website primarily for men and it's all about spiritual warfare. Your content is amazing!!! You guys are like commanders in this good fight. Keep it coming! Be relentless!!!

I sent you our list of what we teach our children about personal finance, in hopefully an equitable exchange of the typewritten list of 20 skills.

I listened to the podcast while doing some yard work. Could you please provide a list? Or I could exercise perseverance and listen again. 😉

Love the video. Haggling is such a pet peeve of mine, though! Really frustrating to hear "you can do better" when in good conscience you have put your best offer forward.

So true! I appreciate the comment. I have experienced more defeats than were admitted in the video. God bless, Dane! - John

I always feel as though I am being rude or inconsiderate and very un-gentleman-like when I am haggling. Though I know that isn't true I still can't help but feel that way and ultimately will cave hehe.

@@brianbalkenende619 Being born in Minnesota, I can attest that this is a great hobby/skill to have. Not to mention the obvious virtues that have to be practiced/lived while fishing! Great addition! Thanks, - John

@doublem1971 Haha, agreed. Definitely a spectrum. Hopefully, we can agree to get men away from propane only, or ever. ;)
