The older and more experienced I got the more I realized that it's not what bass is or isn't, it's how well the playing serves the music and the sound, and fuck me silly if his playing isn't doing the absolute best for the music that Manowar did and does. I remember getting my first Manowar cassette in the 80s, and they still are going strong. Joey has always amazed me with being able to play a bass, with such narrow tiny neck with bass strings so close together...way more narrow than fender jass even
