  • Sacramento is the capital of California and a must-visit destination for travelers. I'd like to introduce Lake Minden RV Park, one of the campgrounds near Sacramento, which is part of Thousand Trails membership.
I stayed there for four nights this time. On the first day of arrival in April, it was already over 80 degrees Fahrenheit. It was hot. However, the other days were typical April weather with highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s. One night in the middle, rain pattered on the roof, but the rest of the days had good weather. The campground is nestled around a lake, and this time I stayed in the D section.
Lake Minden is about 25 miles away from downtown Sacramento, which is usually within a 30-minute drive.
Lake Minden Campground has a total of 212 sites and is a large campground open year-round. Reservations are possible even without a Thousand Trails membership.
Located on the grassy plains of the Sacramento Valley, Lake Minden RV Campground provides endless recreation and adventure. Fish, boat or just enjoy the water on our private 41-acre lake, where fishing for catfish and largemouth bass is a year-round pastime. Hiking, picnicking, attending local festivals and enjoying the wildlife are also popular at Lake Minden RV Campground, as the California scenery creates the perfect backdrop for many outdoor activities.
Our central location close to major cities makes for a convenient weekend getaway or a week-long retreat. While this campground are open year-round, outgoing adventure-seekers will especially enjoy our April through October season. This is most active time and the campground will be bustling with guests and tons of things to do!
Now let's take a drive around.
Section A is the closest to the entrance. It has electric, water, and sewer hookups. The sites are narrow, making it difficult to maintain privacy with neighboring campers. Section A has restrooms and laundry facilities. Due to the abundance of trees, using satellite internet like Starlink may be challenging, but cellphone service is decent.
Among the remaining sections, Section D has electric and water hookups. Although there's no sewer hookup, there's a dump station near the restrooms in the central area. While there are no laundry facilities, the restrooms are newer and more spacious compared to Section A. The spacing between sites in this section is also not very wide.
The other sections consist of dry camping sites without hookups.
The entire campground surrounds Lake Minden, and there are sections along the perimeter trail. The lakeside views at night are beautiful, and there are quite a few stray cats around. The sunset view from Section D is stunning.
If you're planning a trip to Sacramento, it could be a pretty decent choice
