Just so you know, I don't mind poor editing. I'm sure I could do with NO editing. As long as we're able to see the world with y'all, and cross the ocean blue. Don't spend too much time on editing. It's excellent just in its pure, raw form. Thank you!!
It is stupid how excited I get when I see a new post from you guys! I just get giddy! Im loving the daily videos! I'm a single father to a 10 year old boy, you guys give me a glimpse at what I want to experience, hopefully with my son! Thank you for bringing us along!
Hi Guys!!! Brett, Boom Vang replacement .... have a look at the Seldon Strut, its nitrogen to lift your boom, but the cool thing is it's designed to have rope blocks fitted (6 to 1 works great). I think the #2 size would fit straight on then run the sheet back to your cockpit top. Just the down-stop to work out. I think about an hour to fit for you. They work great and the nitrogen strut lasts at least 5 years, mine about 8 years, been fitted for 13 years now. OH Brett, your boom inner fitting needs to be repaired very soon. oversize the rivets and use Duralac. Cheers.
Good recommendation. I’ve been replacing older Z-Spars gear with Selden recently, it’s not cheap but nothing is. It’s all been excellent quality gear and the tech backup and advice has been spot-on. Cheers, R. 😎👍🍻
I can’t tell you how much I’ve been looking forward to these videos! Inspiring me to learn to sail this summer! I love you guys’ outlook on life and the world. Let’s do this!
I loved Brett’s expression when he looked at the gooseneck where boom connects and noticed the asymmetrical gap. And realized, yeah that’s a problem but there is sweet nothing I can do about it here, and quickly changed the subject.
Having a 3rd set of hands to help with videography is great! Jade and Brett are the "stars" of this channel. It's great to see the dynamic between the two of them uninterrupted by one of them holding the camera.
I absolutely LOVE these videos , I know they're a ton of work with all of the editing and all, but I look so forward to watching every time you post ! The 3 of you together is a PERFECT mix! I can only imagine the weight removed from your shoulders when you knew there would be another, experienced sailor joining you on this voyage. Hope she sticks around !
Love the last shot with the full moon. I learned in welding school that heat or constant friction kills molecules and that softens metals causing them to break. Example, start bending a piece of metal, the more you bend it, the hotter it becomes at the bending point, destroying the molecules, the easier it becomes to bend until it finally breaks. These ocean crossing videos are addictive.😂. Got to tune in to see what’s happening next on the big adventure. 👍. Stay safe. 🙏😎✌️
Watching you ladies in a never-ending fashion show is wonderful. So glad to be sharing your trip and have been a fan almost from the beginning of your journeys.
I needed more content after watching these everyday so I finally went back and watched everything from the first video. Wow what a journey! Let's is such a great outlook on life. Thank you for the hours of content and I look forward to hours more to come!
Thx for the tip on speeding up an audiobook! Never thought of that! One of my complaints about audiobooks is I can read faster than be read to… so I sped it up and it’s now way better!
My Lasik surgery was totally worth it! I had it done in 2007, and it is still working great. I do need cheaters now, but my far distance vision was the problem, and that's fine still. As you age, the near vision tends to go. Well, maybe not for sailors! Safe travels!
I had lasik in 2002, and zero regrets after wearing heavy glasses for 35 years. I *do* miss my macro vision… I could look at tiny things just off the end of my nose, and now I need to use reading glasses for books, which is opposite of my previous life. But not needing them to drive, and being able to actually see makes up for it. :)
Same boat as yours. We did broke our down haul like yours. We cut the bottom part to where it was broken, clean the rusted spring and pop riveted was was still good from the outside part. Still working good. You also could have used a preventer to keep the boom from flying up. Really nice to follow you!
I have been watching your videos and love your adventure. I heard you ask about Lasik. I had it done almost 30 years ago. BEST thing I ever did. I was basically blind. Could not see the clock without glasses when I woke up. I think my vision was 20/400. Had a bad stigmatism. I was told that when I got older, I would need reading glasses. All was true. I had very thick glasses. I am now 65, and I finally needed glasses. I wish I had done it much earlier. I was heavy into sports and glasses suck, rain, sweat, etc. GET IT DONE, you will be forever glad you did. Keep up your great channel. BTW, I have not seen you guys so happy as now, with your new crew member. Love it, you guys get along so well.
Things are farther away than they seem out on the water. I've never been on the Ocean, but the illusion is still the same on the Great Lakes where I travel. I love your show, the girls and the dogs.
I had Lasix surgery about 10 years ago in Reading, England. It was one of the best things I’ve ever done (apart from buying my Oceanis 50 back in 2008!). I was about -7 with astigmatism and now I see perfectly (apart from my reading glasses!)
Lasik surgery DEFINITELY worth it for me. I wore contacts/glasses for 45 years before getting Lasik. It's amazing to be able to see when I wake up and to be able to rub my eyes without worrying about my contacts. I don't have to worry about the wind while we are underway or about my contacts if I get splashed. I waited so long because I was afraid of surgery on my eyes. I had my Lasik done about a year before we bought our boat and moved aboard.
Jade, you asked if lasik is worth it. I say absolutely. I had it done about 20 years ago and I have only hadI 2 drawbacks. My eyes are very dry and my close up vision has gotten worse as I have gotten older. I am now 52 and my close up started to get worse about 5 years ago. This happens anyways but doctors say it happens a bit faster with lasik. Both my sister and I are completely happy with lasik. My brother in law is frustrated with close up but his distance is fantastic. Be sure to talk to your doctor about dry eyes and close up vision issues as you get older.
Another banging episode watched at work 0700 this morning the girls smiles brought the sun out to play and cheered me up, good job on repairs Brett. So good watching this passage really is super content. Keep it up guys 👌☀️......🔥
Potatoes and Egg's.. Grate the potatoes in to a bowl, Pour out excess fluid Add 2 - 3 Egg's salt n Pepper mix and scoop out a table spoon flatten in a pan 🍳 and shallow fry them in Oil. Hash Brown's but My Nan used to call them Mock Fish.. Loving the journey love from The Land Down Under 😘 😘 😘 😘
I can’t add anything more than what others have said. These videos make my incredible life even incredibler (yes, I have decided that’s a word.) Please, please, please Aiyana… stick around. The three of you together is like pancakes, butter, and maple syrup. It just wouldn’t be right without all three. ❤❤❤
Definitely recommend loazzick surgery Jade. I had it done back in 92 and never regretted it. They do one eye at a time and each treatment only takes like a minute or two… no pain at all!
Great video Brett! You all make it seem so serene and peaceful yet you show too...oh crap... gotta fix this too. So glad it's all working out great. Be safe and I'll see your next video. Love n hugs to you all!! Good winds💨 Myk 🤗 🤗 🤗 💜 💙 🧡 ⛵️ ⚓️

People just forget to say it is also a good way to "ease off" the vang.
Lasik eye surgery is absolutely worth it! I had PRK done in 2018 (similar procedure) and I could not be happier with the results. The procedure is very short (you wont feel a thing) and the recovery is extremely short with Lasik and a few days for PRK!

Thank you for doing these daily videos. I have always wanted to make a Transatlantic journey since going on a cruise on the QE2 and talking to the crew about it. So far watching it on your channel is the closest I’ve come to actually doing it though. Glad to see it is amazingly smooth for you so far.
I had lasek done back in 2000. I was 1 of the 10% that would experience discomfort. Day 3 after the surgery was the worst with very itchy eyes that you absolutely cannot rub. Took a month before I could drive at night due to very bad halos around everything illuminated. On top of that, my surgeon said I would need it again in 25 years, or wear reading glasses. (Had surgery due to being near sighted). I still have 20/20 vision, but I am playing the trombone now trying to read things. Even after all that, 10/10 would recommend.
You guys reading SJM is literally making my life better 😂 i love seeing other people enjoy the same books that have been such staples throughout my life! Would love to hear some book recs, Jade! 📚📖
Glad to see you're enjoying the calm weather rather than getting frustrated by it. Do you plane to get a "wind catcher" sail before your return journey across the Atlantic? (Assuming you're not going to continue east around the world!?!)
These videos have been amazing. Really enjoying watching your progress and the daily life on board! I've almost gotten my normally extremely sceptical/judgey family to watch. 😂
I had Lazic done in '96' mostly so I could wear non-prescription sunglasses when riding. But I also had a CDL and after twelve years I needed to wear glasses to pass the eye exam. I am going to have cataract surgery in August and the doctor saw some minor scaring from the Lazic. I would do it again.
Loving every day. I start looking around 5pm est for the IG post or the tracker update. Dreaming of the day we can finally buy a liveaboard boat. My husband has sailed but I have not so now I want to take sailing lessons so I'm ready. We won't be doing any ocean crossings! Just day trips from port to port probably along east coast and Caribbean.
You guys are putting up videos faster than I can watch them. Love it.
VLOG game is strong rn. A third is helping a ton 💪
Yes love it!!!! Good job guys!!!!
falling behind big time here! 😂

Really enjoying your groovy Day In The Life sailing adventure episodes. The three of you ooze with cuteness.
Great job guys, very much enjoying the Atlantic crossing with you. Next best thing to being there with you.
I love y’all and y’all’s content so much and I hope you continue doing great things

Super Amazeballs that you guys are posting these videos during your crossing. Huge hugs and thank you.
LASIK is so much worth it. I had it done 20 years ago and never regretted it. I had no issues and never had to go back for any adjustments.
I needed more content after watching these everyday so I finally went back and watched everything from the first video. Wow what a journey! Let's is such a great outlook on life. Thank you for the hours of content and I look forward to hours more to come!

This is literally the only TH-cam channel I have notifications on for because i get so excited about new videos
Thanks for the drill attachments info! Got them for my boat and will be testing next week 😃
Great way to get everyone more up to date. 12 hour turn around… PERFECT !
this is fantastic!!!
Throne of Glass! I love that series! You guys rock!

Hello from Lachine Michigan 12 miles west of Lake Huron great lake beautiful in land sea northern Michigan love your videos stephenwolf
Since you haven’t talked about your auto pilot I assume it is going well!? Love watching you 3 everyday! So much fun! Thank you!
Love watching EyeAnna cook. Can she also make Peye. Her laugh is priceless.
My boom vang was just a 4 to 1 mainsheet that I used. I would disconnect the shackle & connect it to the slotted toe rail as preventer
I had Lasix surgery about 10 years ago in Reading, England. It was one of the best things I’ve ever done (apart from buying my Oceanis 50 back in 2008!). I was about -7 with astigmatism and now I see perfectly (apart from my reading glasses!)

You guys are great but the pups are the stars of the show.
You three put together a wonderful episode !! It makes for a nice way to start my Saturday morning.
I look for your videos every day. thank you for sharing your adventures with us.
Definitely recommend loazzick surgery Jade. I had it done back in 92 and never regretted it. They do one eye at a time and each treatment only takes like a minute or two… no pain at all!
I liked Brett's braids! Safe travels ❤️
LOVE your daily videos. I sail so I understand the wear and tear on sailboat components.
Love you all ❤
Always inspirational watching and learning from you guys!!!! Stay safe❤️
Great video Brett! You all make it seem so serene and peaceful yet you show too...oh crap... gotta fix this too. So glad it's all working out great. Be safe and I'll see your next video. Love n hugs to you all!! Good winds💨
Myk 🤗 🤗 🤗 💜 💙 🧡 ⛵️ ⚓️
Thanks so much for letting us hang out with you guys during your crossing!
Question, noticed that your salon cushions look like some kind of leather or faux leather. How are they holding up with the doggos. We have two onboard as well and are looking at reupholstering. TIA!
Rubbing and chafing and salt water, oh my! 15.40 Holy moly, how'd you let that vang take this passage. This format is wild. You're setting a new bar!
A most magnificent episode!!
I look forward the these videos every day!! Great work!
Good work on the vang fix. Maybe move your preventer further aft on the boom - that's a lot of leverage there
And that's what I was telling you about complacency. You can be doing everything right. But it does not mean other people are doing it right. He was probably texting and steering at the same time.
Looks like another beautiful day.
I've had laser eye surgery and it's one of the best things I've ever done. I does not hurt at all during surgery. All you get is during the healing procedure it feels like you have sand in your eyes but manageable. That soon goes and you get unreal eye sight again
Buckit over board is good drill glad u followed my suggestion
What an amazing day 💪💯🇺🇲 much love 💘 Ianna 💘 😻 💜 💛 💚 🧡 till the next one
You think correctly about the vang - I don't know why you say you don't know. 🙃
I see at the 18:37 mark that the mainsheet traveller could somehow be longer, proportionally releasing the pressure that goes into the vang. In a utopy world, I guess it would stretch as far wide as the boat itself, witch of course it's not practicable. I guess it could be a future project to make it as wide as (or maybe even wider than) the sprayhood, making it end as close as possible to the kitchen windows.
It's also very valid to point out that: when sailing downwind, the sail is working like a chute (and not generating lift, as when sailing upwind). So, it's not that important to keep the sail as stretched flat and crazy tensioned as it would be on a super hard close hauled configuration. The vang does play a crucial role, however, in preventing the boom to wave around up/in and down/out repeatedly as the waves rock the boat all the time, some times making the sail (and boom) whiplash pretty hard on itself, breaking stuff by repeatedly slamming stuff.
Of course, if it gets really bad (less wind and bigger waves) you are always better off tying the aft end of the boom trough (inside) the middle mooring cleat and on to the aft mooring cleat (witch is faster to reach from the helm... many are happy to tie it directly to the middle cleat only).
note: you may probably already know that the main really good reason to tie the boom this way, is the prevention of unintentional jibe... People just forget to say it is also a good way to "ease off" the vang.
Loving the videos, thank you for sharing this experience! ❤
when we were sailing in the Med. we churned up alot of florescent algae. was cool to see the trail behind us.
That sigh after looking at the boom ...sounds like a future repair.
Love the daily updates on the crossing 😊
Lasik eye surgery is absolutely worth it! I had PRK done in 2018 (similar procedure) and I could not be happier with the results. The procedure is very short (you wont feel a thing) and the recovery is extremely short with Lasik and a few days for PRK!
many thanks for the most recent vidéo. repairs on the high seas. i suppose that you'll be ordering parts soon for some of the repairs. you're quite right Brett, the stresses on the riggings is insane. the motion of the sea, the counter motion of the ship and then the corrosion. your navigation skills are impeccable. you follow directions well as would any good pilot. are you still concurrent as a pilot ?
until next time, happy seas to y'all
I love the braid idea!
I live for these videos. They are literally keeping me from falling into another cycle of my chronic depression. No pressure though 😂😂
thank you again
Partially to feed the algorithm, but mainly to give you guys/gals a thumbs up on the videos. They're great!!
I've owned boats and RV's. This saying applies to both. The only thing that works on a boat or rv is the owner. Lol😂 Please elaborate on the different sails your considering and how they will affect the sailing performance. Loving the video's, you guys are amazing!

It happens that these ships come in much closer out of pure curiosity, but then there always is, quite nice, radio contact.
I'm surprised you don't carry a few epi pens 😮
Hi Guys, loving your vlogs. Reminds my of my crossing in 2013.
Get Lasic surgery, it’s the nuts. As an international marksman who’s sight was failing it was a game changer. I had my weak eye done first, the outcome was incredible and instant. I was able to see better than I had ever done in that eye. This was in 2006.

Get it done👍
Little to mutch tension on the boomvang you can see the bow in the video on the boom
At the end of the day I race to get everything done so I can watch you three. Oh shut I mean 5❤
A perfect pancake recipe from an old friend I had when I was young's Portuguese grandma. Two eggs, 1 cup flower, 1 cup milk and pinch of salt.
Yes, lasik is worth it! Had mine done 17 years ago. So nice to not have to mess with glasses or contacts.
Took me exactly one month from Bermuda to the Azores back in the 80s. 11th August to 11th September.
Thank you for doing these daily videos. I have always wanted to make a Transatlantic journey since going on a cruise on the QE2 and talking to the crew about it.
World class filmmakers IMO. Thanks again for sharing your journey in such a beautiful, interesting, and artful way.
These videos have been amazing. Really enjoying watching your progress and the daily life on board! I've almost gotten my normally extremely sceptical/judgey family to watch. 😂
Live from the atlantic good repair rigging job brett. Yes replace it
I had Lazic done in '96' mostly so I could wear non-prescription sunglasses when riding. But I also had a CDL and after twelve years I needed to wear glasses to pass the eye exam. I am going to have cataract surgery in August and the doctor saw some minor scaring from the Lazic. I would do it again.
Y’all are making me hungry! And I haven’t heard of most of what you’re eating…I’m from the South. Lol Love y’all!!
