    Maybe offset every second row of modules by 1 or 2 blocks such that neighboring modules can get creepers from the corner of another module. Because creepers can then also spawn on the corner blocks with the same amount of modules, the amount of spawning spaces increased by 14% without increasing the amount of entities, meaning more of the mobcap can be utilized, and more boats will be double filled killing creepers faster, increasing the rates of this kind of farm.

      @@JohnR31415 He's not talking about changing the shape of the module, he's talking about placing the modules to pack together slightly better. Because the module shape doesn't change, all spawned creepers should be in range of the minecart.

      @@erictheepic5019 the next row can’t be any closer than it already is because there isn’t space to get closer without destroying the tiling.
      So the corner of one module is still a full block away from the minecart of the next module.
      Unless I’ve completely misread the configuration

    I think reducing the number of spawning spaces per boat will increase the spawn rates, because there are fewer mobs standing around not being picked up

      "well if the mob cap is maxed the spawn rate dosen't really matter" is what I was about to write but there are prob creepers standing next to full minecart-boats and some are half empty or empty but at this point you prob need to test it to know what is most efficient, in therms of items per hour, lower spawning spaces or a filled mob cap

      Actually standing around mobs is perfect because as soon as they go into the boat I eat the killing chamber they're immediately removed so they can be replaced as soon as the boats fixed the main limiting factor for this is he could use more boats the problem is is if the boats decide to get weird which is kind of the drawback to using multiple on one rail system

    Since the mob cap is completely filled, wouldn’t you want to prioritise lowering the size of the farm until it barely rides the edge of mob cap as then the creepers are more likely to double up in the minecarts and die faster via lava? With the farm so large id doubt that the lava would be increasing the rates by very much since the mobs would be statistically more spread out.

      Creepers in the minecarts are already out of the mob cap, there's no need to kill them as fast as possible

      well, if the mobs are spread out, they're less likely to triple up, fill both slots in the boat, and then have a creeper standing in captured in the spawning spaces and take up the mobcap
      so maybe theres a balance of optimization somewhere in the middle of increasing or decrease the farm size

    a farm based on long rows instead of square modules could be much more compact
    e.g. if each row is 3-wide, having a minecart track in the middle, we get a spawning space density of 2/3. farm currently is 3/8 i think
    to make this work, we could dispense minecarts and boats at one side of the farm, then break and recollect them at the other. don't know if there are already designs to automatically place and collect boats in minecarts

      could just pair up each row to make a U-shape, that way all the complicated machinery is only on one side, and there's no need to break the carts

      Good idea I thought simmilar, just extend the first version (with 2 spawning spaces next to each rail) into a longer version, but then there is the problem that you can't make it too long bc you want it so every creeper gets picked up nearly immeadiately, if you don't do that it's filling the mob cap and reduces spawn spaces.
      Then I thought send in multiple minecart-boats but there are two problems I could think of, sending in new minecart-boats and destroy them at the end,
      first problem the farm is too low so there is prob not enought space for that and second if a creeper gets picked up at the end it just sits there after the minecart-boat is destroyed.
      If he makes the first version but longer even with the perfect ammount of carts the version in the video is still better bc it killes the creepers faster.

      I think it would just be more efficient to just put chicken into the boat to force all creeper to the second seat on pick up and instead of suffocation damage have the blocks be water sources so the creeper gets turned on fire by cauldron and put out and put on fire repeatedly again to kill it even faster

      I tought of having one long zigzag Module with multiple minecartboats. That would allow for a killstation with lava for both creepers at the end of each halve loop. Plus you had less minecarttracks and less holes and the likelyhood of a 3 boats in a row being double filled is smaller than having 2 boats filled.

      @@AnimeRaupe for the first problem: rails can go up slopes lol. just have the vehicle assemblers and collectors a bit higher up
      for the 2nd problem: there are lots of ways you could make sure the creepers are killed before the boat is broken.
      there would be some extra mechanism on the end of the row, but this would take up some space and limit the maximum no. of spawning spaces the farm could have

    Surely you could have an extra block gap between each minecart and boat, and have trapdoors as a barrier between the blocks to make sure creepers don’t move to the middle of the two blocks?

      You can, but then the boats can't kill the creepers fast enough to keep up. You will hit the mobcap very quickly.

      The creepers then would hve a chance to walk in between the blocks and avoid the collision of the boat which then wouldn't be able to pick them up

      Hoppers can handle a max of 9,000 items/hr, so you’d need 73 to transport 650k/hr

      there's even faster collection and Transport Systems than just Hoppers alone. This as far as I can tell just seems like it's trying to milk as much as you can from it

    Love that I learned about the boat+minecart trick, because for gnembons classic flush farm, if you build it with room for enderment to spawn, and then build 4 of these death carousels with a dropper pooping down into the collector stream it's a nice place for the endermen to panic teleport to which removes them from the mob cap as they're picked up. It's not like it's super efficient as they don't always notice the free spots, but beats having them teleport to the roof.

    It would be interesting to analyze how lag affects the real-time rates of farms. Like if you make a farm too big and it starts to lag, that eats in to the real-time rates of the farm, but does it decrease the rates so much that scaling up isn't worth it? For example, if you double the size of the farm, and get double the items per in-game hour, but the game runs 30% slower than real-time, you'd still be getting 40% more items per real-time hour than the original farm. A graph of items per real-time hour vs farm size for a typical farm would be really interesting.

    Would it be possible to pre-occupy the boats with shorter mobs so that the creepers would always go to the second spot affected by the lava cauldrons?

      I don't think it would help. While a creeper in the first spot is killed more slowly than one in the 2nd, the 2nd spot is available to pick up another creeper if one is available. The boat can't pick up another while both spots are filled, but the time it takes to free up the 2nd spot will be the same regardless of whether the first spot holds a creeper or a shorter mob. If anything, the current approach has an advantage since it allows the boat to sometimes pick up 2 creepers in quick succession.

    so is this farm very dependent on being built in the void? I tried to recreate it in the sky over the ocean accepting I would have less output, but I don't seem to be spawning anything :(

      I did recreate it on my privat world which is just a void map and it also doesnt spawn any creppers or any other mob.

      the mechanics behind this are baked in Minecraft. as long as you have sufficient mobproofing of the area around your farm, it should work fine.

    As far as I know the funace only emitted light in the front when it was added to mc, but mojang then removed it because it was buggy

    On the lag front your specs in the F3 screen look fine I would just recommend allocating more ram. You have it set to 2 Gb I usually run at least 4, just leave plenty for windows.

    WAIT, I might have something we can improve for better density... You could distance the module by one more if you put 2 trapdoors on opposite side
    Current pattern with 2 modules (as seen from the top ):
    OOO SOOO
    OUUU OUUUO
    OUXU\OUXUO
    OUUU OUUUO
    OOO SOOO
    O= spawning spaces ; U = rails ; \ and / = trapdoors on different sides ; X= redstone block ; S = solid block (I added spaces on trapdoor for ease of readability but no empty block)
    For better density and reducing the number of minecart-boats you could go with:
    OOOS SOOO
    OUUUO/\OUUUO
    OUXUO/\OUXUO
    OUUUO/\OUUUO
    OOOS SOOO
    That's not quite double the density but quite close to it and it should still catch all mobs.
    Total we got 12 spawning spaces per modules instead of spreading it with 2 modules making it 6 per modules but the design is 2 blocks larger ( You might be able to get back the 2 solid blocks with some good use of intertwining lines with trapdoors but honestly not quite sure it is worth it... )
    (I was trying with 48 modules collected via command block, it seems only 50ish% of the modules are using the lava cauldrons(2 creeper).So, those might have too many creepers meaning they're saturated. But 50%ish means it's mostly fine even with 12 spawning spaces and for farms under the mob cap this would be easier to build and better for frame rate. )
    Also, I got just over 16k (test of 5 min x12) per hour so for 650k you would need something like 1950 modules ( assuming linearity so not hitting mob cap but also not benefiting as much from group spawns). Meanwhile in the video you use only 20x20x4=1600 modules so clearly not as good. Could try 9 average spawning spaces instead of 12 by keeping your design on the x axis and my addition on the z axis to minimize lag vs production but honestly don't quite wanna rebuild the whole thing... the boat where hard to place even with commands...)
    (For anyone willing to try here is the command: /summon minecraft:minecart ~ ~-2 ~ {Passengers:[{id:boat}],Motion:[1.0,0.0,0.0]}
    And if not using scarpet this can collect the items easily : tp @e[type=item,distance=3..] ~ ~2 ~ ( in a repeat command block ))

    Ilmango, I think you could overcome the Methodz's type farm issue of static boat not picking the second creeper by putting multiple boat-in-the-minecart in the same spot. You could stack minecarts in one block over the rails. Maybe two or three should suffice.
    Actually, you may kill creepers by entity cramming that way, however I can see the issue with amounts of entities with this approach.

      i don't know but even if the creeper is killed faster, it's only one at a time and it is preferable to kill 1creeper fast and 1 slowly than only killing 1 fast

      I didn't make any for 100k, but it should be easy to clone it yourself in creative with the basic module being a 4x4. 13x13 modules give you roughly 100k items per hour

    Would it be possible to improve the farm by offsetting the modules by 1 block so they tile the plane better? The modules are cross shaped and can tile a plane without needing the filler block at the corner if they are offset slightly which would make everything more compact and allow more modules within spawning range of the player.

    idk minecraft could either make hoppers make multiblocks (so a long rows or collums of hoppers would only check once to collect an item lowering impact on the server and would transport them faster) or just add a block that collects a single type of item from all actions that would cause it to drop in the proximity of that block

    Improvement idea: think about the ratio of spawning spaces per rail if you want to maximize density.
    currently you get 6 unique spaces per 8 rails(0.75x).
    with more spacing and trapdoors you can get 12 space per 8 rails (1.5x), as people have suggested.
    OR:
    just make a long rail line with spaces on either side (2x)
    there are 2 more advantages:
    1. ditch the cauldrons, with two seats in each boat its rare to miss a creeper, and if so the next minecart immediately behind will pick him up, so you loose almost no ticks.
    2. ditch the collection system. just let a one hopper minecart run through the system, filter it out at a central station and replace with a new one. i assume that you have more than 70 hoppers in the current design so even if one hopper minecart is worse than 70 hoppers it would still be more lag friendly

      all creepers die on the track so all items lie on the track. perfect for running a hopper minecart through

    Since the spawning sphere is not yet full with modules, you can add more modules but reduce their spawn area each so that the killing chambers would have less creepers waiting in line and kills would be much speaded up with the additional modules

    Mayba a bamboo raft would be better in this Farm? Since entities sit slight o higher on rafts, maybe this would be enough for the top of the hitbox to reach the block above the one where they are suffocating, and then you could cover the entire farm in lava without it increasing the light level inside the farm

    so what i see in the f3 screen is an i9 9900k and a 2080ti with only 2 gb of ram dedicated to minecraft running at 1440p, there are always optimizations that can be done like other fabric mods, or even changing to zulu java instead of bundled java, you should see a good performance increase.... but you do you

    I’m not convinced about this design as I have some creepers lurking in the outside spawning spaces taking up the mob cap and not being picked up by the boat. I’m also seeing some boats coming to a stop, perhaps when there a multiple spawns around the same boat and a creeper collides with an already full boat?

    I built 100 of these modules (10x10) of this build in my survival world in an ocean biome above the ocean using a minecart hopper collection system instead of using hoppers everywhere. It produces around 1800 gunpowder per hour. This is significantly less (~18/module/hr) than the claimed production rate (~400/module/hr).

    A different tiling pattern can take the squares from 4/25=16% empty down to 3/24=12.5% empty. I don't know if spider spawning is still prevented though.

    I wonder what other mob farms could benefit from a minecart-based design. I'm currently looking into coming up with a single-dimension guardian farm where minecarts pick up the guardians. curiously, if you drop a minecart with a guardian onto e.g. mud with a rail below, the guardian *sometimes* (at certain drop heights) actually takes fall damage right before the minecart snaps to the rail, which normally would prevent the damage. It should be relatively easy to make a passive killing farm this way. The tricky part will be trying to funnel a bunch of minecarts towards a central killing chamber for looting and XP.
    Similarly, I'm looking into upgrading a double witch farm with entity cramming to a looting design, where witches are brought to the player via a "minecart chainsaw", like in ilmango's gold farm. That way they can make that over 100 block travel without taking up any mobcap. In both cases I'm just a bit worried about the amount of minecarts needed and the lag they might add.

    I believe that picking the creepers up, sending them through lava and having them die all systematically at a timed spot might allow for more spawning spaces and definitely for higher killing times.
    I am thinking about the gold farm you did on Sci Craft recently, but a totally different design ofc.

    wonder if pre-filling the minecart initially with a spider will increase the rate of the farm on a smaller scale with the faster kill time (immediately puts the creeper as the second passenger and into the lava, will probably hit mob cap sooner though, hence smaller scale)

    Not sure if it would be able to keep up since it would only be able to pick up 1 creeper at a time but if you used a chest boat you could make the creepers always go into the lava.

    If you made the farm half the size of that final design you showed off, when did the rates be roughly the same with less lag? If the limiting factor is mobcap, more spawning spaces are not increasing the speed of the farm, just increasing the lag.

      More spawning spaces still fill the mob cap quicker on average again, so there is point having even more spawning spaces, but it's a matter of it's it wort it

      bats are passive - do not count into hostile mob cap same as mobs in carts, boats and renamed

    Could you put a shawty in seat 1 of each of the boats such that it won't suffocate in the blocks, but will force the passenger creepers to always clip into the lava? First I thought of a silverfish because it's small but that'd full up the hostile cap I guess, so maybe a pig?

    How about transporting creepers to killing chamber like scicraft’s gold farm?
    Mob cap can be filled up and rate per module must be reduced but it can be less hopper design.

    Might be late to the party, my apologies. Would more boats on minecarts per module be a good idea? If you increase it to four at a time, then the modules should run fine (if a little laggy) while holding 8 creepers max rather than two. Even a second boat/minecart could double your spawning area efficiency. Or am I wrong?

    Would there be any point in putting a passive mob in each minecart/boat so the creepers would be killed faster with the lava everytime or probably not because they don’t count to the mobcap anyways by the time they’re in the boats

    I wonder if you could use 4 or 8 modules at ground level to get enough for firework rockets, If so this might be useful for non-technical players as well. Or also me who has multiple shulkers of gold blocks, but still hasn't made a mob farm in my current world

    Isn't the cauldron damage bigger because the creeper also got suffocation damage in comparison to the lava which only have burn damage

    Since a second rider dies faster, did you test how using chest boats affects the farm? It wouldn’t allow you to catch mobs as fast, but if even the first one dies from lava, would it matter?

    I have no idea why but creepers dont spawn in mine. Its completely dark, on easy, got a good afk spot, and nothing spawns except for the very occasional spider that i can't see and it suffocates immediately. Why would creepers not spawn in it?

    It works very good, but I get bats in my farm, which adds ro the mob cap. How do i prevent them from spawning? How was it prevented in the farms in the video?

      That would make the farm slower because more creepers would stand around not being picked up by the boats
