Damn, I thought JEW was my favorite band because of the lyrics and guitar licks. But now, listening to your approach to song writing, I'm wondering if I was actually attracted to the music because the framework of the music mirrors the same creative process I take in visual art. Whoa!

Iv had the dream things happen so many times . Sometimes I thought , oh I’ll remember this and then I don’t. Others I record quietly and sing soft to not bother anyone else then it doesn’t reflect what I heard. Just recently, within the last week I realized what I need to do is sing it on key , not octaves lower or low energy, kinda have to deep dive right away. Definitely helps. I have so many ridiculous memos that I know were probably awesome ideas that I too shyly recorded ,from now on I just will wake everyone up . lol

Living where I do there's not many people I can converse with on the topics you guys are doing - its really nice to hear music artists insights to their creative process. Like I'm not alone in my thoughts and ways, their are others!
    Thanks Jim :)

I actually still remember the exact moment I found J.E.W. I read a review for a 7" that said they sounded a bit like samiam, I hunted it down and remember as the song started off (it was the song digits), I was a little disappointed because it was slow, and I was already getting annoyed by the flood of slow emo BS. Then the song kicks into this unbelievably powerful explosion "PAAAAY ATTENTION!" that was it for me, I was hooked. Still one of the best songs too

My new go-to podcast to just play while I fall asleep. I was literally looking for this when I found it. An insight into the man who speaks to so many broken hearts. There's something deeply comforting about Jim. Ive been writing songs for about twenty years, but that's taken a backseat to putting together a set of covers that might fix my broken heart, or at least express something somehow while Im unable to really face what I want to say, but the point is, your music is healing me in a new way, and Im just grateful. I cant think of another songwriter that makes me feel less alone. Thanks for everything. Im so glad your parents fucked

Love this podcast series, both Jim and Steve have real passion for music. It's so exciting to hear them have this huge respect for youth, work without judgement, being both analytic and critics of old and new circumstances. As a punk rock fan, bts follower and latin, both of these guys have a special place in my heart.

I remember being in high school thinking "the good thing about Rap is that even though it's unbearable, it will eventually fade away"... This was about 1994-1995, and not only is it still here torturing my ear holes, but it sounds even worse than before. HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?!
