"If you give the people simply one opinion, day after day after day, what's tthe difference between you and a one-party system." He's right.

He's absolutely on the money about the mechanism of the disinformation; Americans have, for the most part, always trusted others to tell them what is going on, rather than looking for themselves. Much of this is based on lack of disposable income, but it still leads to the myopic tendencies that seem to characterize our country's views.

Tariq Ali is absolutely correct, Empires have never been interested in making sure that there citizens where thoroughly educated or for that matter educated in morality in the sense of the variety morality and ethics in philosophical concerns, nor in scientific truths nor the nature of economies or politics, nor the history of humanity or for that matter the class conflict struggle rather they stop at nothing in pushing myths and legends which were borrowed from other civilizations as historical truths. what's more depressing is that entire continents which have been subjugated by empires often make up a large part of the perpetuated ignorance and thus it becomes easier to indoctrinate through misinformation in school as well as in communities. The church and religion in general have done this as the media. In the midst of the most advance technological revolution in communication the information is controlled through the vast networks of heavy controlled search engines who as we think are lobbying to control more personal information, as well as personal opinions, political opinions etc. Education is an important key to all this and education not just political truths, but of Politics it the economics and its history, the same holds true for Philosophy, and the Sciences.

Good point, but that would make the interview kind of obsolete.

Valid points. Living in the Netherlands myself, me and a lot of my fellow countrymen often notice how selfish and uneducated the average American is. For such a modern country it's really paradoxical. What went wrong with their culture?

Making yourself look stupid isn't exactly a good way to explain why Americans are stupid. Its very sad, but it is changing. People are taking nonstop online courses, participating in discussion forums, listening to lectures, etc. Unfortunately for the Marxists, this means a rise of traditionalism and Christianity. Trump is too big brained for lefties.

Traveling is a privilege for the elite in the USA. Working Americans do not have the money or the vacation time required to travel.

Basekitball Trump can't string a coherent sentence together. He's the laughing stock of the world.

    "They should travel."
With what money? What vacation time? These things are luxuries in the US that most people simply don't have.

i like tariq, but a lot of us can't even afford to travel let alone pay for a passport. as far as the us empire, if it goes to war in syria which will lead to a war with Iran, not only the empire will end quickly but so will most of the northern hemisphere. russia and china will have no alternative but to retaliate. then maybe the southern hemisphere that will lead us in to a golden age based on traditional ages old farming, business without usery, humanity, ecology, etc etc

I depends on when this interview was made, if it was recorded during the Bush administration it makes complete sense.
