Was he alright during this? The were a few cuts and got a bit worried that he hurt himself. Though I won't doubt his abilities to persevere, there is a limit to the human body at his age.
In how many counts is the 𝗪𝗲𝗦𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘂𝗹 𝗬𝗼𝗽 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗴𝗶 to be executed ? This is the only video where it is performed in 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁. While every Ilyeo poomsae video on TH-cam performs Wesanteul Yop Chagi in 4 to 6 counts. Even the Kukkiwon/WT documents has no explanation about it. So please, could you explain if 𝗪𝗲𝗦𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘂𝗹 𝗬𝗼𝗽 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗴𝗶 is to performed in 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁 or 𝟲 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘀 ?
I wouldn’t trust this demonstration. Most demonstrations in this playlist of Kukkiwon’s is considered bad if they are scored in tournaments. Especially if you take a closer look, the last “Repeat” section has 3 jump cuts most likely because of the retakes this demonstrator has to take. For my own research, it is mostly done in 2 to 5 seconds. But most slow motion movements in all Poomsae are done within 5 to 8 seconds so I would say 4 to 5 is safe.
The new textbook just says to perform it "slowly and harmoniously". . . but the videos associated with the textbook show an approximate 5-second count from the beginning to end of the Oe-Santeul Yeop-Chagi motion. Ilyeo is not an official competition poomsae, so there's no World Taekwondo technical standard for the slow-motion counts of its moves; nonetheless, as cychan627 mentioned, all slow-motion moves in poomsae that do have World Taekwondo technical standards are either 5 or 8 seconds long. The person demonstrating in this particular video is Ik Pil Kang, one of the most respected poomsae people in Kukkiwon, so I'm sure he knows what he's doing -- however, I have to think that some odd or unfinished instructions must have been given to the practitioners in these Kukkiwon TH-cam videos. In Ik Pil Kang's own books and videos he shows it as a 4-5-second count, but for some reason didn't do it that way here.
Those 3 cuts were hilarious, they really thought they would get away with it XD
