    Yo, sweet review man! I'm a speedrunner of Ape 2 and 3, and well, you are definitely right with some things. I do have some things to say though:
    Fantasy Knight has an everything-shield, not just a fire shield :)
    At 18:00 you're talking about the quick-item switching. Fun fact, Ape 2 in Japan has this as well. However, they're not present in the international release for some reason. And I agree, it's a major thing, it's soo good!
    At 19:40 you're talking about the gotchabox in Ape 2. I may or may not have done over 5 100% runs of Ape Escape 2... Every time, I spend over 1.5 hrs grinding coins and putting it in that box. It's tedious >.<
    They still sell Ape 3 on the japanese Eshop on PS3, but it's not worth it in my opinion, unless you're speedrunning. And speaking about this, Ape 2 is the better speedgame, but Ape 3 definitely is the better casual game.
    Thanks for the review! :)

      Thanks! I just looked you up, you're pretty good! I've never watched an Ape Escape speedrun before, I bet it would be interesting!
      Yeah, I never actually tested to see if Fantasy Knight's shield worked on anything other than fire... I probably should have done that!
      I remember someone telling me about that back when I did my Ape Escape 2 video, it's so weird how that wasn't implemented into the American and European versions, that would have made it so much better.
      Oh my god, that's gotta be boring... Why they didn't put in a more efficient method of spending coins in Ape Escape 2 I'll never know...
      Huh, I didn't know that. I really wish it was put onto the PS4. I'd buy that instantly!
      Thanks for watching!

    This game looks gorgeous for just the PS2!

      It really does doesn’t it! And bare in mind the footage you’re seeing in this review isn’t even as good as it looks on the actual TV because I was using a rubbish SD upscaler (which I’ve now upgraded) to record the footage!

    Everything you're interested in for Ape Escape 4 sounds like it's already in Ape Escape: Million Monkeys.

    • @PixelPursuit
      @PixelPursuit  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I really need to look into Million Monkeys. I've literally never seen anything about it so it would be really cool to take a look at it at some point. Before that though I should probably do a video on Ape Escape 1 because I never actually did that!

    • @Spitfire_94
      @Spitfire_94 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PixelPursuit The only bad thing about Million Monkeys is that it never released outside Japan. It's a sequel to Pumped and Primed and features Spike, Natalie, Casi, the Professor, and Specter as the main characters. The story is more mature and dark as well, stakes are higher than ever before.
      It's a lot more action oriented compared to the other Ape Escapes, and also a lot harder with enemies that have health bars -- no more whacking enemies with 1-2 hits and they're done, you have to fight.
      Gadgets are also a lot cooler and all of them are viable tools to help you throughout the game, you can even dual wield stun clubs.

    • @PixelPursuit
      @PixelPursuit  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That sounds awesome! I wonder why it was never released outside of Japan... Surely it would have done well enough to warrant being released worldwide... I'm definitely going to have to try this out at some point because it sounds like exactly where I wanted the series to go!

    Havent played the first series and jumped into ape 3 as a kids, All of the surrounding are extremely gorgeous and i love how apes interact around it. But i gotta agree, most of the stuff there are very forgettable.

    • @PixelPursuit
      @PixelPursuit  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All of the Ape Escape games pretty much have self contained stories for the most part, so it wouldn't have been too bad jumping straight into this one. I agree though that the environments and graphics in general are amazing in Ape Escape 3, it's one of the better looking PS2 games for sure! Hopefully if we ever see Ape Escape 4 they'll mix up the gameplay a little bit more to keep it fresh!

    At least they get their original names unlike the NA versions...with stupid localizations...

    • @PixelPursuit
      @PixelPursuit  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah but then it gets confusing because of the returning characters having different names in Ape Escape 1...

    • @captaineli2461
      @captaineli2461 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think they named the characters Kei and Yumi due to how easy people could screw up Sayaka and Satoru’s names, so changing them to more simpler names would make them easier to pronounce

  • @Xavious061
    @Xavious061 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    No, its not Satoru and Saiaka. Kei and Yumi are AE3's protagonists, full stop.

    • @PixelPursuit
      @PixelPursuit  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmm, alright then I'll make a deal with you. If Kei and Yumi are the Ape Escape 3 protagonists names, then in Ape Escape 1, Buzz's name is Buzz and not Jake. :)

      Pixel Pursuit I like AE3 than AE1 better so...trade accepted, sir.

      The American version is inferior to the European version

    • @PixelPursuit
      @PixelPursuit  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is really interesting how the Japanese names are left in the European version isn’t it! It’s also strange how the voice acting is different between the American and European versions. It seems like a lot of effort to go through for something they didn’t really need to do!

    i never knew there was an ape escape easter egg for MGS3! wow!
    "it's not a good laugh if it hurts someone's feelings" yeah welcome into the humans' race trolling platform named the internet and the social media "suicide murder" for me.
    where everyone's "feelings" can go shoved up their butts and then shat back! no one cares!
    yes humans DO develop and evolve, but in the WORST possible of ways!
    saving the planet over and over again .. is boring .. by the way will you be reviewing ape escape million monkeys? the japanese sequel to ape escape 3?

    • @PixelPursuit
      @PixelPursuit  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, the weird crossover content between Ape Escape 3 and MGS3 was amazing! The minigame in MGS3 is really cool as well but the Mesal Gear Solid game in Ape Escape 3 is incredible. It probably wouldn't be included if a remake or remaster of Ape Escape 3 happened which would be unfortunate :(
      Ape Escape is out here trying to spread the positive messages but it isn't working!
      I would love to review Million Monkeys but I don't currently have a way to play it officially. I would have to emulate it but I've never looked into it in that much detail. Is the game in English or would I need to patch it? If I do review another Ape Escape game on the channel it would most likely be Ape Escape 1 because for some reason I never did a video on that!

    • @TrueInvisible

      @@PixelPursuit Saru Get You: Million Monkeys, 2006-07-13, ps2
      only available in japanese. if you don't mind reviewing on emulators you can open your boundaries into infinite hidden gems depending on how strong your PC is and how strong your internet bandwidth is.
      i did read your blog about ape escape 1 i have no idea why you choose to write a blog instead of making a video, but whatever, your choice.
      will they ever be able to capture spector once and for all? i doubt it.

    • @PixelPursuit
      @PixelPursuit  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it's only available in Japanese I wouldn't mind emulating it because getting an actual version of it would be a nightmare haha.
      Wow, I'm surprised anyone even looks at my blog anymore! I literally haven't posted an article there for years because my focus is fully on videos now. I started the blog a year before making videos and I really enjoyed it at the time, but then when I started making videos I enjoyed it way more and eventually just shifted to only doing that. Even though I'm pretty sure what I wrote in the blog I still stand by, I'll definitely be doing a video on Ape Escape 1 just because I feel like more people would be interested in that.
      I hope that we'll eventually see a new entry in the Ape Escape series either as Ape Escape 4 or a remake of some kind. It would be awesome to see the series return!

      @@PixelPursuit if you want an iso image website for ape escape million monkeys i can recommend some that i use!
      after the majority of my ps2 CDs and ps1 CDs no longer work for whatever reason and my old consoles don't work either, i use emulation for everything. "out of necessity"
      i also used to write a lot, not necessary blogs but more like google documents thingy, and yeah nowadays people care more about videos than reading. it's understandable.
      besides iso websites and rom downloads immortalize some REALLY great hidden gems! it's awesome!

    • @PixelPursuit
      @PixelPursuit  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's okay I know several places to get the iso images from, so there's no worries there! :)
      That sucks that your discs and consoles don't work :( As good as emulation is for improving a game's graphics and giving you instant access to huge libraries of games and for game preservation, there's something so satisfying and personal about actually owning a game physically and putting the disc into an actual console and playing it the way it was intended! Maybe that's just my inner game collector coming out though haha!
      Oh yeah definitely, it's also a lot easier to build an audience making videos than doing written stuff (at least in the context of doing game reviews)!
