The NFL can be a cruel, hard business. Once you turn professional, you seemingly have the entire world ahead of you.
But life comes at you fast in this league. It just takes one, two, three or sometimes even four years for a team to decide they’re giving up on you. It’s a results-driven business, and if you don’t produce, your days as a starter are over.
With that said, here are 10 NFL players who have one last chance to prove themselves in 2023.

I want to see him actually play a season before making that statement, But the 49ers really screwed up that draft pick (don’t make trades in draft when you are not sure about the player & I think
Trevor Lawrence will be the only QB worth a dang in that draft to be honest
First, he hasn’t been a full-time starter. Secondly, he needs to get on the field to try to prove it.

I would add Clyde Edwards-Helaire to this list. After a good rookie season, his production has gone south in each of the last 2 years. Unfortunately for him, Isaiah Pacheco has supplanted him as the Chiefs no 1 RB, and his 5th year option was declined. I don't see him staying with the team much longer.

I used to think an NFL player was the ultimate dream but as I’ve got older I’ve realized how the NFL is a business first and you are 1 injury or poor decision from being gone. On top of that not the whole team is getting huge contracts. Along with all that think of the time spent away from family and friends…..you can’t put a price on time with those you truly share a loving bond with

I know right! We literally went from bottom team of the NFL to AFC Champs within 3 seasons, and bottom 5 team to AFC Champs in 2 years.

I think Gallops stats are misleading. He was hurt one year, next year working back to 100% and 2 of those years Dak missed a lot of time and Gallop was playing with backups

Cool video! As an eagles fan, I think you could toss Derek Barnett on there. He’s had moments like recovering a fumble that sealed the Super Bowl, but has been disappointing for a first round pick with penalty and injury issues. He’s going into the last year of his deal as well.
I think Tannehill will be the starter for at most the rest of the season. Maybe if Levis looks good enough during practice then I would hope the Titans are able to trade Tannehill for some extra draft capitol (most likely around or at the trade deadline). I don't believe Tannehill has enough time to prove himself anymore and I can guarantee that he will be gone by the start of the 2024 season. Keep up the great content! :)
They do need a new quarterback but Will Levis was a terrible idea. He needs to just stay third on the depth chart. He's a project QB just like Willis but he acts defiant and uncoachable.
Malik Willis was reported to perform better then Levi’s in training camp so far

I doubt he stil has any sort of ego (which I doubt I think that was just his detractors overhyping interview where he tried to have swagger). Most draft analysts believed him to be a first round guy. Give him some time. I think a mid season start could be in his future.
@@alexmarshall9418Willis has had a full years head start. He was benched last year for Josh dobbs, and they drafted another qb a round ahead of when they drafted Willis. He’ll be lucky to stay on the team.

I don’t necessarily blame Gallup only on his short comings. I think being the offense he has been in with Kellen Moores terrible play calling and Daks inability to be a drop back QB and read the field like a traditional QB can is a large factor. Dak looks for option one, then either scrambles to extend a play or checks it down to a tight end or a back. I also don’t think can consistently throw the ball down the field outside the numbers Dak does the majority of his damage in the middle of the field or on crossing patterns. Which is why i think updating to a west coast more scheme will be helpful and we might see a better Dak than in years past
Good Titans picks and overall list. With Tannehill turning 35 next month, I doubt he'll still be here.

Let me ask you a question tps what number 1 receiver has mac Jones have since being drafted in 2021 his best pass catcher is hunter Henry who’s a tightend and his offensive coordinators were a special teams coach and a defensive coordinator last year and his best receiver this year is always injured and his second best receiver is inconsistent and 3rd best wasn’t even the best receiver on previous team and his next best receiver was drafted in 6th round
Doesn’t matter stop making excuses for him when he sucks hes done hell if he plays like shit by week 4 I want him gone Kraft won’t keep him if he doesn’t make the playoffs

I know he's still got some time on his contract, but Jamal Adams kinda belongs here. No doubt he's capable of making big plays in the backfield, but he is such a liability in coverage. He's also spent more time injured than he has playing. Seattle's defensive backfield has loads of talent and potential and I don't see them waiting much longer before they move on. Honestly, as a fan, this is a make or break year for him, in my mind.
You forgot about Mr. Nine Mistakes Josh Rosen, who is busting his last legs and out of the league if he doesn’t pan out next season.

Michael Gallup is a great receiver he's just injury prone which is a major set back.

It doesn't seem like Mac Jones should be on this list, not yet. He had one good year and one bad year. The bad year was when he didn't have a real OC and his plays were barely getting in to him with a few seconds left on the play clock. Honestly, it might be better for Mac Jones' career if he leaves New England and starts over fresh. He has the talent, if he doesn't play well this year, he may need a change of scenery and a different QB coach and OC. He has the talent, let's see if he has the right attitude.
This year will be his make or break year in New England. Of course, maybe they keep Jones but fire Belicheat if the Patriots just outright suck this year.

I'm not a Patriot fan but I like Mac Jones. It seems like he's being undervalued mainly because of the bad coaching and play calling situation in New England last year. Some people say that he still was responsible for the passes he did throw. Ok, that's true but sometimes when you're already pressured because the play barely got into the huddle with only a few seconds to spare and you're pissed off, it's easy to start slinging the ball around.
In 2022 Mac Jones still had a completion percentage of 65.2%, there are some well known QB's that didn't do that well. Josh Allen, Jared Goff, Tua Tagovailoa, Russel Wilson, Derek Carr, Aaron Rodgers, Jacoby Brissett, Kenny Pickett, Lamar Jackson, Justin Fields and several other starters all threw for a worse completion percentage than Mac Jones. Deshaun Watson only threw for a 58.2% completion percentage. That's considered really bad by anyone's NFL standard.
I'm not comparing Mac Jones to all of those guys but he is as good, or a better passer than some of those guys, yet we don't hear many people talking about them. Part of the reason may be the Patriot hate and part of it is probably because Jones isn't a running QB. People seem to like running quarterbacks more than ever today.

Not really sure why you have Tannehill in this list, he has been in the league 10 years and has proven to be no more than a decent journeyman QB already. What are you expecting him to do? He is not going to get better than he has already been in those ten years. You should have included Trey Lance of the 49era instead. He appears to continue to be as inaccurate and horrible as he has been in his two years with the 49ers, doesn't appear that spending the off season with Manhomes is going to help him a whole lot. If he can't beat Darnold for the back up spot and ends up as a third string his days with the niners will be done.
