How to repair LCD screen

How to repair LCD screen for remote controls, calculators & various devices. You only need the following:
1. Small screw drivers
2. White paper, aluminium foil or equivalent
3. Cutter or scissors
4. Tape

You were not kidding. This problem is actually the reflective back layer which loses reflection. I had 2 old Panasonic remotes. Before I threw them away I tried this, nothing to loose. I replaced the reflective layer with a aluminum foil, matte side against the LCD. Better than new. Be careful to cut the aluminum slightly smaller than the display to avoid shorting the LCD connections. Other than paper aluminum conducts. On one LCD I peeled of the back layer but the sticky layer remained so it was easy to stick the new foil and it stayed in place. On the second one the foil came off clean. And I use a very thin piece of foam to press the new foil firmly between the glass and the PCB. Very useful, thanks a lot.
