- Pandit Chhannulal Mishra is a Hindustani classical singer from Banaras, a noted exponent of the Kirana gharana (school) of the Hindustani classical music and especially the Khayal and the 'Purab Ang' - Thumri.
He has been awarded the 'Shiromani Award' of Sur Singar Sansad, Bombay; Uttar Pradesh Sangeet Natak Akademi Award; Naushad Award of U.P. Govt; Yash Bharti Award of U.P Government and the Bihar Sangeet Shiromani Award. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan, India's third highest civilian honor.

*_Pandit Chhannulal Misra,_*_ a great versatile artist never got his due share of fame in performing arts till 2014. Today he is the most sought-after artist in the country. Very difficult to get his appointment now as he is Very very busy. Thanks to Sri Bismillah Khan family for all his fame today. Sri Narendra Modi first approached son of late Sri Bismillah Khan to sign his nomination papers for 2014 General Election as witness. The influence of the then Government made him to turn down Modi's request. Then Sri Modi approached Pandit Chhannulal Misra for his help, which he accepted with folded hands and signed the nomination papers. It was a BLESSING in DISGUISE for Pandit. His luck started favouring him. His association with Mr Modi made him so popular that he does not have spare time to accept any offer whatsoever. Today he is the busiest artist in the country. But he never forgotten his past path. He still maintains humility and humbleness._
एक महान बहुमुखी कलाकार पंडित छन्नूलाल मिश्रा को 2014 तक कला प्रदर्शन में प्रसिद्धि का हिस्सा नहीं मिला था। आज वे देश में सबसे अधिक मांग वाले कलाकार हैं। बहुत मुश्किल से अब उनकी नियुक्ति मिल रही है, क्योंकि आजकल वे बहुत व्यस्त हैं। उनकी सभी प्रसिद्धि के लिए श्री बिस्मिल्लाह खान परिवार को बहुत-बहुत धन्यवाद।
श्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने पहली बार 2014 के आम चुनाव के गवाह के रूप में हस्ताक्षर करने के लिए दिवंगत श्री बिस्मिल्लाह खान के बेटे से संपर्क किये थे। तत्कालीन सरकार का दुष्प्रभाव के कारण, उन्होंने मोदी के अनुरोध को ठुकरा दिया था। तब श्री मोदी ने पंडित छन्नूलाल मिश्रा से उनकी मदद के लिए संपर्क किया, जिसे उन्होंने हाथ जोड़कर स्वीकार किया और नामांकन पत्र पर हस्ताक्षर किये थे। वैसे यह घटना, पंडितजी के लिए दुख की बात थी।
लेकिन उसकी किस्मत ने साथ देना शुरू कर दिया। श्री मोदी के साथ उनके जुड़ाव ने उन्हें इतना लोकप्रिय बना दिया कि- अभी उनके पास किसी भी प्रस्ताव को स्वीकार करने के लिए अतिरिक्त समय नहीं है। आज वह देश के सबसे व्यस्त कलाकार हैं। लेकिन वह अपने पिछले अनुभव को कभी नहीं भूल पाये? बल्कि वे अब भी अपनी विनम्रता और शीलता पर कायम हैं।
