The most beautiful waterfall that is (reasonably) close to Asheville, is Rainbow Falls down by Sapphire. It's maybe about 75 minutes away, just barely far enough to be off the radar of most Asheville tourists. But it's absolutely majestic. First of all, it's rarely crowded. 2nd, the roughly 2.5 mile hike there is both easy and beautiful along the Horsepasture River with little creeks crossing the path on the way. 3rd of all, if you go when it's been raining a lot recent, the WATER VOLUME is absolutely insane. There's a platform near the falls you can stand on, and after high rains, it literally shoves you backwards from the water pressure and air pressure coming off the falls in front of you. I've been to almost every major waterfall in Western NC, and when I'm trying to combine a beautiful but easy hike to a waterfall, with the waterfall itself being out of a storybook, without it being crawling with tourists every time, I take people to Rainbow Falls. I feel it's the most perfect waterfall experience in Western NC.

Looking glass falls is absolutely gorgeous in the winter when the majority of the water is frozen yet some of it still is able to keep flowing I ha e pics put away somewhere of it
Thank you for making this video! Those waterfalls are all so unique! My wife and I are moving to the Ashville area next year. We will be coming from Hawaii, and I thought I would be leaving waterfalls behind. It's amazing to see that Transylvania County has so many! When it warms up, do people swim in the water?

We've seen pics on Instagram when the falls is covered in ice been haven't seen it in person yet. That will have to be a mission for this winter!

Having been born and raised in Transylvania county, I can tell you the water never gets warm.
