"that it would stand a chance against NATO."
They do as long as NATO doesn't intervene. I wish this was sarcasm but the fact is that should Ukraine fold because it alone is bearing the burden of the ruSSian aggression (to remind, ruSSia has a +100 million larger population and has no regard for human live, including their own) than that would be an enormous defeat for NATO, the EU, international law and any decent country.

@@phild3936I am deeply disappointed that a coalition was not established to help Ukraine defend their country. We should have drawn a line in the sand so to speak, and that would have allowed Ukrainians to focus on pushing out the intruders while coalition forces stood guard over the rest of the country.
I think this would have brought the war to a quick resolution, instead hundreds of thousands of lives have been senselessly lost because the world stood by and watched a bully beat up on a weaker kid.

You live in some kind of dystopia where leaders who prefer to look after their people's interests rather than sending weapons to some land in eastern Europe are an existential threat to you and your peaceful way of life, when they are someone you shouldn't care about. That's really worrying. Orban is a democratically elected European leader of a developing country member of both EU and NATO, and Vucic is a president of a country that has ongoing negotiations on joining the EU - they're both as western as can be yet there's you.

They both openly favor Russia/Putin and China/Xi and sheepishly comply to EU policy behind the courtain.

You have left out a few russian "successes". Some that come to my mind:
      - The russians and the Nazis defeated Poland together in 1939 (But this can be seen as part of WW2)
      - The russians won the second Chechen war 2000-2009 by bombing Grozny to rubble and mass murdering Chechens
      - The russians won a few wars together with cooperation partners in Vietnam, North Korea, Ethiopia and Somalia, creating dystopian dictatorships

What gets me is these are accurate figures. These are visually, individually, independently-confirmed numbers, not some made-up, inflated, or mathematically guesstimated list that you would see in previous wars. Which means these are probably the low-minimum of what is being lost.

This old armor becomes useful by these ingenious tactics. It does not protect the crew operating it, however puts up a barrier which blocks Ukranian sight and gunfire. At some point Ukraine will probably retreat from this trench, as there is too much cover right in front of it. Then Russia can take it "with minimal losses".

  • @_--JohnVK--_

Well, Russia actually SHOULD be worried about their losses, because according to very recent satellite data their (counted) remaining active tanks, and stored & serviceable vehicles (their state from very bad to not so bad, but no more good ones!) are running out VERY QUICKLY.
There are no more T90's and only a couple of hundred T80's left, with pretty much none of both in storage.
And their manufacturing facilities aren't able to keep up. Not even a little!
The total (in active service and all tanks in storage) comes to a grand total of 3657 counted.
That seems like a lot, but it really isn't.
About 80% of these counted tanks are in storage, and are in a very bad state, with a LOT of repairs needed to get them running again.
They are also ONLY very old models!
The situation with active & stored serviceable APC's/IFV's is even much worse!
So, if these losses remain constant, with losses this high, I don't think they can even make it through this year.
And I shall not again start on their failing, and soon to crumble (2 or 3 years at the very most), horrible state of economy 😊

Agreed because otherwise the battlefield wouldn't be seeing the stupid RU employment of motorbikes and golf carts in the offensive. Ergo, RU in certain sectors, has already "run-out of armour".

@@suchomimus9921very old game. ‘Operation Flashpoint: Resistance’. Came out in 2001 for the PC, then remastered in 2005 for the original XBox console.
Basically you’re playing the leader of a small resistance group fighting against a Russian military occupation of a small island (never specified exactly where) in 1985.
The quote I gave is during a follow up mission after the resistance takes over the first major island settlement and destroys the Russian garrison. The guy who gives the quote is (very likely) a Russian soldier sympathetic to the resistance that’s leaking intel to them. He’s making light of the fact that the Russians are sending an armored force to retake the town, and are driving straight ahead down the main road through a narrow gap that’s between heavy woods and the ocean.
So while, as the player, your forces is much weaker, with careful placement of mines and remote explosives, you can easily take out half the Russian force before your own forces even engage them.
I found the scenario strangely fitting, because that’s exactly how the Russians have largely been behaving in Ukraine.

Hi Schumo, just curious, but what happens to all the Ruskie bodies?

    • @Bob94390

Some are sent back as Cargo 200. But that is far from all. Many are just left on the ground or stuffed into holes in the ground. If a body is sent back to russia, that means that an officer in charge of distributing salaries to soldiers will receive payment for one soldier less, the family of the soldier may have a right to a pension, and it looks bad from a propaganda perspective, so why bother?
Ukraine has scraped up some leftovers and offered them to russians, but the russians are not all that interested. Most of the russians died on territories that are now occupied. How many russians corpses are spread out there now is difficult to know.

This is that part of every Empire Earth game when you send waves of old WWi and WWII tanks in so you can reduce your total units below the limit, and build more modern tanks. Someone needs to tell the Russian Generals using Empire Earth as an AI battle planner that they have no artificial limit on total deployed units like the game does.

Sorry, this isn't an "attack" in the normal sense of the word. It is per Einstein, insanity. It was never going to work because armoured columns haven't worked since Day1 of the RU campaigns. This level of senseless destruction is beginning to make me really sick. And am no peacenik being ex-armoured.
It defies belief that RU has reverted to early/mid war SU tactics on a smaller scale. Have read extensively of Red Army using these means, with the same lack of impact, but to see it well-laid out and broken down just makes me both sad and angry. No fan of RU but it does take some fear or motivation (and insanity) to knowingly drive down a track to one's certain death.
For even if that lone tank reached the trench line then what???? It is a single tank with no infantry support that shouldn't be within 400-600m of a trench line anyway! It is all so sickenly stupid.
