Dear karen , i love this and am going to try your techniques for sure. What i love about you karen is that whenever i tune in to watch one of your tutorials is that you always give easy to understand tips and techniques and you sound so passionate about helping us all , it's priceless. Its great the way you show us how to build up the scene with tonal values, lights , darks , details 😊You are a wonderful teacher . You always make us feel at ease and you are all about helping us to improve our painting 👍I think i try too hard and rush to get it all on the paper first but you have showed us to relax and layer up and most of all have fun 😊
I've been watching you for a few years, started to try learning watercolor in 2019. I still consider myself a beginner but have learned so much from you. Thank you Karen Rice ❤
Now if someone pots a Queen Anne's Lace Plant into a pot as a model to paint, remember it is the host plant for A black Eastern Swallow Tail Butterfly! If you keep it on your porch a butterfuly will likely lay an egg or two and you'll get to observe the Eggs hatch, the caterpillars eat the plant and then become a Chrysalis, then into a butterfly! I raise Monarch's -- can you tell, LOL Wonderful Lesson; thanks again!
@@maryannegunter115 God bless you for providing nectar for all pollinators; I meant to plant Zinnias those this year but I forgot They are beautiful! ! This has been a terrible year Weather-wise, a late frost threw off the timing of blooming flowers, and there has been a terrible drought. I'm sorry to say that I have seen ONE Monarch Butterfly, and colleted only three Caterpillars -- I should have at least 300 by now. I think the Great Migration may collapse this year. Say a Prayer for them, and for US - for they are the canary in the Coal Mine!
@@KarenRiceArt hi, going to try again because I used Paynes Grey with my limited skills resulting in a scene that looked like Post Pompeii Apocalypse! Not a restful misty scene 🤣. Thanks for your inspiration, I will keep trying 😁

Dreamy 😊💖
Love it...blessings
Hi, maybe use mars black in the background, get that nice texture too.
Great suggestion!
Granulation was the word I was looking for.
Karen i am having trouble with tape ripping my paper…what kind/brand of framing tape do you use? Thank you so much for your videos, I LOVE them!
I love using washi tape, it’s quite gentle to the watercolour paper.
Beautiful. I can’t find this on your patreon. Not sure why
An interesting exercise. I'd like to know if your paper is on a board ?
Thank you 😊
I used a Winsor& Newton watercolour paper 300gm 10 x 14 inches. It helps with keeping the painting from buckling.
Hope that helps?
How do you sharpen your paint brush?
With a pencil sharpener.
Hoping it is cow parsley not the evil hog weed that causes burns and blisters 😮
