Doesn't this stuff have a curing time? What did it look like on the jeep after curing? And did the effect last a while? Did it wash off? Now would be a great time to share that info, inquiring minds want to know.
Wasn't aware taping was necessary. Mfgr says any that if it touches your paint can simply be wiped off. But if you have the time and motivation, just makes final results that much better I guess!
Step 1: Apply painter's tape to painted areas of vehicle.... Step 2: When your buddy arrives at your house and interferes with your work, stop, stand, then raise hand and extend middle finger upward, thus flipping him off. The camera never lies! Neither do reflections cast from the rear of your vehicle 😉
Manufacturers need to stop using this type of trim, it just sucks. If you do not seal it from day one, your in for years of work. The auto companies should just have it sealed, save the consumer a lot of work.
Please do an update on your sisters arch things as those wipes say 2 year guaranteed so would be cool to see how it help up from how faded those were 🙏
Is there an update video? I have an 02 Ford Explorer and it has the same trim color as yours and it really needs something to bring it back to life. I wanted to know is this the cure to the problem I have. 🤔
After a year it still looks pretty good. I would recommend doing it once a year. It would probably look better if the sun didn’t come out when I was doing it, but it definitely looks better and lasts way longer than back to black.
What I did not see was the cleaning of the plastic to remove the decolorization. What I saw was a way to add to the already waxes, cleaners, along with the acid rain that discolored the black in the first. What I was hoping to see is the cleaning and removal of the grey and then begin to see the black which is hiding underneath the grey. Then, after the cleaning, I was hoping to see a step-by-step showing how to apply a covering to keep the black from being discolored again. Thank you
I just did my 2002 Mini Cooper S and 2005 Honda Element. Lots of black trim, including the roofline on the E. I used nine wipes and the last one for touch ups. Both cars' trim was gray and now jet black. I did it in an enclosed parking lot.
Does it get dusty after chemical treatment??? (‘Cause I really hate dust). How long can it last if vehicle isn’t parked outside on the elements? Thanks
Absolutely don't use Cerakote products on your trim if the car is evenly remotely new. They won't tell you this, which is appalling, but it'll wreck trim on a new car. The off gassing will push the coating away from the surface and can't be fixed. There should be a class action lawsuit against the company, no questions asked.
100% correct. The out gassing and releasing agents present in newer trim will cause these products (including wipe new) to crack and flake. They work great on old, dry, faded trim.
@@adrenalinemadness3340exactly its mesmerizing me how all these complaints come from new cars. Buddy its a trim RESTORER and a ceramic SEALANT. They complain about sealing off their brand new sweating trim 😂 If you REALLY need to protect your new car black trim just put a UV protection made for that. Or even a carnauba wax. Honestly guys, if its new its sweating oil. When it stops sweating (approx 5 yrs outside) you can add 303 protectant and it will condition it nicely to sweat again. When your car is 10-15-20 depending on care/abuse, you can safely use a product like cerakote trim. I just used it on a 10 yrs old rav4. Trim wasnt hazed up too hard but you could tell it was dry, pored up and gripping up anything thrown at it like velcro. This is where a coating like this works wonders. It basicly fills up the pores on the plastic and gives it back that slick oiled up condition for a very long time. The only downside to me is the lack of conditioning with polymers. But honestly for the protection it gives its still a win in my book. If your trim isnt cracking, it wont go further once you put this. On the opposite the seal of the gassing off might help bring back some oil on the surface.
@@adrenalinemadness3340Turned out super duper slick on the rav too. I prepped my surface nicely (magic pad wet sand, pencil eraser on spots, IPA wipe down after a dawn wash) I knew I was nailing it by the way it was sucking up differentely on the small inside trim corners that werent as dried up. Car looks new now after a full compound polish klasse combo + collinite on the entire paint. Cerakote brought back that brutal black to match the metallic red. Did the headlight restore mediun from meguiars on yellow lights. That stuff is SLICK. Its an acrylic coating literally that reconditions to new the plastic. The beauty in it: its acrylic so you can use klasse AIO and sealant glaze on them. Ill never have to redo the headlights.

1 hour keep it dry. That is obviously temp dependant.
Amazing turn out brah. Thanks for sharing. I just received the one I ordered and will be applying this bad boy. Thanks again. 🤙🏼
How can you remove this product when it doesn’t go On my way! Right?

looks nice, what do you use on your tires?
I bought some for my Honda Element and Cerakote headlamp restorer for my sons headlights too. Good stuff.

missed a spot 6:01 right at the joint where the tape was, at the bottom
rip
Do you have to tape everything off with this stuff? How many wipes did it take?

Doubt she has the vehicle still lol
Great to use this before selling a car

Nice Mk5! Can you also use this on the rubber window surrounds?
I don’t think so
I dont think cerakote trim is the glossiest or nicest looking trim coat but it certainly lasts the longest from what ive seen
See channel Project Farm..
So after 5 months, how well has the product been lasting?
Still looks really good it’s definitely surprised me
@@734FSE how’s it holding up now after a year?
Most work but how long will it last?
Had mine's for 1 year, no care and it's the same as applied from before.
Yes it works I’ve used on both of my vehicles, it’s been almost a year since.

Does it work still, did you applied it again? Is the result still make u happy?
Yeah it still looks good! I’m going to try to make an update video eventually sorry for the wait.
did you rub it into the grill of the mk5? mine is getting graay and its killing me.
I did and it dried streaky
How's it holding up buddy?
How many wipes did it take you to complete the Jeep? Trying to figure out if a bag is enough to finish two.
I think 4 or 5 but if you do it in the shade it should take less. It ended up getting sunny so the wipes dried out faster.

How many "packets" did the jeep take?
I don’t remember exactly I think between 3 and 6

When it dries it stays dry it doesn’t leave a oily finish. I leave my car in the garage and it still looks like I just put it on.
@@734FSE …..sounds good to me, thanks!
best for textured plastic...smooth surface streak-so Ive heard
I tried it on smooth plastic and I’d did leave some streaks but it went away for the most part after a week or so. I probably just got lucky.
You can buff with a micro fibre to remove streaks
Good to know
What's the name of the product
How did this turn out afterward? Seen some people say its great, others say it ruined the trim!
So far it’s held up really well.
Use only on porous trim it will look good but later pit on smooth trim
Half the video on taping, but nothing about surface prep...the most critical part?
I guess I'll know soon on what this dose to paint because I didn't tape off the areas it didn't say that in the directions of the kit I bought lol
I think it can stain the paint but I’m not sure. Hopefully nothing happened.
So did anything happen to your paint?
In this video, you have shown your own face more than the product results on the car. by the way how is the result after it dried out?
Almost as good as my face 😘
What did you clean the plastic with before applying?
Dish soap
Your car actually looks good with the blue line!
No it doesn't 🤣
I just want to know how to get my truck tires to look as nice as that Jeeps
If you wash your car yourself try wheel shine or wheel wax. If you go thru a carwash get the wheel shine option
It’s just tire shine
I could see it from just watching this video. You missed a very small spot . How could you not see it?
Just the way she goes
He did
Apply heat with a heat gun a decent one and watch the black come back like magic
That’s another good method. They claim this protects against uv not sure how true it is but it’s held up well so far.
doesnt last & looks WAY worse after it wears off.
Heat gun method doesn't last let alone you still havent protected it from the elements.
@@808G8GT- I also didn’t list a step by step method I would think people would google that.
@@MasterArmedforces 100% true, it looked worse after! Lesson learned.
You can skip to 3:59 for the application.
Dude I got the part about the tapping on the first 20 secs.
Im guessing after a couple of years this stuff will start to fade and then look WORSE and will not be removable.
I’m guessing it won’t.
Still looks good
@@734FSE I tried telling him…..😉👍
ihr müsst das nach 20 sekunden mit weichem tuch nachwischen , dann wirkt es viel homogener und schön matt
Is it still holding after 8 months? I can do this if its like once a year.
It still looks pretty good I’m going to do an update video some time
No update video. Looks like the channel died a few months later
Maybe one day
@@734FSE well I'll comment back on my comment in about 6 months because I just did about 80 square feet of Cerakote on my Mazda.
Might have “Seen”
You might want to learn how to apply tape.
Skip the taping next time.
1:18
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Did you really just spend half of the video masking your car??? SMH...
I put this on my car’s black rubber bumpers and it streaks like crazy. It looks horrible.
It’s not meant for rubber. Unpainted plastic only.
you forgot to wash your car before applying it.
Gotta' use dish soap on the trim parts beforehand, as well.
I will tell you one thing that does not work, and that is your audio.
Slap yourself if you tapped off ur paint
Get a mic....
Have one

This is a product mean to repair trim that has been damaged by the sun, why would someone put it on a brand new trim/plastic?. 😅
