That's not the hood of KC, that's just the far east side industrial districts which obviously have seen better days. It's hardly where most people live. Most people in KC have probably never even been to these areas. Interesting to watch though.

I agree. There was fewer social services and people had to work. Now people want everything for free. KC is so dangerous today. The hood has spread to the Plaza and have ruined it. The hood has spread so far east now it’s frightening.

You must be in North KC. I'm in south East KC and it's not bad here. I agree garbage is horrible!! The place I came from had the jail trustees pick up garbage. It's a thought because the litter is OOC!
I'm not a local any more and KC is sort of a run down city in general, but at the same time it has some really nice areas. The best parts of KCMO are east of State Line from Downtown all the way past 435 and east to about Troost or Paseo, but it's getting better. Even downtown has really nice areas and really crappy areas. Most of Eastern KCMO is pretty crappy and that includes parts of some of the suburbs to the east. Although if you go to the far east suburbs like Blue Springs and Lee's Summit they are nice. KCMO proper also has some nice suburban areas within its city limits north of the river in newer annexed parts of the city along with other northern suburbs like Liberty and Parkville. Then you have KCK which is pretty trashy throughout the entire city except some sprawl on the very west end and then Johnson County has some nice suburbs. Personally I think KC's suburbs are pretty boring, even more so than most other metro suburbs. KC is a metro s 2.3 million people, so it will have good and bad areas, but I would agree that too much of metro KC is run down even compared to east coast metros. It's a very sprawl and decay type metro. Rather than rebuild existing areas, they just build new stuff on the fringes. But they are finally seeing some decent urban infill and redevelopment. You can have southern cities though. KCMO's nice parts are much better than anything in southern cities. I prefer east and west coast now. Minneapolis and Chicago and Denver are fine too. I prefer a metro of closer to 3-4 million. KC is too small and things happen very slow there.
I'm also from California, couldn't imagine moving back. I've lived in Nevada, Mississippi, Texas. KC has been the best. The roads could use some work in KC, but otherwise it's great. Just like any major metro area there's bad parts. The community is great out here and there's tons to do. It's affordable, good commutes and the people are the nicest.

The NFL was invented inOH. It’s first league office was in Columbus. Columbus downtown is much larger and nicer. NHL and MLS, OSU, largest science museum and library system in the USA, test market. I’ve been to both. Columbus is way better quality of life and it’s a prettier city
If we compare apples to apples Columbus outside of its education institutions (Ohio State) doesn't have anything compare to KC. Many of you on this video play oblivious and act as if this isn't wide spread in America. America has a systemic wealth issues.
I used to travel all these cities most people wouldn't normally go to back when I was 19 and 20. I think the American mid west is the most interesting by far. Just to see all these cities that were thriving in the past, to be so ran down and rotten. By far, they still rank better than Mississippi and Alabama by a long shot. Shameful.
KC has areas that are ratty, but not as much as you would think. I actually drove a truck OTR and have been all over the eastern half of the USA and have been into almost all of the major east coast cities and there tons of major cities (other than KC) that are way worse...
Every Midwest city I ever went to when I lived out there for a couple of years was trashy and full of closed businesses, crumbling roads/buildings, ugly architecture, and homeless people. Hated KC, Topeka, Omaha, Chicago, and St Louis. They are all so ugly and depressing. Southern cities are so much nicer
The South is nicer, I’m from the Midwest, but a poor Southern town is worse than a poor Midwest town. The South has 3rd world looking poverty in some areas, looks like they haven’t evolved from the 1950’s. Part of the reason the Midwest looks bad is because of all the run down factories and businesses that depended on them. Add the winter and you get a depressing scene.
Chicago doesn’t belong with those other places though. Chi is actually beautiful in most of the city, just certain areas have been neglected to hell and are emptying out as people move into better areas.

I used to live in KC in the "Northland". It has its good and bad spots. The ritzy spots are in Johnson County Kansas or Lee's Summit. Liberty isn't that bad either.

I was just in KCMO and was absolutely disgusted with how filthy it is. It's also in disrepair in many areas (parks, etc). The amount of transients and alcoholics and junkies all over downtown was unreal.

When we got married at 18 we lived in a single wide trailer from 1967… with the floor missing we had to walk over plywood sheets to reach the bathroom with electrical cords in the way. I am a resident of Kansas City and I will have to agree with you that there is a lot of trash littering our street and a lot of homeless people. We have homicides every night. Last night I was watching the news and they said we had seven homicides in the last 72 hours. There are nice areas but when you’re downtown, where are you were yes, you were going to see all of the homelessness and trash littering the streets because they don’t give a shit down there. I myself live 30 minutes north of downtown and it’s pretty nice up here granite there is a lot of property crime. By the way Tacos El Guero is FIIIIRE!!!!

I was just in KCMO and was absolutely disgusted with how filthy it is. It's also in disrepair in many areas (parks, etc). The amount of transients and alcoholics and junkies all over downtown was unreal.

When we got married at 18 we lived in a single wide trailer from 1967… with the floor missing we had to walk over plywood sheets to reach the bathroom with electrical cords in the way. Furthermore i was born in cuba when i was a child i had to eat paper. I have been thru poverty you cant even imagine in USA.

I am a resident of Kansas City and I will have to agree with you that there is a lot of trash littering our street and a lot of homeless people. We have homicides every night. Last night I was watching the news and they said we had seven homicides in the last 72 hours. There are nice areas but when you’re downtown, where are you were yes, you were going to see all of the homelessness and trash littering the streets because they don’t give a shit down there. I myself live 30 minutes north of downtown and it’s pretty nice up here granite there is a lot of property crime. By the way Tacos El Guero is FIIIIRE!!!!
